and don't forget B-spec Bob, who will be played by the Stig. Some say he's obsessed with Jennifer Lawrence's feet, and that when he yells into caves, there is no echo, but the sound of grinding metal.

And BAM! We got a movie.... Now let's call Kaz and maybe Peter or Bay for the directors.

Or should we call Mr. Kaz and Mr. Spielberg. Hmmmm....💡:sly:

Maybe it will be an insightful and dramatized film into the difficult life that one particular mechanic has had to endure, and we'll finally know why he's so depressed.

Either that or we discover that he was once before a rising star in the motorsport world, set on his way to becoming a multiple world champion before he suffered a horrific spinal injury which prevents him from looking upwards.

Ha, I was going to suggest this 👍

How about the sad story of the guys who work at GT Auto? Everyday they see people bringing awesome track cars and they have to wash them, change their oil and that's it. They get a meager pay for their hard work and never get to drive a car, except the few meters when driving a car trough the paint booth or out of the garage after a Race Mod. They actually have a bloody fight, a la Fight Club, to see who gets the honour of driving cars that little bit. Their sadness and madness is exacerbated by being forced to listen an endless loop of "The Entertainer", mocking their dispair.

See all the things that can come out of a game with no plot/storyline/dialogue/characters whatsoever?

I'm curious to how they'll make a story, as well. I guess we'll find out, sooner or later.

Sadly a story is no longer an essential requirement for a hollywood movie.

Let's face it, this is GT they are talking about - it will all be about the visuals.

Regardless of what happens, Gran Turismo will get even more brand exposure and considering that millions of people already love it, this is a good thing.

Not really. Trying to appeal to the mass market is why GT now has [arcade] levels, License tests are no longer required, and no qualifying, etc.. etc...

Hey man, you're forgetting the varying amount of engine overhauls being done or the long hours of restoring chassis rigidity.

I thought we already found out? He was depressed due to ruining Lewis Hamilton's championship hopes last year...

Nah but we all know what will happen now. Microsoft will produce FM movie right before GT movie (due to delays)

Anything that would involve an underdog rising through the ranks, having started as a street racer and going through tribulations would be a cliched waste of time and energy.

I think they'd be spot on using the term Gran Turismo as the inspiration, so it's a road movie where the car and locales are as much the star as the actors. Along the way you'd learn about the lead characters and their motivations, such as their love of cars and how they care for them. The locations could ape the Grand Tour special event in GT5 as it make its way from Switzerland to Italy and overall could present a slice of luxury and driving simulation.

At least that way it'd present an angle on one of GT's facets that didn't follow the cliche rise to the top sports drama trope. The movie Sideways proved you could make a good film that was based on a hobby - wine tasting - and still make a decent plot from it.

I... Never thought of that.

The Grand Tour! Isn't that really Gran Turismo anyway!

I don't think it'll work out well, to be honest.
8 times out of 10 (well for me anyway) the movies based off games end up horrible.

Hmm.. Making a car movie that's all about a bunch of racers going cross-country? Isn't that just a little bit.. original?

IF it turns out to be true, I just hope it'll be the first time a movie based on a game is actually good. It has worked the other way around, so showing the world it can go both ways is a must.

Nonono. The Grand Tour special event is cross country, really. It's a great base for a movie.

No doubt we'll see lots of nice cars, but all cars in the film will share the same 3 rear wings and exhaust pipes.

I would like to see a tuning garage refuse their customers too, "This car cannot be painted" and "You cannot change the wheels on this car".

Oh yeah, and someone mentioned Thunderbolt as pretty much being the spiritual GT movie already, I can definitely agree with that. Just read this summary of the plot (obvious spoilers in case you still wanna watch the whole thing, it's on YT as well):

Chan Foh To (Jackie Chan) is a junkyard mechanic and a part-time race car driver who helps the Hong Kong Police Force in their crackdown on illegal street racing in the country. One night, while helping news reporter Amy Yip (Anita Yuen) and Kong (Ken Lo) after their Mitsubishi FTO runs out of gasoline, Chan commandeers the car with Amy inside to chase after a speeding black Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 driven by the dangerous criminal driver Warner "Cougar" Kaugman (Thorsten Nickel). In the high speed car chase's climax, Chan traps Cougar in a police roadblock and has him apprehended. However, due to a lack of evidence and a warrant for arrest, Cougar is immediately released from police custody. Chan continues to be harassed by Amy, who wants to do a cover story of him.

After Chan fends off against Cougar's thugs at his junkyard, Cougar is once again arrested when Chan provides a false testimony under the guidance of Interpol agent Steve Cannon (Michael Wong). However, Cougar's thugs raid the police station and spring him out of jail. The thugs kill all but Cannon, who slays Cougar's female assistant before they get away. Cougar then destroys the junkyard and injures Chan's father Chun Tung (Chor Yuen) before taking his younger sisters Dai Mui (Wu Oi-Yan) and Sai Mui (Annie Man) hostage to force Chan to race him in Japan.

Chan and his racing team build him a yellow Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III race car and prepare for his upcoming race, receiving permission from the police to drive it on the expressway. They arrive in Japan, where Chan storms into and destroys a pachinko hall owned by a yakuza gang before Cougar allows Dai Mui to reunite with her brother. Chan makes the starting grid at Sendai Hi-Land Raceway, but his car is destroyed in a collision. Feeling sympathy for Chan, Miss Kenya (Marie Eguro), the daughter of a Mitsubishi Motors executive, supplies him with two brand-new white Mitsubishi GTO race cars and a supply of Advan tires for the race.

Chan starts at the back of the field, but muscles his way toward the front, despite a 30-second pit penalty and other distractions caused by Amy. He approaches and battles Cougar for the lead. During the final lap, both cars slide off the track into the gravel pit, facing each other as they struggle to get back on the road. Cougar gets out first, but Chan floors it in reverse before both cars cross the line in a photo finish. Chan wins the race during the spin back forward when his front end touches the finish line first. Cougar attempts to flee from the police, but Chan chases him around the circuit before sending him crashing violently off the track. Chan pulls cougar out of the burning wreckage for the police to arrest him, and Cannon reveals that he and his team rescued Sai Mui. He then reconciles with Amy and kisses her.

Gotta admit, it's a pretty bad ass story :D

Grand Tour is also a bunch of racers going cross-country, though more in a reality-tv way: meet at the Eiger and do a lap in an 8C, the best move on to Monza where you'll be given a Ferrari based on your Eiger performance etc..

I hope I didn't encourage that to actually happen.

Yeah, like I had said in one of my earlier posts, that type of "Grand Tour" movie is reminiscent of Cannonball Run, or Rat Race xD.

Or the upcoming Need For Speed. Oh, the Hollywood creativity..

Oh my god. I'm dying

So if there are more than 12 people in the cinema will the film stutter?

Half way through the film PD should rock up with an update and @#%# it up, then at some point a 12 year old has to steal his dads skyline and ruin the race by going backwards, maybe killing the main characters best friend, leaving the main character with a huge problem as there is no one to tell him to "go faster", "maintain pace", "overtake" or "slowdown".

"Gran Turismo" the movie released 2014 Q4 ( actually out 2024 )

Best.Thread.EVER (probably not, but up there anyway)

When I have to seek a laughter I think I have to come here.

Very nice mocking guys, very well done.:dopey:

There will be Easter Eggs in this movie. A picture of Kaz and "trolling" as a caption somewhere. A picture at the Nurburgring Nordschleife of any of the GT Academy winners (or only Kaz, because he's so selfish about his hobby and all ). I think the biggest troll/easter egg of them all will be paint chips. ha hahahaha hahaha ha hahahaaaaaa YEAH! very funny!

Can they use Porsche cars in the movie?
No. Kaz owns a Porsche, so he's holding out on the GT franchise and will most likely do the same thing to the movie. /s  Oh, how cynical can a man be when he worked for five years on one game that no one exactly knew about how great it would be until it released.

Try harder, people.

I hope there is no screen tearing or frame rate drop in this supposedly 1080p movie.
Let this thread become extinct with these kind of pointless posts. Let me up my post count. I have nothing but useless jokes. I would expect these jokes to be more of the same and more useless as time goes on. It's very entertaining.

As for me: Yayyyyy, I didn't double post. Blah blah crap blah crap crap crap crap. Excuse me, Ranman20, but you were the nearest post to mine to make fun of considering that 98% of the other posts are useless.

Boogie Nights, American History X. I will give my left nugget to be apart of a lug nut of the R35 in this GT-R only documentary.
