'Gran Turismo' is coming to the BIG screen!

I had a dream last night
They were showing us the directors cut before it went public.. the intro was oddly familiar, it had ominous music , showing a vast open city, there were helicopters in the air caring large cargo containers. I was amazed as a helicopter flew over a sky scraper and the camera panned further back pointing down to reveal a massive gathering of people in what to appeared to be a festival of speed. IT then switched over to A helicopter dropping a large container , out the doors fling open revealing a R 35 aside it two cars bolt by as there pit crews cheer on. As this happens a voice in the back ground yells "A new Breed or racers have been sent, born to dominate this majestic city.. Born to drive to there fullest , Born to win! Welcome to Motor storm" *cut!* a man yells in the movie theater and begins to scold the movie director for forgetting to replace that with the words grantrurismo. . I woke up after that =/ Yeah guys were getting jipped

Immortal shapeshifting vampire with stunning wealth gained through 700-years of his life starts collecting cars since the late 19th century.

It is 2014. He has the greatest collection in the world, stacked all over the globe in private garages. His army of female personal assistants commences purchases and organize maintenance while he changes his appearance to be different persons for every driving occasion. Once he gets bored with his residual image, he stages his death, knowing he will raise from the grave. He was Richard Seaman, he was Fangio, Senna.. and today he is Kimi Raikkonen.

Sounds like Highlander.

I think that something based off my old fan fictions would be interesting; A possessed X1 and some people trying to stop it from tearing about the earth causing mayhem. If only I refined them a bit more; they are a bit "rough" after all...

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=173322 <-- Not so good

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=229111 <-- Better

That's sounds almost as bad as the movie "Rubber." Which was about an evil tire that was possessed or something.

I did say they were "rough" for a reason...they looked much better in my mind.

Then again, I am a bit crazy:yuck:

Would rather have a MotorStorm movie.

It would just take some imagination.

There are different aspects of GT-Life (drifting, drag racing, circuit racing, rally) and some could be used in the movie.

You start off your career with a real bad car, you mod it best you can to win or nearly win your first Sunday Cup races. You upgrade your car, etc , etc. Then you advance in the ranks and end up racing for more money against better opposition.

You get interested in drifting, you buy an S15, mod it up and go drifting in Japan, moving there and everything.

And while all this is happening there will be the classic love story and turmoil at home, moving to Japan will be stressful and maybe the main guy could sustain a serious injury at some point.

With a little imagination it would be at least watchable and enjoyable. Blockbuster ? Maybe not, cool car movie ? :D yes sir !

I don't think I'll be looking forward to this, I can't see how you can make a movie out of a game that never had a story to begin with.

Thats why it has a potential to be good, they don't have to adapt a story solely made for gaming into a movie (which often ends badly), they can simply create a brand new story and just slap the Gran Turismo name on it.

But that isn't Gran Turismo anymore.
The only thing they can do is tie GT Academy. Anything else than that isn't quite Gran Turismo anymore

Gran Turismo the game is a racing simulator. Gran Turismo the movie is, presumably, a movie with a story that revolves around racing.

I don't see what the issue is. The movie wouldn't work if it were like a 90-minute long GT replay.

They could always be making the movie about Kazunori's early life and the path he took to build it into what we have today. Highlighting his first car and his crash, to building up the first Gran Turismo by himself with a Playstation 1 dev kit, to the series skyrocketing, GT-Academy and his racing career.

It could take on more of a The Social Network and Moneyball direction very easily and tell the story of Gran Turismo and not necessarily try to make it a action movie.

Of course they could do that - but the rumours suggested a movie designed to compete with The Fast & The Furious and the Need for Speed movie.

I highly doubt that the movie will have anything to do with Grand Turismo other than having cars in it and bearing the name. It's just seems to me like Sony Pictures looking at the GT series fan base and thinking that a movie with the GT badge will be a sure thing. Again I'm sure that PD will have nothing to do with it - it's an entirely different entity.

Judging by the general reaction here, Sony may have screwed up - it seems as though GT fans don't really want a "Grand Turismo" movie.

It actually makes sense considering the directors previous works 👍

Nah,we simply don't understand how this game can be made into a movie.

If it's something like Le Mans or Rush or maybe a GTacademy esque story then I'd go watch it.

doubt it will have anything to do with street racing, already a stale formula.

I still want PD to do real life car documentarys ,I reckon that would be epic.

Gran Turismo...
The Real Movie Simulator

It sounds like with screenwriters they are going to make something up but I'm with sims4arsenal, if they had collected footage of Ordonez's rise from the start and put it on as a documentary, I'd pay to see that.

I wonder will there be a spinoff game based off the movie. For ex. Dragonball evolution had a spinoff game that was in no relation to the other Dragonball z games out at the time. In the long run this may be the stupidest thing suggested ever, because GT6 will be coming out soon. But overall that idea is out of proportions.

I think GT or what ever department of PD should rethink their thoughts and call off this movie. Finish GT6 first then maybe consider doing a movie. Recalculate their thoughts and don't affiliate your sim with this movie idea. And think of a better story, nothing generic will win newcomers hearts.

I was thinking something along those lines as well 👍.

I would find it very interesting. The climax could be, in my opinion, the long-version credits of GT5 with KYs background voice reflecting about his life. I think it's a fairly emotional bit of video: A lap of the almighty Nordschleife (which requires attention right now as it is endangered!!!) at the tune of the great "1979" song.

Ranman20 - you don't have to worry about PD delaying GT6 or 7 to work on the movie because they aren't making it - Sony Pictures are.
