And the Porsche Carrera GT and 918 Spyder?
I’d just put those two in the N-Series, since they’re both road-legal. Besides, there are plenty of road-legal Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren models the Carrera GT and 918 could compete with within the N-Series, like the Lamborghini Veneno, the Ferrari LaFerrari, and the McLaren P1. (Whereas for that last model, the P1 GTR is track-only, but the regular P1 is indeed road-legal.)
Now, on the other hand, I would actually add the new Porsche 935 from 2019 to this new group, as that car is not road-legal. Otherwise, my list so far for this new group, meant for track-only cars, is as follows:
Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro
Aston Martin Vulcan
Ferrari 488 GT Modificata
Ferrari FXX
Ferrari FXX-K
Ferrari P80/C
Lamborghini SCV12 Essenza
McLaren P1 GTR
McLaren Senna GTR
Pagani Huayra R
Pagani Zonda R
Porsche 935 (2019)
Though personally, I’d be fine with just the new 935, the SCV12, and the P80/C being introduced to the series, with the P1 GTR, the Zonda R, and the Vulcan returning from GTS. (Plus the FXX could return from GT6, too.) But I do hope we get the Valkyrie in some form or another, as I hear the original Valkyrie is indeed road-legal. Similarly, I’m hoping for the Zonda F, as an N-Series model to compliment the Zonda R. I have the same sentiments on the McLaren P1.
Still, I wonder if the bad brakes on the Vulcan in GTS was potentially a
way of balancing a track-only car to be in the N-Series, whereas PD realized their “mistake” and decided to put other track-only cars into Gr.X for now, as I don’t recall the Zonda R nor P1 GTR being there at launch.
However, it also may be a good idea to keep these cars in Gr.X, as in GTS,
the P1 GTR can deploy DRS, so that could pose its own issues for balancing - let alone any other cars I had in mind that had similar technologies.
In that case, I suppose I’d like the track-only cars being kept to a minimum, between the P1 GTR, Vulcan, Zonda R, and FXX, as it’d be better to have more cars added if they can be added to a class, whether it’s returning from GTS like the N-Series or Gr.3, or a new class altogether, like a class I had in mind for vintage prototype racers such as the Ferrari 330 P4.
At any rate, I’m hoping that the Vulcan and FXX join Gr.X in GT7 if they return, rather than be in the N-Series where even in a better-case scenario, they might have an unfair advantage.
