Honestly, why would anyone have expected anything different? We all knew the event was coming soon, and it was yet to be announced. There was no reason to expect them to reveal anything major while announcing the event, maybe a single new promotional pic at best.

I think it was probably the build up it was given today. We already knew about the event next week so don't know why it's announcement needed such a big build up. Think people read far too much into that.
