Custom Race. There is Grip Level Low and Real.

Oh OK I was just doing TT, doesn't look there is an option to change in TT

Good video by David Perel on the new wet weather conditions. Will be interesting to see how the game gets tweaked over the next few months to see if they introduce any of the things he mentions (wet weather lines, slippy kerbs, aquaplaning when you are on slick tyres, etc.)

No rain in VR mode
Expected this, still disappointed though...
I really wonder how rain can be believably included in VR for open cars like the KTM, open wheelers, convertibles and so on. Might be a reason for not including it at all for PD.

I hope they let us tune the gto to at least 800 hp. Its still going to be the fastest car in the pack. But PD let us bring it to the levels of skyline r32 or above
Nope 592 hp...

I hope they release the 99 twin turbo though and maybe that's the one they will allow that.

Maybe we should implement some kind of poll in this thread to measure the global level of satisfaction in the community.
As often, people who complain are far more vocal than average, so the overall sentiment may be biased.
Many of us share the same opinion : any new content is good news, then some additions are better than other for sure. For this update I'd say 7/10 overall : car additions are good, rain mode is unfortunately incomplete but that gives me hope for upcoming updates.:D

Isn't he in TT mode? From what I was reading that would be why he's getting the grip?
Probably, but I doubt the things with the kerbs and the wet racing line will change much between modes. It's just the sort of thing that a proper racing driver would know and us norms wouldn't, so maybe they haven't modelled that into the game yet. Hopefully that sort of thing gets added at some point in the future, but I am guessing it would be very difficult to add.

I personally really love this update, as well as all of the other updates. It's always refreshing to have some new toys to play with. I know what some people say about these updates, but I like them, and they are always a lot of fun. I don't have any expectations, I'm just happy to have new content. I'm okay with anything that they add.

David Perel said on the comments below his video that he tried low and real but didn’t try yet on a lobby. The results were about the same.

He will probably post another video today to see how rain racing in a lobby environment feels.

It’s a bit let down to be honest BUT I do believe that the physics will be updated. I have faith in PD.

So apparently the rain conditions in GTS are nothing but just for looks because they do nothing to make the cars harder to drive. Is it unfortunate that i have to say that i saw this result coming?

They are harder to drive but not in a proper way.. it’s as if the handling is correlated to the tires and not the weather conditions (rain)

It is fun though BUT not realistic at all.

It is. I've used the R92CP ins Gt.3 4 lap Custom Race. No TCS. The car won't be handling like it's on rails or accelerating like it has that TTV8 out back.

E30, S2000, it ain't easy trying to finish on the podium.

This is 100% incorrect. So whatever you saw coming was wrong.

Just did a custom sf19 race in the rain, AI seem unaffected by the rain?

I was on full wets, hardly any grip, loads of understeer and went off at pretty much every corner unless I came to almost a standstill before turn in, none of the AI seemed to have any grip issues, understeer, let alone go off track the entire race...

To me so far it seems like it only effects the player.

Have you set the grip level to "Real"?

Sadly they messed up the physics of slicks on wet track, but im pretty sure there is no required parameters in current tyre model to adjust this dramatic difference in ss grip dry vs wet. Maybe later with Michelins help..

The thing he keeps saying about slippery racing line when wet i think is just too much to expect from a game other than hardcore sim. Do iRacing or Assetto simulate this? Im ok with the simplification of track dynamics where racing line is assumed more dry and thus grip. Looking at F1 the guys mostly follow racing line when wet. Other but not Verstappen that is - maybe he is relying in this method of more grip outside the line. :odd::lol:

I think the current physics - wet and dry, work better on road cars compared to gr4/3 etc. I enjoyed that mx5 a lot more than gr4/3 i tested.

Have you tried any of the cars out during wet conditions at Red Bull yet?

I think everyone in Japan will be getting a “BREAKING NEWS” alert about an angry mob setting fire to a certain office building :P (j/k)

Seriously though, they did something similar before, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they did it again.. (the vgt car(s) that were teased/shown in GT6 but didn’t get released untill GTS). But a lot more people will be ‘very unhappy’ if they were to do that again. But I’m pretty sure they won’t, it’ll come next month or the month after I guess...
Well, I only just said this because you know how PD decides when it comes to these things. It's sort of expecting the unexpected so that in the end, we wouldn't be surprised anymore if they have done something ironic here.
