There's a time limit on the viewer's end (no repeat viewings), but availability of content is pretty long. IIRC, it takes about a month or two to not be able to access someone's shared photo/video.
It's a very user-unfriendly app compared to something like Instagram, but I can't blame PD for jumping at it, since it's massively popular for marketing folks.

Hey everyone. So, I was having a look in the description of the GT Sport YouTube livestream, and I noticed that it shows you who will be hosting the stream.
Seeing Ben's name caught my eye. Now, if anyone has watched BBC F1 from 2012 onwards, or Channel 4 F1 now, you'll know that he's one of the commentators for qualifying and the race. Personally, I really like his energetic style of commentating, it brings another level of excitement to it for me, and if this is the Ben Edwards that I'm thinking about, then I'm even more hyped.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they will be, as far as I know, all YouTube livestreams turn into videos as soon as they're finished.

Even if PD/Sony don't share it, and I'm sure they will, someone else will definitely capture it.

It seems pretty pointless to me if things disappear when you have plenty of places to share stuff where that doesn't happen but as you say, PD getting down with the kids obviously.

Hopefully creating a Snapchat account for Gran Turismo means PD will interact more and showcase what goes on behind the scenes, which happens to be the most common purpose of Snapchat for businesses and organisations. But then again, that's what we thought when the Pitstop blog was released.
