My point is that the AI training is most likely done on the cars default tires. And that the best performance in all aspects would be expected from that.
Sorry, that doesn't make sense for me.
Sophy can use almost every car in the game in any state of tuning. I guess she hasn't been trained with every possible combination of suspension, suspension settings, brakes, engine tune state, gearbox, gear ratios and so on. There are hundreds of possible combinations of all of those factors for every car and she can drive 'em all.
An AI doesn't have (or at least shouldn't have) to be trained on every possible combination. That's why it's an AI and not just a bot. One definition for intelligence is "the ability to learn or understand or to deal with new or trying situations".

Boost : weak + One AI with an equivalent car.

I never tried yet. (But sophy is clearly slower than in beta. )
In beta, she had a tendency to cheat by cutting at certain turns... I'm not against with that kind of behavior. (not for all of AI !)
I just tried that and you are right, I couldn't catch P1 with boost weak, and I could with boost off, so that's quite confirmed that with boost Sophy is faster (even when they are in p1). Also tried with 7 cars, same result.
Does not compute for me either. The first outing was so promising...
Then a slew of new rubber-banding rules for Sophy came with every release, watering down and negating what PD/Sony achieved imo (presumably with the excuse that majority of people do not want the challenge...
Buy hey, let me TF please decide that!
Fingers crossed the addition of custom races for Sophy is a good next step...and also fingers crossed we can do the same challenging grid/races as the first demo of Sophy in GT7 promised 1-2 years ago when the kinks are ironed out)
Try boost weak as Alfa Romeo said, they are pretty competitive for high B - low A drivers like myself (don't know if Sophy adapts to your own level)

Did you follow the development and read the papers?

Because you have a point but up an until 2.1 Sophy was only used in very rigid situations so something changed.

My guess is that either a watered down version or it only brings its best version with the default settings.

Because the way the original version was presented would require training on "every possible combination".

It's going to be interesting to test out.

And there isn't any active learning AI so it's not that.

No, I didn't follow it. I'm interested in AI in general but this one is to niche for me to put time into it.

Anyway, as I said before, the exact same limitation exists forever and it already existed before I even heard about Sophy, so I just don't think that there's a connection to Sophy at all.

But of course, as usual, it's all just speculation since PD refuses any communication.

But the car's technical properties likely require a file for the AI system to reference. Without that file, the AI will do nothing. That's the case with every single AI actor I have ever seen.

So, what's likely happening with the excluded cars is that they lack the require reference file for Sophy, and therefore they can't be used. Seeing as the cars can be used in some situations, but not others, it's likely a track layout file that tells Sophy the boundaries of the track, and where the pitlane is.

This (and similar) definitions were used decades ago to describe bots in first person shooters (I think far cry 1 and fear 1) that learned what the player does and adapted to their playing style.

Cool! Sounds like this was more AI then most things labeled AI today😄

I did a test at the request of a friend since we were debating sophy. (the idea for the test came from my friend)

Sophy has always used the Mégane R.S. Trophy '11 and I different vehicles at Trial Mountain with the boost: low.
Hard difficulty.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Me in Clio R.S. 220 Trophy '15 vs Sophy in Mégane R.S. Trophy '11

Sophy 2:20.317
Me 2:20.249
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Me in Mégane R.S. Trophy '11 vs Sophy Mégane R.S. Trophy '11

sophy 2:15.845
me 2:15.520
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Me in Mégane Gr.4 vs Sophy in Mégane R.S. Trophy '11
Sophy 2:09.895
Me 2:05.029

Sophy blew away her time when I was in Group 4. (and the speed was too much like 240km/h in the long straight line), I guess she pressed harder on the accelerator pedal)

Sophy defies the laws of physics like a child cheating on Tarkov... or she took the liberty of doing a stage 3 on MY megane.

Anyway my friend was right...

I‘m loving the Vantage so far, it‘s great that the game allows us to recreate the GT4 version.

Made AMR‘s #156 from the 7th round of the 2019 VLN season, driven by former F1 pilot Martin Brundle and his son Alex (link here).

Sky actually made a cool documentary about their race (it‘s on Youtube).

I don’t think Sophy is a fan of the new Aston Martin. I did two 10 lap races at Dragon Trails to test out the updates I added to the car. Both times I was punted into the barriers on the opening lap.

Boost is still boost. Still miles better than whatever weirdness goes on when it's off, and if you're racing cars around the same speed, Sophy is fast enough for it not to kick in too noticeably a lot of the time, at least for a high B/low A driver like myself. Having no interference at all is always preferable but weak boost is the closest to that.

As pretty as the Aston is, unfortunately it's fuel economy is too dire to make any reasonable facsimile of it's real life enduro brethren.

Even for a road car the range is pretty awful.

Maybe it'll get the GT3 engine from the Mercs in a future update.
If it wasn't for the Mazda CX, the Aston would be a clear worst car of the update, for me (I await your nasty messages, fanboys). It handles OK (at best), but the big Mercedes (see what I did there?....lol) is just not very interesting, and that's coming from a fan! By far the most interesting vehicle of this update was the Kangoo. I didn't think I would like it, but it is arguably one of the best handling FWD's in the game. Tuned up to about 550pp on Sport Hard tires, it's an absolute blast to drive. I just wish there was more to do with it, in the career mode. Thankfully, with Custom Sophy Races, you can make some pretty epic sessions. Personally, my current favourite is a 6 lap race around Tokyo with 6x fuel, and no tire wear (tire wear is a bit weird with Sport Tires). Absolute blast!

Have you put a good time in for the time trial?

The time trial running with it, with nearly 180k people are ok driving it ok?

Or just you don’t like it so it must be bad?

Racing against Sophy in one make single seater races is incredible. One day I'll actually beat her too....
FYI, if the F1500 matches with the MP4/4 very well if you turn the power all the wat down on the F1500.

I will go give it a try (even though trial mountain is my worst track). I assume it's an unmodified Megane.

It looks like it's getting more grip, and it's executing a perfect lap.

Personally, I don't care how Sophy is remaining competitive. I am happy to be having fun in single player again. And, since Sophy is a PS5 feature, and this might be the ONLY AI in GT8, it would seem GT8 will be a PS5 exclusive.

Yeahh. I will definitely test it myself too.

Bias maybe gets in the way sometimes. From my brief experience, I couldn't really feel other cars having power advantages, especially on random choices racing.

They Just go at it perfect, best lines, best throttle Control and best braking.

Will post it when I get the chance, Hope boost weak is off

No, you NEED boost to be set to weak. Boost off is absolutely not fun.

I've just done a 9 hours race in a R34 against a random field at Tsukuba and Boost off made the race. I would have stood no chance with Boost weak. The Porsche 959 and BMW M2 Competition in the race would have run away and lapped me at least 3 times. As it was with 20 minutes to go the three of us were covered by 2 seconds. The BMW pitted for fuel and the Porsche would have won but he ducked into the pits when the finishing line was right there in front of him. It's left me a somewhat deflated winner....

I don't know a lot about the cars they choose to include in the game, but I feel like this one is part of a business deal with Mazda. Not necessarily pay to play, but part of a larger deal in licensing .
I do not understand how is this car going to create any sort of aspirational feeling for the Mazda brand?
