I'm glad I didn't need a good result today. It really isn't worth my time to try again after one race.

GT2 - A/B Lobby
Door #10

The only preparation I had was watching the top FP lap and 15 mins before the race. Considered a stop-and-go pit, but ultimately decided against it.

Qualifying was fine, no traffic and I had time to place two flyers. Q8, exactly where I didn't want to start with the chaos of Turn 1.

Onto the race! Did I forget to mention Turn 1 chaos? No? Right. I get a better start than the car ahead and take a line deep inside Turn 1. I get bumped by the car behind, start to spin and while I'm recovering, they just drive straight through me and turn me completely around.

Down to last place. Meh, but at least I have clean air now. The rest of the race was pretty uneventful, I'd pick up a few places from others making mistakes and only really had one good overtake about midway through the race.

I pit at the end of Lap 9, which was apparently the same strategy as everyone else except one player who opted for the no stop strat, earning him a fat 1 minute penalty.

Not the worst race ever. I just wish I had finished higher to not take a hit to my DR, however finishing P9, I don't think it was too big a hit.

2pm slot in GT1, I went for the McLaren, as more comfortable with it than the Ferrari or Lambo.

Put together a good lap for me in qualifying, but was only enough for 10th on the grid. The opening lap or two it all went my way, bumps and mistakes ahead meant one by one I advanced up the field to 4th. It also meant I had a fair few fast cars behind me. I made the most of the clear air to just keep banging in decent laps. Approaching half way I had two cars close behind, they soon made it past, with 7th now right on my tail.

I was thinking to pit to get away from this battle, when 4th went in, so I stayed out as my tyres were holding out nicely, the other two I was racing with pitted the next couple of laps. So I stayed out enjoying the clear air, and temporary P1 on the leader board! Eventually pitted after 17 laps after a worrying slide on my old tyres.

I had hoped my clear air running might have got above 7th if they were holding each other up, but it was not to be, I came out P7. A couple of cars in sight ahead, but I couldn't close the gap. In fact it was the gap behind I had to worry about, I had one car close behind in the closing laps, then frustratingly he made a great move on the last lap into Descida do Lago to take the place. Not only that P9 is now right on my tail, a slightly imperfect last few corners gave him the chance and he out dragged me by a 100th or two to the line.

Frustrating end to the race, but I had a great time, pushing hard all the way for 25 laps. In the end I'm not to unhappy with 9th, I'm currently well into the A's at a level above where I expect to race, so just holding my own here is a sort of victory.

Missed the last two rounds so thought I may as well jump in to this one... GT1 A first slot EMEA

Did a few laps this morning in the trusty McLaren so knew I could do a high 1.31 without too much trouble, in the event a 1.32 flat was enough for P9 (and I was door 9). Was the top McLaren, first row was all Ferrari, plenty of Mercs in there.

Bogged down off the line and dropped to 10th but kept it clean on the opening laps and got into the groove.

Did a fair bit of overtaking in this race, a couple into turn 4 and some more in the tight rights at 8 and 10. I know people love to chuck it down the inside over the inside kerbs at 8 and 10 so I made an effort to cover these off, but others were leaving the door wide open...

IMG_8358.JPG

Made steady progress and pitted at the end of 12. Was now in a group for 5-6-7th with a Porsche and RCZ. The Porsche got away and I had the pace to follow but hit the RCZ at turn 4. My fault, he went wide and I lifted to let him back ahead. But my front was damaged and my pace was down a tenth or two a lap.

IMG_8359.JPG

Didn't expect to get close again but on the final lap the Porsche started to struggle and fought with the RCZ. They swapped positions a couple of times and the RCZ left me an inviting gap to make the pass at turn 8 and finish a respectable 6th.

Fun stuff. Watching the replay my tyres were in excellent condition while others seemed to struggle so the Macca still a good choice, may well be my Manu pick again.

Does anyone know how soon after today’s races the table is finalised and the payout for nations cup is available?

Just asking because I’m about 5m short for the Ferrari in legends dealership and it’s the only car I need for the platinum trophy 😂 so I would love to get it before it goes out of the dealership again and would also prefer not having to grind Spa 3 times instead again! Thanks
Already received my meagre rewards from finishing in the basement of GT2.

Makes it very tempting to go smurfing in GT3 for the credits.

first slot GT1.

I join the Audi brigade. It's been on my short-list for manu for a while, but didn't pick last time because I thought it was a bit squirrely over the mountain at bathurst. (checks manu schedule.....bathurst 28 laps on RH(!). yikes.) But it has pace at interlagos.

Back to the race. Nope. Damage at turn one ,then sandwiched at turn 4. Front/rear aero and suspension that takes 5 seconds to repair. Went in early on lap9 which I knew from custom races would put me on sketchy tires at the end. The tires on the audi hold up pretty well, until they don't, and lap times take a dive. I was door 13, qualied Q13, finished P12.

That pretty much sums up this nations series for me, it has really been a dumpster fire. I am, however tempted to try this one again. I think if I can get away damage free and run clean, I could hang mid field. We'll see what my mood is in a couple hours.

Wasn't going to go again, but I decided to give the last early slot a go before giving up for the day, since my last result was a DNF. Had little hope of improving since lobby 1 I'd have needed P1-3 to improve or P1-2 to improve in lobby 2.

GT2 B/S lobby, Door 14, Qualified 12th so could go either way. This last lobby I would have got the same points for 8th as I'd have got in P3 or P2 in the first two lobbies so it was much higher points.

Survive first couple laps and end up spinning in section 2 in a really weird way where the car was floating unreasonably, would not stop, and would not stop turning right no matter what. I had to do an actual full circle loop right turn to get back on track... Whatever, decide I'm done for the day and just going to finish this race so my DR/SR doesn't tank completely. I'm in clean air so I decide to extend the first stint to 10 laps to give me a chance in the second stint with less fuel and fresher tires at the end.

Come out of the pits in P12 on lap 11. Couple on track passes and a couple rage-quits put me in P8, which would be a point improvement but I smelled blood on P7 and wanted to put that tire advantage to use. Chased down the last guy and made my move on T1 on lap 18 and defended cleanly the whole lap and held on. P7 finish with a points increase over my P1 finish from Wednesday.

Lobby was doing kumbaya after the race about how clean the driving was. Rhetorical question: Why is it easier to beat supposedly faster cars than it is to beat supposedly slower dirtier cars? Its almost like racing has rules in real life for safety AND competitive reasons.

Full VR Replay (maybe just watch 18:55 to end unless you're a masochist):

I had a dumpster fire today as well. Picked rcz because it was so easy to just run clean laps.

Q14 and I try and be patient in the first few turns but I wasn’t expecting a car to be coming from the opposite direction in t4. Ungohosted and hit me sending me straight into the wall for heavy damage. He got none 😐.

Pitted on lap 1 to fixed it and was planning to see if I could get back in the race by staying out maybe no stop. On lap 14 the AMg that was tangled up in the same mess lap 1 was on me so I lifted and moved over just before t5 and touched the green which sent me sideways right in front of him so killed both of us again in what was going to be a gesture of letting him race through.

Had to pit again to fix damage and grab tires because it was going so badly.
Ended 12 only becuz of quitters.

misery loves comapny, but your dumpster fire sounds worse! Oh BTW - this morning, I looked at the free practice ranking and we were in a dead tie (31.9something) I hope that you had to work for that, cause I did.

Might just skip today's race, as I feel comfortable enough with my standings that I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get 3.15m credits tomorrow morning at any rate. It is, after all, only a season of the Exhibition Series.

Just quit my second race ever (I got the 50 race achievement at 51 races). Same idiot in the rental Ferrari intentionally punting me three times on three laps. Even if I tried to avoid him he swerved to rear end me into turns. I didn't even do anything besides be ahead of him because he keeps getting penalties. Unreal.

Him and this other moron were battling it out swerving into each other, so obviously I get past them when they go into the wall. Of course I deserve to be rear ended into a turn at 100mph for that.

e: after watching the replay, it has to be a troll account someone fires up just to mess up other people's races when they're done for the week
So frustrating to read, I mean most people here are passionate about those races, it is a game yes, but we take it seriously enough to prepare for that race, coordinate some free time with our family only to be ruin by random troll.

There should be an option to report bad behaviour like this. The game could correlate those report with how clean the driver actually was. Trolls should matched with other trolls.

Quick report. Will post pics tomorrow. Q’d 4th. Some good battles, fairly intense race. After 2 euro slots and 1 N/A Slot of manhandling my car around Interlagos, I can honestly say I’m as tired as if I did a quick 50 mile dirtbike race.

Without fighting, I’m in the 1:31’s. Faster race pace then my qually pace. I’m not a good 1-lap-hero kinda guy 😂

@JDMKING13 was good seeing you again. I need to remember A.Miller because it wasn’t until later that I realized it was you ! Congrats on your finish.

@icycls
lol. YES I had to work for that FP time 😅

I’m gonna plead insanity because I went back for more and expected a different result.
But it worked. After qualifying even worse than the first race I was a bit concerned in Q15.

I actually got to race this time and had a great race. Battling with p5 from p6 position for most of the race as things settled. We raced hard and swapped places a few times but kept it going well enough to not get caught.
Ended p6 and upped my lowest score by 8 points. So glad I didn’t leave it where it ended with the first race.

Yea I did a second race… The room was filled with high quality drivers, pretty much all A+ drivers except 3 of us. I took 8th (188 points) and it was hard fought omg lol!

@Dep Fishtail I’m glad you did another race great finish enjoy that money!

GT1 lobby, Q11 with .632 behind pole, very close.

Started with a penality on a faux départ, ( I had practiced too much with custom race )
End up Death last, but become first row witness of mayhem ahead. I am back P10 end of first lap.
Gain 2 more position, P8 at the fifth lap, with one 0.5s inconsequential shortcut penalty.
Then I get another 0.5s penality for going slightly off track again.
This time I loose on position, P9.

I will follow this Peugeot (same car I am driving) without finding the momentum to overtake.
Bumber to bumber for the rest of the race. It was fun, I must admit!
I decided to pit one lap later then him, hoping I would come ahead after I pit, as I exit the pit, he is right there again in front me.
I follow this guy till the end and I finished P7, after 2 overtakes we do together.

Actually had fun, 20 something lap behind the same guy, I was out of idea what to try to overtake.

Here is 25 sec clip of an attempt on the 23rd lap, to make him react and potentially do a mistake.
is that blocking?

Season Overview

World Series - Nations Cup - 2023/24 Exhibition Series | Season 3

This was the second Nations I ever took somewhat seriously, with combos I knew I'd enjoy and now a Canadian account that allows me not to be in top split in slot 1. Overall, I finished 15th in North America and honestly was the best I could hope for.

The win at Sardegna is definitely the highlight of the season for me. It was my sixth win in Championship races and one that makes me super proud as it was achieved with a unique strategy. Round 1 at Suzuka was also good fun. I tried to do Round 4 (Interlagos Gr3) but a power flicker ended my race before I even set qualifying lap.

This Spider-Punk account is basically my main now. It doesn't make any difference in Manufacturers and it allows me to have a good time in Nations. So that's what I'm using for Manufacturer starting this week. I'll be back with my beloved McLaren too, after a few seasons forcing myself to use other brands (Mazda and Porsche)

Ended up not doing last night race. Fell asleep watching a movie with the kids. I was too tired. I really wanted to do it because I really like the combination. Not really excited for manu cup tbh.

Anyway, got 2 wins in the two races I participated and next time I'll be on gt2 league (not manu since I made the mistake of joining while I was DR C).

gtws-nc-final-points.png

Points-wise, this season came out really well for me. A lot of that can be attributed to a DR that was inflated by the extra-long Daily Race at Suzuka a few weeks ago. My DR right now is around 90% of the B scale, instead its usual 50-60%. In Nations, that got me into lobbies with much higher point values than I'm used to.

Still, I'm pretty happy with my performance this season. Three top-5 finishes and one podium.

Looking back, I have mixed feelings about the season. I enjoyed Suzuka, but I always enjoy Suzuka. I like Road Atlanta, too. The Cappuccino, not so much. I struggled at Sardenga since I didn't own -- and couldn't buy -- a CLK. I felt like I was blocked from having my best race there. Yesterday's race at Interlagos was blast! I usually don't enjoy racing there, but I got lucky and had a really fun time.

Bring on the Manufacturers Cup!

Made a decent showing in GT2 for this Nations season.

First and last round were kind of a let down for me. But I really enjoyed the race at Road Atlanta with the Cappuccino and my win at Sardegna. Best result so far and hopefully I can carry some of this success over to the Manu series.

Across GT Sport and GT7 I’ve barely ever driven the group 3 4C. So this season I’ve decided to give it a run and sign with Alfa.

I ran about 10 laps of FP at GV and my goodness, what a brilliant little car this is. I don’t know how it will stack up across the season, but if first impressions are anything to go by, it will be putting a huge smile on my face.

Quick race report from yesterday, Went for the EMEA 10am UST slot, Qualified sixth, but bogged down on the start lost a few places, got bumped and bashed and basically had had a nightmare. Finished 13th.
Decided to jump on the last race of the day, 6pm UST. What a fun race! Qualifying was terrible. Couldn’t find any space, started ninth. Bogging down on the start again, I was 16th going into the first bend, managed to claw my way up to 12th, the time we approached the final bend. Unfortunately, some idiot idiot in a Ferrari managed to bump me, not once but twice, first squarely in the rear, then again in the side, pushing me deep onto the grass and back into 16th. From there it was great fun, back up 12th by lap five, I then got into a scrap with a Peugeot and a Ferrari, which went on for most of the race, but the racing was clean and tight with places being swapped both on the track and through pitstops, making it exciting all the way to the end, where I eventually finished ninth.
It’s that kind of clean close racing that really makes this game so enjoyable. I just wish it happened more often in sport races.
Good luck to everyone in the upcoming manufacturers cup!

Hadn’t done a single race on this game since June last year and decided come out of retirement to have a one off crack at Interlagos as I usually do well here.

Absolutely blew qualifying picking up a track limit pen on my flying lap so had to settle for 12th. Was probably on for a 5th so was disappointed.

Race started and I’d made up 2 places off the grid but ended up having some idiot in a Ferrari spin me 360 at T1 putting me DFL. At this stage I’d wondered why I’d bothered coming back to the game!

View attachment 1335552

By the end of lap 1 I’d somehow managed to get back into 12th capitalising on the cars in front getting backed up in traffic and from there I was lapping faster than most the cars around me and was into 8th by lap 5 or 6. Planned to pit lap 12 but that went out the window on lap 10 when 3 cars in front started fighting, a McLaren span after being hit by that same Ferrari driver, the Ferrari went way off the circuit, as I went to take advantage and go through into 6th he came flying back onto the track side swiping me and giving me 4 seconds of damage and even more annoyingly a 1 second penalty for colliding with him!!! :ouch: So into the pits and back out in 8th. Picked up one more position later on to finish 7th. Happy with that considering the start! 202 points I think.

The thing I feel like weeping with happiness about though is finally after so long becoming an A+ driver. Earned purely from GTWS races as I never do dailies. Honestly feels like the perfect moment where I quit while ahead and head off back into the retirement sunset

:gtpflag:
Was wondering recently where you were!? Good to see you back and hope in good health! Hope to see you in the coming Manu series too and congrats on reaching A+
