If it was accidental we would see youtube pulling those streams and uploaded by the dozen, I suspect that this is quite a quite deliberate move by PD and Sony.

Its free publicity with a reduced level of potential backlash.

I remember the copperbox event footage was met with extreme backlash (I myself did feel letdown with what I've seen) so that move could've backfired.

Yeah, it's possible to create an US PSN account as long as you have a Region 1 (US) PS 4 console. No matter where you come from.
You can make any account you like on any machine. I have an EU machine. It has my UK account on it, a Japanese account, a Korean account and used to have a US account on it.

This is weird. It's the 2nd or 3rd time they close it to open it later. (EU BETA sign up) Maybe the sign up is glitching out and no one is being registered ?

Release date : 2017-08-01

Weird placeholder so I asked them if it's official and they asked the distributor which replied "the game doesn't currently have a release date"

So 2 weeks ago we had the clickbait article from Teamvvv and now all kind of retailers are starting to do the same? Nothing official has come from Sony nor PD about the GTS releasedate. So far it is stated to release somewhere in 2017. With the beta just getting started for the US, then EU followed by a "public beta" (all who have signed up), simply don't expect it to being released before the end of the year.

"public beta" -> thought it was written on official blog or by facebookguy. Can't find article for the moment so take with grain of salt...

Is there a public beta test after the close beta?I thought there is no public beta in their plans.

Know how I mentioned a Dutch friend who received a beta invite on Saturday? Here's the proof he just sent me a few minutes ago.

It was said that everyone would have a chance to test the beta. Let me see if I can find the article.

Can't find it that quickly but I thought the last phase would be for everyone to test the beta who had signed up. I'll put that within brackets for now.

There were planning an open beta for early 2016 but that was canceled at May 2016 (as the game was scheduled to be released at Nov. 2016).They did say “stay tuned for future beta activities in the run-up to launch” but this does not mean an open beta -imo-,especially if their plan is to release the game in 2017.
Unless the game goes really late 2017 I cant see an open beta coming.

Here's a translation of what was displayed in the invite:

Welcome to the GT Sport beta

You're one of the lucky people chosen for the Gran Turismo Sport Beta on PlayStation 4.

What is available in this beta?
  • Play in 25 different world-renowned racers from the U.S, Europe and Japan.
  • Run on 5 of the most frequently driven race tracks around the world in 2 provisional categories: Track and Rally.
So, there's a max. of 25 cars and 5 track variants in this beta. Also, is rally in this beta? First I've heard of it.

Just realized my PS Plus has expired, hopefully this doesn't impact my chances at getting an invite.

I'd renew in a heart beat!

Did your Dutch friend actually already downloaded and tried the Beta? Why asking? No doubt he is selected as one of the lucky few but the Dutch email is full of grammatical (Dutch) errors. Looks like a very bad translation from UK to Dutch. You know we sometimes get mails from e.g. Nigeria that you are granted $2,000,000 in cash. Well this mail has some similarities (but again hopefully I am wrong and he is already enjoying the Beta and we will follow soon)

The most possible explanation is that the guy has a US account.Yesterday I saw a US guy streaming the beta and If I heard him right,he said he just got the invite and started streaming. So it is very possible that there are people in US still getting or about to get invites and also possible that "Dutchman" has a US account.

Maybe his browser auto translates?

I know mine does...

I thought beta notifications, from what we were told were sent via the PS4/PSN message service and not by email. My thought is that he has a US PSN account, was sent a key/code on PS4 and this is automated email sent as not activated?

There are actually quite a few errors in those few sentences, just to name a few:
- Rijdt' should be 'Rijd'
- In the written language we are used to spelling out lower numbers, so 5 should be vijf (five) and 2 should be twee (two)
- 'opgewonde' in Dutch means 'excited', not exciting. I don't think painted penises on a track like the Nordschleife would count...

Therefor a reasonable doubt of the mail is authentic. If this is really a (auto translated or not) Sony mail...wow...

Don't tell my wife about the painted penises on Nordschleife plz otherwise I have to share my Playseat incl TH8A shifter with her.

Well, logged in another hour on the beta last night and I have to say that after a week, the things that I don't like about the game fade more and more into the background and the things I do like have become more pronounced.

For instance, someone mentioned that a lack of track deformation (and the like) is a bad omission given that this is Gen 8, and I agreed. But the more I race the tracks, the more entranced I become with their curves and lines, as if the flow of the track was "rocking me to sleep or into a trance." It's kind of hard to explain, but this game remains at its core like the game of Golf, where the competition is you against yourself. Although I want better AI (or maybe a Drivetar like system even) this game keeps wanting you to focus on "you against the track" or "you against your best time" and in that it succeeds masterfully.

Also, I noted (IMO) that the graphical update was not overly impressive, especially the Tokyo track. But when I switched to cockpit view, I realized that this is where the game shines the most graphically. I always play 3rd person because I want to enjoy the whole car, but the cockpit views are amazing. In the upperclass Mercedes AMG (I have 3 versions), Nissan Nismo and Renault Sport (G4 or G3), the cockpit views are especially incredible. The way the light changes in the cockpit when you come in and out of the shadows is much more compelling compared to how the lighting changes off the cars in 3rd person view.

Anyway, those were just a few extra thoughts I had. With the right car (I think G3 and G4 mostly) this game is sublime in time attack and online modes.
