Didn't someone say that Jordan said the site update was coming in July? I can't see it being brought forward this far, especially only a few days after he said that.
I personally rule that out too, as that monkey "tonight" gif today shouldnt be posted in the GT Sport news section then - so to me that "tonight" reference definitly have to be something GTS related.

He did. I think we can safely discount that, then. Thinking back, we do know (well, not 100% for certain, but the hints are there) that a number of key staff have been invited to the London beta test, so I think something of reasonable importance might be taking place. I'm just concerned by the fact that it's up to us to decide whether it's "good or bad", which means this might not be to everyone's liking. Feels like a warning...

Edit: it's not going to be completely out of the blue. Someone has said something "right on the money", so one of us has correctly guessed it.

Exactly, i guess we wont be getting much today, maybe just an official announcement for that London event without an trailer or anything - maybe that announcement is GTPlanet exclusive and therefore the site staff is so happy about it!

The Hype Train is slowing down guys, jump off!

....If this whole thing turns out to be nothing, than I've got a puuurrrrfect meme to spam.

Hopefully the "whatever it is" turns out to be a good one...

I agree, but then again, the leaked invitation letter did call it "the final beta event", which can be speculated as meaning that there will be something taking place before May 19th.

Maybe there will be a time trial event like GT Academy, and then finalists compete against those invited to London (which appears to be racers and people closely affiliated with GT)?

Of course this is all speculation, but the usage of "final beta event" in the invite does open up possibilities.

SlipZtrEm liked this one post... could this be the guess that's "right on the money"?:sly:

I don't think they will just announce release date without saying anything about the game. Release date is something that will be good for E3 presenatation.

I really can't see a release date being announced before they've even shown off or told us pretty much anything about it. Full detail reveal has to come first, surely.
It can happen (I'm not saying it will, seriously), Pokemon Sun and Moon got a release date in its very first 'real' trailer...perhaps PD are sticking to the idea of having the game on a 'need to know' basis right now!

It happens occasionally. An example would be the first actual trailer for the latest pokemon game included the release date at the end of it.

It's not impossible, but it would be weird indeed

Honestly, I'm not expecting anything too big to happen (if and when it does happen). I find a beta release to be very unlikely knowing the event in London. However, the biggest thing that I can think that can most likely happen is a trailer with some official dates.

And yes, I'm lowering my hype levels so I don't arrive at Disappointmentville with the others. :P
