'Gran Turismo' is coming to the BIG screen!

I would like to see a serious racing drama as "Rush". Maybe about a young driver who has the dream to become a racing pro... Hope, this is not something like "Fast & Furious".

The only way this will be half good is it is entirely different than the game.

Except on one aspect: 20 GT-Rs, 40 miatas, no interior shots.

I'll watch it on a rental if it seems interesting. I have enough dignity to not flock to a movie theater to see...whatever its supposed to be.

Wow. Really...

Out of all the things they could have made a movie of...it's Gran Turismo. Haha, they gotta have something good out of their sleeves if they're gonna go as ambitious as this. I wonder what Kaz was thinking when he approved or conceived this, well...if he even knew about it. He probably was up late playing Bad Piggies when he got a phone call saying that they were making a GT movie. I wouldn't blame him if he thought it was a joke.

Check Motor Authority.

It has an article saying

"The Wrap mentions that a GT film could possibly wind up looking similar to the career part of one Lucas Ordonez"

Which may be an interesting movie... As long as it REALLY is Ordonez.

A rags to riches story 'loosely' based on the events in the game would be enough

That's about the most boring thing they could do. You could probably figure out the movie without seeing it and it just gives them more time to cover so you might lose out on detail.

Possibly, if they did it as a series of movies, it might work. For a single movie though, this will probably just end up making it generic and unview worthy.

Start with someone experienced going up against a challenge. Falling out with the race team, losing positions as the seasons go on, getting bored with LMP's and then discovering the different nature of touring cars, etc.

One good one that might actually make it GT related (because there isn't much in GT but the name that can stand out as a GT influence besides the name) is a story around the X1 development.

Anyway, I'm not expecting much, or even really looking forward to it. Maybe if an interesting trailer shows up and I get bored on a weekend I'll go.

Well, by naming it GT they've gauranteed i'll be seeing it on opening night. If they're competing with NFS & F & F, chances are it'll be complete trash. If they go the grounded in reality route you fellas have projected, i'll see it on opening, but buy it from the Playstation Store on release as well.

Franchising like this is a very fine line to tread. If they make a generic action car movie and 🤬 off the fans, i'm going to take a break from GTPlanet until it's in the $2 DVD bin at target. I don't wanna be around for that :scared:

There already is a Sonic Movie, from 1996.

Seriously though, a Gran Turismo Movie is the LAST thing this series needs, there just isn't any point.

Sure there is, it's gets more people talking about GT, and there is that old saying, 'there is no such thing as bad publicity.' Even though the Super Mario Bros. movie was a complete and total FLOP, the series survived and is thriving today. I never knew there was a Sonic movie tho

It won't come out, i heard news about the Shadow of the Colossus movie in 2011-2012 and haven't heard anything ever since, same will happen with this.

I also hope it doesn't try to appeal to mainstream tastes and try to retain the artistic nature of GT's trailers and intros. I'd rather see this movie done right and flop financially ... than going the FnF route and diluting the GT brand.
If Hollywood is involved, it's almost guaranteed that they'll violate the source material six ways to Sunday. =p

So even if, worst case scenario, the film gets panned as another poor game-movie tie in it's still good for the name, even if it's dragged through the dirt?

I see your point, but I believe the best case scenario outweighs the worst case one. I don't see Gran Turismo being a special effects extravaganza nor do I see it requiring big name stars.

For me it should go more the documentary road. A representation of the world of racing and car culture around the globe. I dont need some hollywood douchebag and a dramatic story. Just pure racing, car culture and the people around it.
Far and away the best suggestion I've seen so far. :) I'd go see this movie!

That sounds good too. But who am I kidding, I'll go see it no matter what. 👍

Better not turn out like the Fast & Furious!! Should be about a kid's dream about becoming a race car driver.

How are you people believing this? It's a HOLLYWOOD TABLOID SITE. Don't be so gullible; especially over something as ridiculous as a movie based on a driving simulator. Do you know how notorious Hollywood journalists are for starting random outlandish rumors like this? It happens all the time.

Trolled.
