PD should never have bothered updating graphics , sounds , UI , presentation , etc ...

Hell , they should throw all 600+ standards in GT Sport , since function is apparently the ONLY thing that matters.

Sorry if people like fun , interesting and new features.
Honestly I do not get your post directed to @PzR Slim, he clearly stated his criticism with the fact GT sport mostly has been presentating "how great the game looks". I love the graphical upgrade but I would like to hear more on physical aspects of the game and other cutting edge features aswell.

You can enjoy and find it as fun as you want but it does not change the way how some people look at it as just a "graphics demonstrator simulator"

If you want to know more about the physics , play the beta.

Just because a game looks good , doesn't mean it's "form over function" , it can be both. And it is , the game is better in all aspects , sounds , graphics AND physics.

Or is the game going to be bad in the physics department just because PD made a fancy menu?

It goes without saying...

The last time I had a WTF?! moment about a 'pointless' feature in a car game was the 'walking around your car in the garage' thing in PGR4.

I understand @PzR Slim 's 'meh' attitude, each to their own, but I love stuff like this.
It's one of the major reasons why I keep coming back to GT. Their presentation is unmatched.

If you want to know more about the physics , play the beta.

One small problem, I have no PS4 so ergo no access to the beta. Whether or not I join the PS4 club hangs solely on GTS and thus far I'm not liking what I see enough for me to pull the trigger. It will be the first GT I miss.

the game is better in all aspects , sounds , graphics AND physics.

And it damned well better be all those things for how bloody long it's taking!

Of course there is plenty supporting the "form over function" thing.

- Very little single player from the looks of it, as a person who rarely plays online this is a biggie.
- Rather small car list that is even smaller once you realize some cars have 3 versions.
- Small track list with the legendary PD tracks currently MIA.
- No sign of Day/Night transitions or dynamic weather

That list may only be 4 things, but they are 4 pretty damned big things in my book. I bought 2 PS3's waiting for GT5, I'm not going to be doing the same for GT Sport.

I cannot fathom how they've managed to enable properly reflecting puddles in a scape (check the hairpin turn section)...
They managed to make a virtual car move through the scape and you can't figure out how they animate a puddle? You know reflections in water aren't new right?:odd:

The only way for you to get a feel for the physics is if you play it , if you can't or won't , it's not PD's fault.

In relation to the rest of what you said , quite simply , the game isn't out yet. 👍

if you can't or won't , it's not PD's fault.

Actually it is. PD's only job, their sole reason for being an entity, is to get people to buy the game. They've done a very good job of doing just that, but lately it seems they've lost that mojo.

In relation to the rest of what you said , quite simply , the game isn't out yet. 👍

That fact doesn't change anything I said.

- They've already shown what the singly player consists of, nothing more than glorified license tests pushing you into Sport mode. Not even a simple event creator has been hinted at.
- The car and track numbers have been advertised for some time. 177 cars with most being race versions of other cars and 19 tracks is not impressive even if they do all look amazing. If I want to look at the pretty graphics we have a very good photomode community that's a hell of a lot cheaper to experience.
- The dynamic time and weather could be in, but surely that would be worth mentioning at some point in the build-up so yeah. I guess the fog looks ok.

ctually it is. PD's only job, their sole reason for being an entity

You said you wanted to get a feel for the physics , so the only way to do so is by playing the beta or the full game. If you don't want to then you'll never get a good idea of how the game feels , no matter how much Kaz or someone else tries to explain it by words.

That fact doesn't change anything I said

The fact that the game isn't out means many things can change , as they already did.

You can complain and critique , and you can do it freely obviously , but , again , the game isn't out and many things can change.

It's called marketing. Kaz and PD are tasked with getting people to buy their product based on how they advertise it. Playing the game is a very good way to get a feel for it, but only a few thousand people have access to the beta at home and the number is even smaller for those close enough to get some time at a kiosk. For instance I have a fairly good idea what Project Cars 2 will feel like based on what SMS has unveiled and that game isn't out yet either (I also can guess what FM7 will feel like, but that's because I've played FM6 and T10 is lazy).

You are familiar with PD right? They're not going to suddenly add 100 cars and 10 tracks in a matter on months when it's taken years to get where they are. The only thing I could reasonably see being added is an event creator, everything else would most likely come post-release if at all.

that's cute . a moving picture . this game should be called " the real harry potter simulator " .
seriously , if I want to look at a car moving around a nice street i can go to youtube and find tons of videos of that same car and in 4k quality
i've been a hardcore fan of gran turismo since the first one but not anymore . I buy racing games to drive the cars , not watch them .... graphics are cool but they should not be that important in a racing game , playing a racing game for its graphics is like watching porn for the story ..... PD have been focusing on graphics more than the actual content . when you seen turn10 release a game every year and with real features. and I wont even talk about project cars 2. that game is the REAl drving sim . PD come on guys look at pcars 2 they have over 60 tracks WITH great graphics , 9 disciplines , real career , multiclass racing , up to 50 cars on the grid .... they also do esport competitions . I keep asking myselg why should I buy gt sport ? what are the things that make this game special . ohh hold on , I know . I can take picture of virtual cars ... ohhh you also have great graphics .....and That's it ? no wonder why they didn't talk about gt sport in the sony conference , because it is not a real game , it is like a demo for the power of ps4 pro.... just look at the number of tracks ????!!! when they announced the FIA partnership I was expecting real racing disciplines (wec , blancpain , single seaters ...) , a lot of famous and real tracks . instead , we have scapes , and a veyron gt4 . i bought a ps4 and g29 especially for this game as I was expecting a great game like gran turismo 3 , 4 .... especially when they said the ps4 will help them make the best game ..... we came a loong way since gt4 .
its not the real driving sim anyomre . Its the real disappointment game
ps : thats my opinion

I think this is simply your opinion and not based on facts, as it stands now the game is quiet an improvement from GT6 but fails to go on par with other competition that exists.
Sure the beta is still a WIP and it is true the game is better in sound, graphics and physics (three of their main focuses) However they seem to prioterize graphics over both of the other two and I could give two reasons why.

Number 1: While the sounds have improved over time it still lacks: character, life, a much higher fidelity of the ambient sound/doppler effect/reverb, a proper intake sound and a propper transmission whine (which in GT sport is literally just a pitch going up or down depending on your acceleration) Take a look at the competition and you can see what I mean.

Number 2: Physics, oh yes the physics which is constantly being tweaked, but as far as I can tell it is still labeled as arcadey due to its focus on casual audience. Not so much of an expert here but I believe you can head over the the physics discussion thread and @Scaff could give you a much better explanation than I could.

P.S.
I do not own a Playstation 4 but planning on getting one when I can because I love the GT series since GT1.

It's crazy how Gran Turismo 7 isn't even a topic of discussion yet. I get sick just thinking about how long it might take

I seriously love the car driving in the scapes. Takes engagement to a whole nother level. I can't help but think of how that whole standard cars thing is gonna translate altogether.

quick question does anyone know if on sport you can assign pedal controls to different buttons etc like on p cars, my brake pedal on my g29 is broken and got comfortable with a button mod for brake on p cars

15 locations / 27 layouts could work like that. Just my assumption.

1. Nürburgring (4 layouts) Nurburgring, 24H Layout, GP Track, GP Short Track (as in GT6)
2. Brands Hatch ( 2 )
3. Northern Isle Speedway (1 or 2 because of rally course from E3 trailer )
4. Blue Moon Bay ( 1 or 2 there's some infield track)
5. Tokyo Expressway ( 2 )
6. Willow Spring ( 2 )
7. Sardegna ( 1 )
8. Fisherman's Ranch ( 1 )
9. Dragon Trail ( 2 )
10. Suzuka - 3 - main course, east course, west course
11. Mount Panorama ( 1 )
12. Interlagos ( 1 )
13. Ice/Snow Track (ice tires in the BETA) (1 or 2)
14. Lago Maggiore (1)
15. ? (edit - La Sarthe)

That's 14 tracks / 23-26 layouts with 1-4 layouts for that 1 remaining track.

I just don't see PD passing out on 4 Ring and 3 Suzuka layouts especially considering Kaz said there's only one Japanese race circuit.

edit: corrected after @Zlork and @sems4arsenal observations.

edit2: so after GT FB page posted the image of 2011 Audi R18 with "Le Mans tested, Le Mans approved" I guess we now have all 15 locations ?

I think Blue Moon will have an extra layout. There are roads in the infield section.

How is it not a game?! It plays like a dream it looks like a dream and sounds (for me) like a dream, and thats only the beta......

They make some strange desisions etc but calling it a Pro demo...... naaaahhh to little respect. It will be a awsome GT game, again GT game.

The release is almost a half year away, enough time to finish it and adding stuff thats there yet. It takes long but a complete disaster game they never released so that wont happen know.

Just like all games, trailer always nicer then the product.... because they need to get people interested. We as forum people see that the normal gamers etc wont even see it ;)

And hey, allot can change before autum, think that the beta is holding back. You see it when a update comes the game is again a bit nicer and that is not because they made that in that short time, the role it in time all out untill the beta ends and then we get the full game and everybody forget the painfull way to it because of the communication etc

I promise
