Gran Turismo Sport Coming to PS4 in Fall 2017

3 Minutes of we can do pretty is fine for me from a trailer. Being entertaining is more important to me than cutting edge physics. GT series have good physics, but when it comes to comparing against the best, it falls short there, yet I find myself jumping on GT more than any other racing game.
Take Assetto Corsa for example, that is a prime example of a game that is all physics engine, and no game. I love the way AC feels and drives, but I'm not compelled to jump back in. There isn't a game behind the physics engine.
Looking at the physics in a vacuum, yes GT doesn't hold up against other games, but we don't just play a physics engine. I believe that GT is a game greater than the sum of it's parts.
Which is great for you, GTS beta manages none of that for me.

Take D4 as an example, physics are not the best, but it's got plenty to do and draws me in, just as Dirt Rally did.

GTS seems to be offering very little beyond driving (and it appears no more of a career than AC); as such I don't see a great deal to appeal from it at all

Sure is a Veyron.

Viper looking mmmmm so good.

The newest trailer looks so good. I think they killed it (in a positive way). I like this more than Forza 7 because it looks and feels more fresh. I enjoyed the beta a lot and i'm puzzled they didn't showed off the game at the grand stage. In any case, this will be a one-of-a-kind fall 2017 for racing fans.

The points raised about the need to include a single player element to support the esport are very valid. Pcars and even the likes of WRC 5 & 6 have shown that can be done. In attempting to be a console only iracing I fear that GTS will end up wide of the mark.

The single player campaign in PCars was rubbish, however.

I disagree.

I found it to be both more entertaining and engaging than anything GT 5 or 6 offered, and I'm still playing it.

It offered structured races, that follow an actual race weekend format, with appropriate rules and the ability to tailor the AI and duration to your own needs.

The only thing it didn't have was the Pavlov's dog reward system that personally I don't need or particularly enjoy.

Such is the subjective nature of such things, but I find the must win to progress nature of the likes of GT to be utterly unrealistic and breaks the immersion for me.

I guess you didnt see the Forza 7 yet? The effects on it are stunning.. Im a bit worried now that Forza 7 will destroy GT Sport. GTS is clearly behind at the moment.
I saw it alright. Looks like a slightly tweaked FM6, it still has the lightsource outside of the headlight, which is a dealbreaker for me. It doesn't look that good. GT Sport wins by miles in my opinion.

People need to understand that the footage in that trailer was NOT game-play! Just like with the trailers from GT5 and GT6 that fooled people. Number one is that the footage in the trailer is "native" 4K and we already know that GT Sport does not run in Native 4K. I have seen enough game-play form the Beta to know that the footage in this trailer is "in-engine" but no where near what the game is going to look like. The trailer was also locked to 60fps! The game itself isn't even a "locked" 60fps. People should just understand that the actual game will not look quite as good as that trailer. Polyphony are well know for doing this for pretty much every game in the series. It's just that now that actual game is almost as good as their "sizzle reel" trailers and it fools people.
Oh I know I've been playing the beta for two months now. But chill your nuts man I am entitled to my opinion, I was talking about the trailer, IT looks good. A trailer should be like this. It should build hype. And it did. What you're saying is basically saying to WoW guys "now hold on guys this cinematic intro is NOT how the game will look". It's a d'uh moment really. I've been playing Gran Turismo since the first game, like many others. All intros and trailers was looking better than the final game, but it served its purpose. It built hype. We all loved those games anyway, right?

I'm missing that "game" behind the physics in GTS? I've seen no evidence of it at all. Assetto Corso has quick race, race weekend and championships. What more does it need that GTS provides?

I've been a huge fan of the Gran Turismo series since the beginning. It was the very first racing game I ever bought way back in December 1997. I was hooked. I played the heck out of that game and it taught me a lot about car setup, driving lines etc. It was the best game I ever owned. I've bought every release since and from where it started to where it is now with GT6 is incredible. I was lucky enough to get the beta when it was released and couldn't believe it. It's a vast improvement over GT6 which I feel is the best version so far. If the beta is an indication of the game than GT Sport is going to be an incredible game/sim. I find it funny that some people are saying they aren't convinced yet on buying it or that the beta isn't that good. If that's the way you feel than great. The game/sim isn't for you. Go play Project Cars. I on the other hand can't wait for it. This will be the best one yet in the Gran Turismo series and I'm sure over the next few years they will be doing updates to improve the game, just like previous versions. I hope the fall release date is going to happen but if it doesn't I will happily wait for it. I believe GT Sport is going to be what Prologue was for GT5. GT Sport is going to be a glimpse of GT7.

well, if this GT S will have drones, spectator mode, gymkhanas, drifting, coffee breaks, many new tracks, old tuner and classic cars (and porches), fog, all those effects shown in trailer - if all that is IN- Game, then I can surely say GTS is worth 1000 euros!!!!!!!!! but considering all previous GT releases (and all were good games) trailers seem to be misleading sometimes when it comes to features!!!

One thing that I don't believe they showed in the trailer was snow. In the beta we have a option for snow tires. Back when I was a kid I was drifting old 1975 Chevy 4 door Impalas before it was cool. I might have an advantage, lol.

When future tyres choice will be possible, not only RH tyres, it could be better beyond driving as GT6 is choosing SS tyres instead of RH.

I hope there will be that option in the final game and everybody could find a more appealing driving.

Different tyre options alone are not going to resolve the issues with the physics or ffb that GTS has.

The Beta 'washed out' mountains in Dragons track must have been placeholders, look at the detail in these textures (scenery) of Dragons Trail from the trailer.

My internet has been down for quite a few days so I probably have missed quite a bit of news but this is from the main Web site to say a confirmed date is coming soon.

"With the opening of E3 in Los Angeles, California, we have released the latest trailer for the PlayStation®4 exclusive title 'Gran Turismo Sport'. The 'Gran Turismo Sport Theme Music Trailer' was created to reveal the new main theme for the next instalment of the franchise.

Details on the actual release date are planned to be announced soon.

Stay tuned for additional news regarding 'Gran Turismo Sport'!"

Three minutes of 'we can do pretty' just doesn't cut it for me at this stage. Particularly given the mess the physics are in the current beta build and PD track record.

Right now the only reason I can see for picking this up will be for comparison videos, and certainly it's behind PC2 on my to buy list by quite a margin.

The points raised about the need to include a single player element to support the esport are very valid. Pcars and even the likes of WRC 5 & 6 have shown that can be done. In attempting to be a console only iracing I fear that GTS will end up wide of the mark.

You've put my thoughts into words.
Although they have yet again produced a stunning trailer, I have doubts that will result in stunning gameplay for us.
I will buy GTS, but I'm betting Project Cars 2 will be a better drive.

For me it is the same. No interest in the racing but I am sure for photomode it will be amazing. Funny when I think it will be an E-sports title which will be used for something that hasn't got anything to do with E-Sports.

Why do you have 'no interest' in the racing??

Different tyre options alone are not going to resolve the issues with the physics or ffb that GTS has.

I totally understand where you're coming from with this @Scaff - for you this is a critical issue and you will never be able to 'unsee' it, but for me, it has no relevance really.

As an e-sport, in particular, it doesn't have to be 100% realistic, it just needs a set of rules that all the players understand. Within those rules there will hopefully be a lot of fun, some stiff competition and some top skills being shown (not by me haha).

My experience with DriveClub has shown me this. It's not realistic at all, but the online racing is amazing fun, and some of the top guys are awe-inspiring. And the amazing visuals help in a huge way. GT is quite similar in a lot of respects to that experience, and I can't wait.

Just my opinion of course.

Hope the drone and helicopters ain't just for the trailer

Not to take away from the fabulous trailer, but I'd be very cautious about assuming any of those little details - drones, the SLS entering the Tokyo track, the cars gathering at night etc - will be in any way playable.

GT5's 2009 E3 trailer is a good reference. Quite a few things in the first minute there that you couldn't really experience yourself in the actual game.

Beautiful trailer, sadly watching that for me was kind of like a visual obituary. It reminded me of what GT was from GT1 to GT5P, and now it's dead. Amazing how people see a beautiful trailer and want to buy it just based on the trailer. The job of a trailer is to make the game look exciting. Generally GT games have always been boring, even to people who like racing games. I never found them boring but I certainly could see what people were on about.

Anyway as for the 2nd trailer, it kind of irked me.

I only want it for the photomode/scapes and replays really.:guilty::scared:
This is the only reason why I would or maybe will buy it, when its 15 or 20quid.

Soooo still no info on the livery editor?
I predict it either won't be in the game on launch, or won't be a fully fledged editor on launch.

I'm missing that "game" behind the physics in GTS? I've seen no evidence of it at all. Assetto Corso has quick race, race weekend and championships. What more does it need that GTS provides?
Yes his post is truly baffling. I don't know how he/she wrote that with a straight face. Claiming other games with a career mode are missing the "game" part of the game he prefers that doesn't have a game part whatsoever. I blame it on romanticism.

PD sure are on to a winner with fans like you. Enjoy it.
And this we have GTS instead of a GT7 that makes the industry go wow you really put things right after the PS3 era failings.

Also I wouldn't get excited just yet about the RX section, remember the coffee break and how we could put cones where we wanted them?

Those were all photomode locations, it's not like you were supposed to drive there or anything.
The trailer gave the impression that those locations were both in the game and very active. Lots of people walking around, LRT's moving etc. They also gave the impression that you could have many cars placed there and that they could drive, at least at idling speed. Jets flying overhead, active and busy pits, huge crowd noises etc. Point is, half the trailer is loaded with things that never made it into the game.
