Another tense race in an A/S lobby. Used the Genesis X. Qualified 4th with a 147:381.

Started on softs and the first lap was incident free. Really weird thing happened on the front stretch as I was closely drafting third place. Out of nowhere he just spun and hit the wall, as if I had turned him around. I didn't touch him. Lag or something?

Anyway, now in 3rd, the two leaders started pulling away and battling close. I had cars close behind me so it was a tense first stint. At some point the polesitter spun for some reason and I was second but without pace to catch the leader so I settled in and tried for consistency.

Pit on end of lap 9 for mediums and came out mid-pack. When the stops were over I was only back up to third. The polesitter who spun ended up getting past me but I wasn't surprised. He was in my last race and in that one he pulled an incredible late brake on me and drove away. So I didn't fight it. Then I had @Egghaus88 breathing down my neck for the rest of the race.

Came home fourth, 12s from the lead. Not sure how I got shuffled back during the stops but, oh well, 183 points are good.

Was happy the supposed Supra dominance didn't really show up in my race. There were a few in the race but pole position went to a Hyundai and the win to a Porsche. From what I've seen the RSR is (still) the best race car. Will be interesting to see how they all go in the 3 Manufacturers rounds.

Hmmm interesting. I know Porsche is generally a popular pick but this has surprised me. I was kinda hoping people were going to ignore it this time round as it is a dark horse at Daytona. I was going to pick it but don’t like picking the most popular manufacturer. Matched my fastest race time with it in practice. Not the best top end but decent, but brilliant through the infield. No fuel worries whatsoever too. I’m not convinced the Supra is meta at Daytona.

I thought your name seemed familiar - I was in there suffering with you! I was in the Ford GT LM. That race was a complete disaster for me as well. I screwed up my first flying lap in quali with a track limits penalty but thankfully stuck the second for P5. I thought I'd start on the Mediums but that could well have been the worst possible decision I could have made.

Trying to get around in the relatively understeery GT LM on cold Mediums in dirty air with Supras on Softs being ultra aggressive behind is not fun. I was just pressured into mistake after mistake and fell all the way to the back. Trying to work my way back up afterwards was damn near impossible, it's so difficult to pass someone here.



My second attempt went slightly better although it was in a much stronger lobby. I was in with some people with A for SR so I think I'd done my rating a bit of damage in the first one. Started P11, finished P9 thanks to some major mistakes from others. Besides that, it was a bit processional other than being divebombed from space by a Nissan into the tight sector 1 hairpin and then undercutting him to get back in front. Just ended up stuck behind a Supra the whole way through my second stint, completely unable to get past.



I think I might give the Manufacturers a miss and take a short break, then come back for the main season. I'm on a bit of a downward spiral at the moment, lots of races going badly. Maybe I need a chance to disengage and come back with a fresh perspective...

Ahh yes that was you, unlucky after that good quali you had. I went 0,7 sec faster in practice than actual quali, probably didn't matter much. Ofc super easy to be smart afterwards, but I think if you went with softs in race 1, you'd would have had better results 🤔

I tend to go on the softest tires in the race always when qualifying TOP5. Very risky to go for the harder tire and risk getting swallowed up by drivers behind and end up in fights. I had this happen a few times in GTS and I realised I get better results by going on attack with the softest tires, sometimes I pit right with the leaders. I rather do this - build a gap and let them squabble behind, and then maybe 1 or 2 fast drivers pass you from behind on second stint. And you have an easy choice of letting them past you without a fight. Unless it is like last 2 laps and there is no one else queing up after the soft runner right behind you, then you defend even on the worse tires.

Some of us chose the Porsche because it's always our Manufacturer, even with the Cayman which has its strengths and weaknesses just like other cars in that class. Good to see others are starting to appreciate it as well, although I prefer a multi-make race rather than a one-make.

Had a great and intense race tonight with @icycls and I believe @jimihemmy was in there too. If it was you, sorry for not saying hi because I thought that name was familiar and came back to this thread and saw it may have been you.

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and qualified with a 1:48.09 and my best in practice was a 1:47.90 so I was super happy to finally get in a decent qt.
Placed me p4 on this grid which is about my best start in this type of event.

I raced the RCZ and did well hanging on in p3-p4 for 6-7 laps by drafting the supras on the finish straight.
I was getting a lot of pressure coming into one of the turns just before the first tunnel and spun a little bit and then got whacked into facing backwards as the guy following had no way to avoid me.

Got going again and was in p7 with p6 and p5 right in front of me. Their pace wasn’t very consistent and it was tough following very closely so couldn’t find a good pass and I pitted on lap 9 for my RM’s.

I moved up to p6 in a few laps after the pit and caught up to p4 and p5 with three about laps to go. P5 had a small spin right after the chicane but I couldn’t get by before the bridge so I bump drafted him a few times and then I caught a little bit of the finish straight tunnel as I was leaving it and killed my speed on the long straight.
This brought p7 supra on my tail and bearing down quick.

Last lap feeling a ton of pressure i slightly overcooked the right hairpin at t4 I think it was. P5 was a little outside so I ended up bumping him enough to knock and slow him but not off course at all. I slowed down on the edge and let him by and I was barely able to stay ahead of p7.

Nail biter through the remainder of the final lap with a Supra running me down coming out of the tunnel on the finish straight. He was drafting me and went for the pass at about the 150 mark and he got beside me but didn’t make it before the line. I was sure he was going by and I’m not sure if he just let me have p6 because I was certain that the Supra was going to take me once he started the pass. Adrenaline race for the duration lol.

Had great fun with all three events and looking forward to the Manu race this weekend.

yeah, good to see you too - I sometimes get confused who are my lobby "regulars" and who I see here on gtp.

I recall being held up by that Lancer in some of my early laps where I just wasn't driving well. Just couldn't get past them, but felt like I should have. Wouldn't have mattered with all of my own mistakes!

As the race was going to be a disaster anyway I decided to try something Ferrari-ish and went for the idiotic M-S-S 2-stopper, pitting end of lap 1.

I ended up doing something similar accidentally. I pitted at the end of lap 8 to switch from Softs to Mediums, but my finger slipped and I ended up selecting Softs instead. As a result, I had to do a two-stop strategy, lol.

Fortunately, I only slipped from 8th to 10th place, which isn't too bad. However, I didn't feel motivated to play again since I could easily finish worse than 10th in the next attempt. I was getting tired and becoming less consistent.

From what I see on that Interlagos chart, MR cars are about 1s faster than FR cars over one lap. Of course, race pace is something else, but that's a pretty huge difference for qualifying purposes.

As I still contemplate my Subaru/Hyundai dilemma, it's painful to see the WRX among the slowest of them all.

Yeah the MRs are looking good round Interlagos.
One lap pace I think it’s basically any car and comes down to skill rather than car. But race pace…yeah is totally different. The key overtaking spots are the straights though which then plays into the Supra hands. Going to be good race I think.


As for Daytona. As you need to do some fuel saving, I’ve noticed the Supra is quite heavy on fuel. Might be fast but you have to do more fuel saving than some other cars. I wonder if Supra drivers can go flat out pit and still win? Pit lane loss not too bad on this track.

Aren't the MR cars much harder on tires, though? I used the Lambo at the DT daily a few weeks back and it drove fantastic... until about half way through the race when the tires started to wear. Pictorially, they didn't look too bad but the car started driving like the old Lambo we all knew and hated.

I just can't believe it's 26 laps on RH tires and no strat. Like...... why?

My randomiser gave me my first duplicate Manu and I was with Lambo again for 1 race.

Had a really good race.

Mucked up my qualifying by running wide through Murgulo and spinning to the infield. Ended up P13 on the grid. I was laughing at people revving on the grid as my practice left me with tight fuel at the end.
I mucked up T1 and hit someone who thankfully held it but I was down to last. From there it was a case of people binning it, getting penalties or being faster as I was out of position. 1 guy in a BRZ even pit themselves on me in a stupid move.
Lap 5 and I made this good move around the outside of the Senna S.

From there I had a good battle with a 911 who was very clean and we swapped positions a few times until they binned it through Ferradura. Another Mercedes binned it on the entrance to Bico do Pato and I was now in 5th and closing on 4th and 3rd. However it was just beyond me and 5th and 63points were my prize. A very good recovery and the Lambo didn't misbehave once! Also the fuel in custom races is different to the event it seems as I had laps of fuel to spare in the end.

All the fun for me was in practicing in this race. The race itself was mwehhhh at best

Coming home from the vet after the annual cat's check up, also known as the yearly trip of horror, I entered the 11.00 lt race.

Qualifying did not go very well, only got one (sloppy) lap and was a second slower then in practice but it was still good enough for second, behind a Spanish McLaren.

Start did not go very well, braked to late and made contact with the McLaren. I let go of the throttle to let him past again but that meant that I had several cars right at my rear. At Descida do Lago A Porsche that was about in sixth position outbraked himself and caused a bit of mayhem resulting in a lot of contacts and after that I was in 6th or 7th position. Managed to make up all those places in no time and pretty soon I was back in second, chasing the McLaren. Had a nice fight with a Ferrari, although a bit fysical...

After a few laps I was right behind the leader and stayed there for a few laps till we had sufficient distance from the rest. Several times I came close to an overtake but he was defending strong, sometimes to much, with a bit of blocking and moving under braking. So backed out a few times. Then lap 15 I was right at this tail and started to prepare to overtake. Well, this happened:



I tried to back out and breaked earlier then him, but could not avoid contact. Nut sure if it is was the actual contact that caused his spin or that he used to much throttle too, but in any case he spinned and I was in the lead.
Not the way I want to race, and concidered quitting the race but on the other hand really wanted to see the replay to see what actually had happened. Besides that, I had quitted a few to many races lately so wanted to finish anyway.

After that it was only a matter to get to the chequered flag, won with about 8 seconds in front. But have to say that this was a win that I have no real joy about.

The Austrian Ferrari I encountered in last week race at RBR was also in this race, He got taken out a few corners later but got fastest lap, was about a tenth faster then me in the end.

Not a bad race today. Bit boring once we got halfway through with the field spread.

Car - ended up going Porsche. Really wanted to Audi but just a bit too drifty in some corners,

Quali - Pretty rubbish really. 1.33.6 my best TT time but in Quali I could only manage a low 1.35. Made a error on my first lap and then 2nd lap made a few tiny mistakes as I just wanted to put a lap in.

Race - starting P10. Into T1 im on the inside but a car on the outside did a Verstappen overtake and pushed me off in T2. Then T4 with dirty tyres I get clipped again and now last. Carried on it’s a good practice session. As the race goes on I’m slowly catching the pack ahead. Halfway through a few cars ended up pitting which I wasn’t expecting, and jumped up to P11. Lap 20 I caught a BRZ who was either lagging or driving really badly. Their connection was showing 5 green bars, but the car was weaving left and right (checked the replay and it was really and driving, they were moving the steering ever so slightly to block I think). I managed to overtake them into T4 but the next corner they sent it on me and pushed me off. Luckily I only lost a few seconds. Caught up with them again and this time make an overtake and I’m clear through. Ended up finishing P10 which was 80 points. Was aiming for a top 6 (which was 100+ points)

That my racing over with today I think. Been suffering with pain in my right wrist. Not sure if it a trap nerve or I just need to crack the joint. As i got towards the end of the race the pain was pretty bad. I was going to go again, but I think I’m done. Might see how I feel in the evening slots.

Once last thing……im pretty sure we had a A+ driver in our race. They didn’t set a lap time, started last, and won by 20 seconds to P2. The rest of the field was separated by 20 seconds from P2 to me in P10. Also they were driving the Citroen. Average lap time was a mid 1.33 while short shifting too. The rest of the lobby was at 1.34/1.35’s.
I think PD need to sort out this GT1 league issue. I know it’s only exhibition season but at the end of the day that potentially one spot in the race I lost out too.

I ran the 12 am slot on B/S EMEA. Used the McLaren, pretty good drive around here. Didn't need to save fuel nor caring a lot for the tyres. From P7 to P2 since a lot of people started fighting instead working together on a 40 min race. The Supras seemed to suffer from tyre wear because I overtook 2 of them on the final 5 laps.
Even with all the fighting in the lobby, was a pretty clean race tbh. Only witnessed 1 crash between 2 cars.

Have to say I think that is 60/40 on you there. You didn’t really do much there apart from race your lines but you just slightly tap them wide on to the curb which then causes them to spin.
The weaving on the straight from the McLaren was dirty. Might not look like much but those slight movements stop you from picking a side.
The overtake at T1. The McLaren could have left you a bit more space on the inside. Then on the exit due to your tighter line your naturally going to run a little wide, but also sound like your on the throttle too and unfortunately you just clip them, which causes the rest.

Euro GT2 (low B).

Jumped into a round with only time for one warm-up lap. A mistake as I hadn't really figured out the braking points. Managed to sneak into the 1:34s in qualification, put me P6 in the AMG GT3.

First corner I messed up, missed my braking point whilst going inside a Supra and rear-ended the P3 Porsche. Pushed them off track but luckily not too far, so their race wasn't totally compromised. Was P3 through the lap but the 5 sec penalty, plus another couple for track limits over the first 4 laps, dropped me outside the top 12 before I could find my rhythm.

Eventually figured things out and put in some decent laps coming back through the field. Had a nice battle with the other AMG in the race, about 10 laps close together before they span out on a kerb. Think they had the TC off, I find with the new physics I need it at 2 in this car.

No issues with tyre wear or fuel so I was able to bring it home for a P6. No spins or other crashes, just those first few dumb laps. About 20s behind the P2-P5 pack and 40s behind the leader.

Think this one was for the MRs (top 4 in my round), a bit too much understeer in the front-engined cars to keep up, especially in the middle sector. Hopefully Daytona swings more our way.

GT2 B
Did two races in my Renault RS.01

1st go: qualified P11 did a bad lap with 1.36 , race uff this one was punt fest i been in a near top 5 position but some nice guy punted me over to side 3 times! omg , he even did that to other people , we seriously need better penalty system in GTWS especially , ended up in P10 meh

2nd try: qualified P7 with 1.35 much harder lobby with better drivers , race on this went much better just before somebody punted me over lol dropped to P16 almost rage quited but i kept going people did mistakes , managed to climb back into top 10 and near the end got into P6 - if i did less track penalties i would have been in the podium most likely but i am satisfied with my result

Ok, I enjoyed this race more than I could ever imagined The Ferrari is good, and I did a great wonder lap to take pole

That's a shame that I couldn't convert it into a victory, because of:
1) the guys in the RCZ were really good, especially at the beginning (also probably didn't need fuel saving that much)
2) At 23:05 I decided to almost ruin another guy race with a punt, which luckily ended up being irrelevant (but I got a 2 seconds penalty)

But the pass I made at 27:52 ? French kiss material 😘

GT1, DR A

Only my second GTWS Manufacturer race on GT7, and my first across both 7 and GTS in something other than Honda. Ended up signing with VW, as I have a large soft spot for the Beetle, and increasingly enjoy the way it drives (and love the way it sounds).

My qualifying was average at best. Managed a 1:34.0, which got my 13th. A 1:33 was definitely achievable, but I messed up sector 2 on my final lap sadly.

The race itself was largely straight-forward. First 2 laps were close, with a gaggle of us trying to sort ourselves out. It's was a very clean race too, with a group of 4 us having a great battle for around 10th. Interestingly 2 people decided to pit (unsurprisingly it didn't work), and two DNF'd. In the end P8 is a result I'll happily take, after a superb tussle with a Brit in a Supra, who struggled with front tyre wear it seemed
Though mine weren't any better! (Supra's in general struggled on tyres). It was an RCZ 1-2 up front, with a 458 in 3rd.

P6 or 7 might have been possible, had I not incurred a track limit penalty on the exit of T3 . But I'll happily take those 154pts and leave it at that. Beetle was very consistent to drive, and good on fuel too. Daytona might be better suited for it perhaps 🤔

Jumped into first Americas lobby. I'm driving Mitsubishi, just because I had some podiums in the dailies with this car at Interlagos. But I didn't really test it after the update and I had my suspicions that it wasn't as quick and that seemed to be the case here. In my practice laps, I could only make 1:34s a handful of laps, mostly 1:35s.

The lobby was worth 91 points for win and I started P7. P8 on cold tires was a real pest, trying to nudge me out but I survive lap 1 and settle in. I kept my position, advancing a bit when someone spun.

I am running clean, consistent laps, never gaining, never losing. Late in the race (lap 17,18?) I pass a 911 serving a penalty to get P5. He has better pace than me but just kept trying to cut me in the corners. To be fair, he woudl back off but kept trying, spinning me slightly at the last turn before the penalty zone. This allows another driver to pass us both! Really, all he had to do was worry about his exit speed and he woudl have eventually had me. (He later spun and fell back).

I hold on to get P6 with a CRB! Not a bad result given that the Lancer just doesn't seem to have the same pace (and I am never the fastest lapper). Just goes to show - run clean, consistent laps in these races and you always have a shot.

Daytona - no chance (and wednesdays are hard for me, might even skip)
Nord - relearn EVERY corner and run clean.... maybe.

That was great commitment. No way I would’ve dared to squeeze through that gap, or trust the other driver not to wall me.

After taking the previous few Manufactures Cup seasons off, I decided to give this one a go. I chose Ford as I wanted to give the Mustang another run as it gave me success in the past. But it over-steers so much I couldn't keep it under control. So, I hop in the GT Race Car '18 and hope for the best. I did run some test races beforehand so I knew I could do the no-stop with some fuel saving.

I entered the GT2 11am first slot in the Americas and manage to set a qualifying time of 1:35.159 which was good for P4. I probably would have had another spot or two, but I just cut the pit entry line and invalided my second lap. The race starts and we all successfully navigate the Senna S, and I decide to run wide exiting turn 4 and fall to dead last. Recovery drive mode activated as this is a long race and anything can happen. I slowly make my way up the field and at one point get to P6. But, with like 10 laps to go the car decides that it doesn't want to turn in and lose grip at which lead to some wild recoveries. That puts me back in P8 as others take advantage. I get the car under control again and make a pass for P7 where I finish with 61 points. I had a nice battle with a Porsche and a Ferrari as we all fought for P6 in the second half of the race. Some contact, but I'll put that on worn tires and not deliberate ram attempts.

I think that my result was pretty good considering it's the first time I've ran the GT Race Car in a race and Interlagos isn't one of the better tracks I race at. It was still a nice driving car and I don't think that I'll have problems at Daytona on Wednesday.
