I have preordered the digital version but it's not showing up to download before game launch.
I still have the demo installed on PS4 , does that mean I don't have to redownload and will it automatically update the demo version to the full game , I'm confused ?

You can download it manually in your library under ''purchased''.

Do you use a wheel by any chance? Because that might come into it, but I think what it is is that you have a skewed perception of the average gt player. I'm not the fastest player yet I thrash the AI, but I don't gold every challenge by half a second. I'm not so sure about the vast majority of tests offering a huge buffer, and have a feeling that you're underestimating your ability because you're on a forum of diehard sim enthusiasts and spend a lot of your time communicating with people in the top x% of gt players.

I mean I'm undeniably an enthusiast (I have an account don't I?) though I don't push myself that hard, have been playing GT since GT3, and I can gold every challenge marginally after on average about four or five attempts. My brother, who has also been playing GT since GT3 albeit a lot more casually, will be lucky to get a silver every now and then. We're also both controller players, like 95+% of GT players are.
I think it should be tough to get the highest level in the challenges otherwise they lose all meaning. I would have liked to have seen them use the beta and demo to figure out the standard deviations and adjust accordingly, maybe introducing a special platinum level that 1% or less of players could achieve. For the record, in GT5 TT's, 15-20% of entrants used a wheel.

I love the idea of a very hard to get platinum level award as you describe, that would make a good compromise.

If I remember correctly GT5 TT's came out long after most casuals would have given up regular playing, so it doesn't really surprise me that 15-20% of entrants used a wheel.

40 driving tests done, and only 3 annoyed me, one of the 86 brake challenges (I think the second one), the Mercedes sls on downhill Nurburgring, and the lexus rcf on Nurburgring GP. Everything else was golded within 3 tries.

Ironically enough the veyron brake challenge took forever in the demo, and I golded it first try.

So I'm watching some gameplay walkthroughs and everything is par for the course. Stupid driving tests that we've been doing for years now teaching us things that we all know how to do. All for the sake of unlocking cars because they will probably be the first/most commonly used cars online for awhile. Is this really what people still want? I don't like it and you can clearly tell it's a Japanese game. Even the music in the opening cinematic could fit in a JRPG intro without thinking twice. I'm sorry it's just so cringe worthy. All I want is to make money winning races and buy cars as I need them for online races.

So I went to my local store to check if I could pick up my Collector's Edition at 23h00 today before closing, since they are having a launch event at midnight in other, bigger, stores.

They told me, after some phone calls, I had to wait until tomorrow morning. Fair enough.

Then I asked: "Could you just check if my pre-order is already here?" "Sure", said the employee, "I'll go check it".

1 minute later he comes back to the front of the counter with a small package, size or a regular game case and says, Yes, it's here. I, looking at him with disbelief (not the first time this happens to me), said: That's not it. It should be a way bigger box. I have the receipt here for a Collector's Edition. This is the day one limited edition, he replied. That's wrong then, I said.

Fast forward 30 minutes and after he talked with the store manager, I'll be picking up a Collector's Edition tomorrow but not at 9h00am as I should. They will call me when they get the package.

I'm glad I went there... They made the same mistake apparently with someone else's CE's pre-order. I would be fuming tomorrow if I'd get there and they would give me a Day One edition.

I can't wait to get my hands on the game man. It's taking way to long. :D

That's an assumption on your part about casual participation . I'm just going by the available statistics.

I would admit to buying this game more just to leave it on standby when i'm in the room than to actually play.

It's nice.
Same here. As I don’t have much time these days playing the game, I leave the attract mode running as a nice “screensaver” on my 55KS9090! Stunning graphics, awesome chill out music...!!

I can't see actual rain droplets.

No? I can. It's not heavy rain but it's rain. :) You can see it while on the menu and then during gameplay. You see drops of rain through the wind-shield.

@baldgye It's a different one. It has a lot of pictures made from GTS scapes. I missed that one... but I have the one from GT4. :D

Well they aren't very useful in this instance. If you think about how people play games, who the vast majority of GT buyers are, what features of a game are used more than others etc. etc. you'd be able to see how unlikely it is that 100% of Gran Turismo buyers participated in the time trial events.
