Can't blame you going with Ferrari, the Gr. 4 458 is nice. I generally get on better with FR cars at this point, but as MR goes I really like it and the NSX. and yeah, the sound of the 458 never gets old. I used to default to he 458 in Gr. 4, and the RX Vision in Gr. 3 for non-stop screaming engines :)
it really was just "engine go vroom". i used the R92CP in the nations race for meta purposes but was laser focused on the sound of any 787B that came near me

this is my first foray into the competitive series' and also my first heavy MR use and I have to say I am loving the oversteer i can generate from shifting the weight of the car. I was basically an occasional daily race A driver if there was a fun car and still have fewer than 50 sport mode races. i actually avoided the 911RSR (and other non front engine cars) in favor of the AMG in the few GT3 dailies i did because i wasn't comfortable with the increased instability, i am now

couple VR videos from prior races:

Manufacturers Round 2, got torpedoed twice and went from like 3rd or 4th to last, and both guys who got me quit so I was pissed but not at anyone in front of me. The little drift got my heart rate up.

Manufacturers Round 3, was following this guy for two laps and finally got my chance. I feel like he tried to rub me out twice but only half-heartedly so. you can see me kind of road rage out on the final straight and shake my head and say "you better not shadow realm me at the end of tiergarten"

The rain in Spain falls on the plain. There is joy and also pain, but the rain in Spain falls on the plain.

Time's a sheet, life's a stain,
All the things we know will change and all those things remain the same, but be ye mad or only sane, the rain in Spain falls on the plain.

We walk in love but fly in chains
. And the planes in Spain fall in the rain.

… Poor Professor Higgins!
Poor Professor Higgins!
Night and day
He slaves away!
Oh, poor Professor Higgins!
All day long
On his feet;
Up and down until he's numb;
Doesn't rest;
Doesn't eat;
Doesn't touch a crumb!
Poor Professor Higgins!
Poor Professor Higgins!
On he plods
Against all odds;
Oh, poor Professor Higgins!
Nine p.m.
Ten p.m.
On through midnight ev'ry night.
One a.m.
Two a.m.
Three...!
Quit, Professor Higgins!
Quit, Professor Higgins!
Hear our plea
Or payday we
Will quit, Professor Higgins!
Ay not I,
O not Ow,
Pounding pounding in our brain.
Ay not I,
O not Ow,
Don't say "Rine, " say "Rain"
… The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain!
… By George, she's got it!
By George, she's got it!
Now, once again where does it rain?
… On the plain! On the plain!
… And where's that soggy plain?
… In Spain! In Spain!
… The three
The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain!
The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain!
… In Hartford, Hereford, and Hampshire...?
… Hurricanes hardly happen.
How kind of you to let me come!
… Now once again, where does it rain?
… On the plain! On the plain!
… And where's that blasted plain?
… In Spain! In Spain!
… The three
The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain!

I'm notoriously bad on tires, but at catalunya in the genesis (also bad on tires) I was able to do 9H/12M/12M. I also tried a 21H/12M run (testing only the first 21 laps). My overall times were slightly faster on the two-stop, but similar enough to be within any margin of error for consistency.

But, oh my, I ran out of front tire around lap 18 on the hards and those last laps were bleeding time and confidence. The meds lasted about 10-11 laps, but the last laps on bad med tires weren't nearly as bad as those hards. So likely a two-stopper for me. And start on hards to repair the inevitable aero damage I seem to always take on lap 1!
Why don't you just run the hards for 10/11 instead of 9? That way you don't have to struggle on empty mediums. That's what i'm doing, i'm in the AMG which is FR = bad and i'm also bad on tires.

yeah, I thought of that and I might do it - that's where some improvisation comes in. If I need to repair anything, I'll go in around 9, if not and I might stay out for another lap or two. I didn't find driving the wasted Meds to be nearly as horrendous as the hards. An 11/11/11 sounds nice and easy to remember!

Race day is coming up. Just want to wish everybody the best of luck in your race(s). May all your laps be fast and incident-free.
And you, my friend.

Looking forward to this one. It's one of those tracks, similar to Fuji, where most people seem to dislike it but I've managed to find a real appreciation for that gives me a slight advantage in the race as I'm able to find fun in simply being consistent lap to lap, resulting in some surprisingly strong finishes and even wins.

And I'll always be hyped up by that possibility

Enjoy yourselves!

Euro GT3 for Honda. I think I was the only one in my lobby who no-stopped. Qualified P9. Dropped to DFL by lap 3 as everyone forget how to drive clean. Back through the field as everyone pitted, didn’t make a single on-track pass. Finished P6, 53 points which is my 2nd best score of the season - should keep me all gold for the rewards.

My PS Plus expires next month and I don’t plan to renew, so this was probably my last GTWS race. Never did get a win sadly.

Good luck out there.

Man, should do the race now when apparently few ppl know the non-stop strategy but i'm still sleepy lol.

It's an interesting question that I'm surprised hasn't been discussed much here. Which races do give you the best chance for a good result?

I've generally gone with the theory of being well prepared, race early before everyone else is up to speed, then bang in a good result and you're done for the day.

But today, and the previous Manufacturers, round I was just off the pace in the early races, despite plenty of practice. For Grand Valley a couple of weeks when I came back in the afternoon I found my pace was far more competitive. Maybe a little from me improving through the day, but more so I feel because the oppostion was slower.

My theory on that is by the end of the day it's only us dregs, who couldn't get a good result earlier, that are left. All the fast players are done by then. So here's hoping the late afternoon slots today will allow me better results than I've managed so far.

Never thought of that! And it makes a lot of sense actually. I always thought that towards the end of the day people would be more experienced and trained, calmer about the race, but probably you are right, many will be happy with their result already and won't risk it.

It’s not really strategic for me. 9am is the only time on a Saturday I can race.
Similar for me but I can usually make the 10am slot, too. Sometimes the 11am slot. But I agree that there could be something to @MetalApe 's hypothesis. Could also mean that the later lobbies are worth fewer points if the higher rated drivers are finishing earlier in the day. A P5 in the 9am race might be worth as much as P1 at the last race if everyone is gone.

I am sure there is an argument for practicing and getting some decent points earlier. However, I would place my bets on the idea that most will race during "regular" hours. This means more (highly rated) drivers, thus more points on the table and a better result for you if you do well.

I think my confident post from earlier invited some karma because it's really made me work for the eventual win.

Slot 1 - Messed up qualy taking too much gravel in the last turns and nabbing a penalty too, no way to put in a proper lap had to quit or start last

Slot 2 - Q5 and perhaps too eager to get in the race I misjudged my speed into turn 1, hit a car to pick up a 3 second penalty and when I'd served that I was 13th. Was sideswiped off still on the first lap on one of the final turns, on purpose or not I don't know but it left me last. Did finish the race and was set for a 5th as I didn't pit when I approached a ghosted car returning to the track on the final turn. I went to pass him, not go through him, and he just turned into me and shoved me off. 6th place and annoyed I wanted another go.

Slot 3 - Q8 but confident most cars would pit and I was right, thankfully event free race I took everyone in the pits and while had to watch the clock near the end as a medium runner knocked the seconds off it was never fast enough to get close to me - home for a comfortable win in the end and glad I didn't call it a day after the second slot.

Took way more time than I had planned to give it but a win is a lovely reward.

I base my choice on the time of day that I feel I'm at my best, which is as early in the day as I can find. I tend to get dozy in the afternoon so I try avoid doing any races then. I've only ever tried the first or second slot, so I don't really have any experience to tell whether this is the best approach, but it seems to be working out well for me.
Dropped to DFL by lap 3 as everyone forget how to drive clean.
This is my biggest concern with the no-pit strategy -- getting punted off the track by some inpatient driver on RMs. I figure if I can get through the couple laps without incident, it should be smooth sailing from there.

And the season closes with Honda in the A.O region, using a manufacturer I was really hesitant on ended up being a pretty solid choice for the races I did with it. This Barcelona race isn't really my fancy as I don't love the track and it's just a sprint race on RH tires to the end.

I might do another one of these in the Viper; again, not the most exciting of combos. We will see...

I haven't had a commanding lead like this for some time! 😍 122 Points in the bag! 🏆

The 911 RSR is a beauty to drive on Barcelona on Hard Tyres. Not needing to pit this week has caught out a lot of people today! 🏁 😅

GT2 B , did the race twice kinda boring race but it could have been much more

1st try - qualified P10 , Race started fine i went with no stop RH , many people choosed to have 1 stop which kinda surprised me , it went really good before one "good" guy punted me over ... and then i ended in P8

2nd try- qualified P9 , Race started better same strat , half of the grid chose again to pit from there i been in P4 but then i realized my tyres started to wear alot since i drive with dualsense that made me drop from P4 to P6 where i ended , this been a much better race but some still don't care about clean racing which is a shame

all in all could have done better , it been good with Lexus but next time i will take MR car again that suits me better :)

Was limited to first two Americas slots today due to double disc herniation plus life responsibilities.

Second race I added a seat heater to my playseat challenge (heating pad lmao) and that helped my pedal response time a lot. Qualified a little better in P8, finished P5 in what felt like a very fast lobby and received my most points for a race for this race in GT3 so I'm good with that I guess. Couple very clean pass series. No 1 min tire penalties on the grid.

HOWEVER, I did get absolutely shadow realmed into the red paint on the slow small V-hairpin. I had radar up, I check my mirrors, I know if there may be beef with anyone around me. Came out of nowhere lmao, scared the absolute hell out of me. Have to watch the replay to see what happened because I still don't even know what the -color- of the car was.

I had a problem though, I lost so much time for two reasons:

1) i have to hit the cones
2) oh no where's the second to last corner the cones are gone

Will post video maybe later tonight or tomorrow when I have time if anything is interesting.

Just did one in GT1 and will give out a report later but it seems that one stop on hards is the way to go in GT1 if possible. Had guys in lobby that started way back but climbed all the way to top 3 positions due to their one stop strat. Claimed it was the "top split meta strat".

This really is a poor combo. At least in GT2/3. It's sorta between strategies and suffers for it.
Managed 10th on the grid and put on my hards for the no stop. A couple of spins gave me a couple of places before the tyre disparity saw others either pull away from me or get past me. I constantly had to fight oversteer which a couple of times gave me a penalty at Campsa. Then at the hairpin afterwards at T10 the car constantly wanted to spin (Make up your mind!). Which it did one lap causing me to loose places as I went across the grass. Coming into the last lap I was towards the back end of the top 10 in 8th and would hopefully keep it despite my dead front left. Nope I outbroke myself into T10. All the frustration boiled over and I slammed my fist on the desk nearby. This set off my laptop charger which due to its chunky size has issues with the plug sitting in it. It started to make a sparking noise so I had to deal with it or risk a fire. As soon as I stood up it stopped only to start up again when I sat down. I really felt like a sitcom at that point. Once I had dealt with it I was in the barrier and had to get myself out. For some reason I wasn't last but the dirty dead tyre at the front meant the car right behind me got me out of the last corner as I fought the car for the billionth time. I crossed the line P14 and not last. Some poor soul in a Ferrari was lapped by everyone as they went on a spinning adventure themselves.
Not feeling it both mentally or with the combo I decided my paltry effort was 1 and done. I needed a top 5 to better my score anyway.
