GT Sport doesn't give you much to fall back on when you get sick of online racing.

-Race for fun lobbies
•All the classes you could possibly think of
-Drift lobbies
•Limbo
•Competition
•Tandem
•Tutorial
-Drag lobbies
•AWD only
•RWD only
•AWD v RWD
•Honda drags only
•HP Limited lobbies
•Muscle Only
•JDM only
•Import v Muscle
•Tuning, etc.
-Show off your liveries
-Roleplay
•Cops and Robbers
•Cruises
-Toge Runs
•Cat and Mouse
-Themed race lobbies like recreating the Goodwood Revival
-Friggin Route X top speed run lobbies for all I care
-Trackday lobbies
•Nurburgring
•Tsukuba
•Laguna Seca, etc.

Those are just off the top of my head.

Hell all I ever did before getting into Sport Mode was make my own liveries, attend and host tandem drift lobbies, limbo lobbies, and drift competition lobbies.

So your point about GT not offering much aside from Sport Mode is moot. The game is only limited by your time, imagination and open-mindedness in terms of fun. Anything else is a hardware or software issue that is out of your control.

For me right now its all about custom races on the Ring... two laps a day n400/500 vs. GT4 class which nets $150-$160k which is about as good as it gets... there's a limit to peoples imagination though especially since the last big content update was last year?

My trick is that I often load up a YT vid that I dont want to watch but has good audio content... a small 20 min podcast etc. - right now I'm interested in economics especially bail in, cyprus, coming financial issues etc.

If you want to waste time on the Ring then you may as well learn something.

Good thing is your driving performance at the Ring will always come in useful.

Of course breaking up Gr1 and GrX would do us a world of good OR make custom races more granuluar when choosing opponents.

Yeah. Sorry to freak everyone out. I'm just really struggling with some things. I think it's that while I'm trying to deal with my depression, I shouldn't be doing something stressful like competitive video games. Maybe only once I've gotten really content with things in life would be when I should consider it. I think I need to play something else, try a different hobby other than videogames, or something. I'm just not feeling well right now.

I've been there myself. A lot of times, it becomes difficult to find enjoyment in the things we routinely love. Finding another hobby can help. For me, I used to buy these small, inexpensive LEGO Creator sets for about $5 apiece. I'd buy a couple of them and mix up the parts. It was refreshingly therapeutic.

Either you were drastically slow, or the person driving the 2008 car had max power, min weight. Stop blaming the game for what is either a skill difference or a lobby setting you didn't realise was available

I was in both lobbies woth BOP turned on and disabled. On straights the Nismos just fly away leaving my NSX in the dust. This isn't a matter of skill.

That’s what I love about GT. I like Forza. But you can’t do almost any of those things online without having a private lobby with only friends. GT’s private public lobby system makes that gameplay so much more vast and entertaining with anybody.

Lol so that car is 15 seconds faster. Amazing logic.

How about you buy the car and test both for yourself

The BOP settings change every time there's a drastically different group selection for the weekly races. As a result, some cars gain an advantage over the others and dominate the leaderboard. This has always been the case.

When GTS released, for months, the top car in Gr. 3 was the Audi R8. The top car in Gr. 2 was the NSX. The top car in Gr. 4 was the Megane Trophy Cup.

BOP settings change every so often. Usually with every update, they change the physics. If you were into drag racing, this was considered a hindrance because Sport Mode meant nothing to you. A change in physics meant you had to update all your tunes, sometimes start from scratch all over again.

In relation to the discussion above about the online:

The only thing I would say to that is while GT Sport gives you a lot of freedom with its online mode, I wish its offline mode did the same thing. With that custom race mode being able only select a handful of options; I can't really do much. In Forza Motorsport 7 on the other hand, I've been able to just about create any kind of race I wanted. There's GT League mode, but it's still limited in some areas.

There haven't been major BOP Changes in ages.

And my comments were in response to someone who thinks a Gr. 2 car was 15 seconds faster than his own Gr. 2 car. Keep up.

Yea I'll agree GT is very limited in that aspect. For offline close racing carnage I go to PC2.

I do feel kinda kicked in the balls a bit with ESports. Feels as if Kaz is having his version of a mid-life crisis. He goes through all the trouble of making GT an Esports compatible game to reach some kind of fulfillment, and honestly. I don't care. Why should I care? A bunch of dudes go to a venue all lined up, and then race for a prize finish for some money and twitter clout, maybe a car manufacturer tickles their jimmies and tries to get in bed with them, but in the end. It doesn't effect me, and I don't care.

But now I have to care. As I see a lot of sacrifices being made in GT Sport just because they want the FIA signature of approval, and some ESport magic. It honestly feels as if the users who really don't give a hoot about Esports get shafted, while the previous game that had a bunch of the content people enjoyed get the big ol' shutdown making it not possible to play with your friends—or just play online in general.

That's not to say it's all bad though. I really do like the scapes, and the livery editor—which could be improved—but nonetheless is quite a good feature for the game, especially when every car is technically a Premium car.
What sucks though is the trashy N-class system with horrible balancing, and Gr. X basically being a section for cars to be left to exist in an eternal limbo where they have no set place to exist and Modern LMP cars being smashed together with Gr. C cars of the 90's

Worst of all though... Lenny Ibizarre

making it not possible to play with your friends—or just play online in general.

When has this ever happened?

Also, GT focusing towards eSports is nothing new. Have we forgotten about the GT Academy sponsored by Nissan? Several drivers had their jimmies tickled and a handful of them went to third base with Nissan.

I for one love the ability to use some of the camera angles from the eSports venues in lobbies with my friends using a keyboard.

Please elaborate this part, considering open lobby still exists, making it possible to play with your friends? And online in general?

The server for GT5 shutdown is around 5 months GT6 around 6 months when the server shutdown. and that is not very very quickly is it.
That is quick compared to other games. Less than a year is just too quick, especially for GT6 considering its successor came out on another console.

If PD want to shutdown a server in around 6 months well they can do it if they want, PD does not have to follow other games.

You mean the thing that happens to all servers of old games when a new one comes out?

Last time I checked, every Battlefield game released this generation is still has servers active on PS4 right now. Your mileage might vary in terms of how busy they are, but even Hardline, the clear black sheep of the lot, is active to a point.

Most COD games in that same time frame are still turned on, server wise.

This isn't the silver bullet point you think it is.

Of course it's going to come down to the developer and other factors. If PD wanted to make the servers 100% used for GT Sport due to the nature of the game and the online traffic it has, they may have decided that was most important.
