A bit random but I hear some odd ambient moans/howls in the background at Laguna Seca... Regardless of tv set up, car, race etc. Particularly just before the final corner. Is it just me?

Typical Salinas CA wind.

Are the class identification and the current position in class lights on select cars accurate?

I've noticed that the position lights are correct on the LMP cars.

Has anyone noticed that the only way to get the A.I. in Custom Race to have B.O.P. is to race them in a higher or lower class? If you choose an N100 car for example and choose N100 as your opponents, they'll just be stock. The stock old Fiat 500 will be in the same race as a stock Miata. Weird choice for them to make instead of just giving a B.O.P. on/off option like there is in the lobbies.

Anybody notice the intro, from Beta to Final Spec II?

Listen to the Moon Over the Castle bit and compare. Nice touch of detail, reflecting the progression of the game itself:

It should have classes lower than N100. That's the main problem.

Lower than N100? Hmmm, they could call it... 💡

N-ever get up that hill, will it! :sly:

N50 Kei Class?

They have 48kW 64hp? The only sim I can remember that did cars this slow as a class was sort of the old F class in Forza 4 back in 2011.

Driving super minis like Toyota Yaris and the like on the shortened Suzuka West or whatever it was.

This makes for super boring races and would only be tolerated on the very introductory Sunday Cups on League.

Did another category full and narrowed down to one car per category and several cars needed for various Nations, Sport Mode and GT League races.

Already had the Safety car and my GR.3/4 Manu cars. Deleted the LHTT Sauber(prefer the 787B) and AMG GT3.

De-tuned the FLaF to N900(933BHP), as the Veyron is closer to 1000BHP.

N300 is the worse. So many nice cars to choose. NSX-R is a classic, but made a choice from the new to the franchise cars. Love the 930T and FuguZ. However, couldn't pass on the 993. FuguZ revs higher, but those three-piece wheels on the 993.... :D

They should call it "Sub-N100", because it's below that category.

Yeah it's a little bizarre how that works, maybe its a way to compensate for certain N classes not having more than a couple of cars. The base R35 seems to be a real rabbit in N900 though

Took the Amuse GT1 for a spin in N600 Customer K. race. Since when did PD fix the off-throttle oversteer? This thing is hooked up and finally a lethal weapon!

I'm not a fan of rally cars so I really don't care. But I was wondering.

Why is there no Suzuki Rally car? Swift/Escudo/any car Monster Tajima won in. Just seems weird.

That is a hillclimb car which is a different discipline than rally.

Suzuki has been present in rally, the most recent being the Swift. It was in Sébastien Loeb Rally EVO.

The thing was always a winner... in fact I would call it typical PD Japanese bias.

On original format I used it on N400/500/600 races and the thing is just unstoppable in most circumstances against everyone as long as you got a grip on the handling... granted mine was maxxed out on power and weight and a HSG.

So I grabbed one of the unused dozen I have. Praiano tune, no upgrades and the thing is still just as potent. I dont remember if it handled worse but I didnt have a problem with it before.

It has two vices... it can power oversteer at the top end, big deal... I actually use it to power slide the car into tight corners and then let go when the nose is pointed correctly then put the power down.

2nd vice is the top speed isnt good. N500 does 270km/h? You can play with aero but I think its like the Daytona.

You trade off cornering downforce for straight line speed. It has so much cornering you can probably use low as possible aero.

What can one say about a car that is only 1,100kg anywhere from 440-640hp and its pretty progressive being a VTEC 2.5 w/ turbo AND a 7 speed gearbox so you have lots of flexibilty.

I dont use it, Its too good.

The combustion engine is 268 hp @ 6000 rpm. The total output with the hybrid system is 493 hp.
It's the same with the hybrid LeMans cars. They show the power numbers lower than the total output. It's confusing.
The battery doesn't work full time though - the Porsche 919 gives a grand total of 1000 HP but only for a few seconds. PD may need to show that figure somewhere in the stats sheet, e.g "1000HP with hybrid boost"

There's a LOT wrong with Group 1/X hybrids. I feel like it may be because PD rushed a lot of cars into the game and they didnt seem to think carefully about how hybrids work.

Further I think they 'converted' cars to hybrid down the line as they fine tuned certain models.

I'm 99% certain the two Gr1/X McLaren VGTs were pure combustion in the early days and they nerfed the handling and they added a hybrid battery but they didnt change the power.... the Gr1 was always about 930hp.

Further, the Audi R8 2016 was always a weird one. I've driven it day one given it was an early gift to me and I just didnt have any LMP-H cars to compete so this is what I used. This is classic PD gameplay IMO.

Here's a free car. Use it. Or not... or pay $1mil. for something else.

Well I dont have money so I was forced to learn to drive it.

The car has 525hp diesel power. It is 4wd in real life but PD says its MR. The cutaway diagrams clearly show front driveshafts for diesel power.

The car has 450hp for electric power. Even now I'm still not certain it funnels the electric thru all four wheels. I assume it does. It sometimes doesnt feel like it.

The computers onboard will only funnel the electric power in slowish corners and standing starts to get going. Then it uses diesel power to get to about 340km/h. It isnt a top speed car IMO but it does handle nice with very few power problems except for excess power oversteer at low speeds.

The car tries to limit electric power to save battery mostly. And also I think regs dont allow Audi to use electric power at higher speeds and I think electric power isnt all that efficient when hitting VMAX.

There's also a perception problem. Why would anyone drive a "525hp" car when the competition has 725, 930 or even more hp?

PD clearly dont explain why a "525hp" car so often beats everything else bar the McLaren on ovals etc.

Well, a week after starting another new game, decided to do Circuit Experience and Driving School.

CE too 5.5 hours. Same 36 cars I always received after the Laguna Seca update.

Driving School was a little different. Took exactly one hour.
I've experienced changes in some cars regardless of update. Some cars were different after completing a tier. This time, I couldn't believe it.

First, was the MR2. That was different. Next, came the shocker

I had gotten a Tundra in previous restarts. Instead of the light stopping on the black Tundra I'd gotten before, it stops right on the Miura!

After that, I got the Cobra as "normal". Next, I get the M3, which is different. From there, the same Audi as in previous restarts. It's been a Peugeot 908 before and once or twice, the dirty Audi.

Next, I'll,see if the Missions Challenges switch up the rewards cars or not.

I gave up the mission challenges after reaching 6-8 because sinking an hour into it just does not look like fun. They should've ramped up the multipliers instead.

I didnt dedicate too much time to the challenges but none of them are too difficult given that they have decreased the difficulty over subsequent updates.

A popular game, Rocket League by Psyonix (originally released July 2015) is going to switch to free-to-play starting soon. Meaning online won't require PS+. Logical , I suppose but also interesting to see the effort to extent interest in the games that maintain popularity.

https://www.thesixthaxis.com/2020/0...-to-play-launch-release-date-ps4-xbox-switch/

Thanks for the update! Have always had an interest in this game so now that Free to Play is coming I may well add it to my library
