Just got done with Oceania Slot 2, GT2. It was raining but the track was only a little wet, not enough to change tires. I started P8, was minding my own business until someone suddenly unghosted infront of me in the section before the long straight. Got 2 secs for that, dropped to P10. Then some bloke with a Rick and Morty livery and 420 in his nickname decided to side press me off a few times whenever I had a run. Made a mistake on the final lap trying to catch the guy, so ended up remaing in P10 at the end.

Really good luck to everyone in their races today. Not sure how a 3 lap race around the ring is gonna work for racing outside of the first few corners (10+ second gaps between all finishers?) but good luck nevertheless.

Can someone please send me a screenshot/my rankings from the UK and Hampshire (or let me know how to view online) following today's conclusion? I'm off on holiday shortly but actually annoyed I can't give this a bash, seems like a free hit of a race that could result in a first or sixteenth quite easily haha.

You should see your rankings (while logged on) on this page:

Great choice with the weather, PD. Rain only starting halfway round the flying lap in qualifying. Only 8 cars set a lap time in my slot.

In the race first lap was dry, rain came about 3 mins into lap 2 and got persistent enough to need wets on lap 3. Finished DFL, 11th because a load quit on that last lap.

Just started slot 2 - radar completely clear. Seems like this one is pot luck.

ADD - Attempt 2 was completely dry. Started 16th in the RCZ, didn’t qualify. Mostly clean, some minor offs and one penalty. Was in a battle with 4 others for 10th. Came home 13th.

The race details on the website say that tire wear is 0x for qualifying in the GT2 and GT3 leagues. Is that not what you saw? I've been banking on that if they throw the wall-of-rain at us for qualifying.

Hmm some interesting results I see… just seen a live stream now and it looks like tyres are the key factor in this race.
The stream I found they did 1 race not pitting and the track was way too wet. The 2nd race they pitted on lap 1 but the inters were so worn before the rain came they pitted again for a fresh set of wets.

Not sure if the Citroen is bad on fuel but it looked like that had to do some fuel saving too for 3 laps? Sure my Ferrari was showing like 6 laps of fuel?

Race #1, Door #7, Q6

Complete chaos. It started raining halfway through the quali lap. 2 players were on inters rest on hards.
I thought the rain stayed and started on inters.. of course it didn't rain in the first lap :banghead:.. So I lost 3 or 4 positions in the first lap. Started raining on the 2nd lap and got some positions back. Gotta be honest here I wasn't the cleanest in this race. I had the better tires and closed on 2 cars in front and they blocked really hard. Gave one a small bump but the driver only blocked harder. Got the positions in the end because they made mistakes and finished P4.

Race #2 , Door #13, Q3

Completly dry. No rain in quali or race. Didn't stop once. Roadrunner was faster then the others but pitted after lap 2 so he lost some places. Good for me 😅
Had a great battle with Worfy over 2 laps It was really close until the small carrussel in the last lap. Overall a great race. Would like to go again but got some decent points and don't wanna risk em 😁

In the second race with the AMG I really had to save fule on the last lap. Crossed the line after lap 2 with .7laps left.
That punt on the Tiergarten after you served your penalty was needless, I would probably let you go on the straight as you were faster.
I had a spike in speed from 269 to 282 km/h and it only unsettled my braking for Hohenrain making me go through the high curbs.
I hope it was just a slipstream miscalculation or something.

I'm sorry dude. I didn't save the replay so can't really tell. It was probably a total misjudge by me depending the slipstream or a bad attempt at a bump draft. Either way really sorry 😔

Cool, I'm not holding any grudge.
It probably didn't change the outcome of my race, I didn't loose more positions and was able to return to racing line fairly quickly.
It was just unnecessary.

I have the clip if you want to look at it...

I just did a quick test in a full-field custom race to see if it would make sense for me to start on IMs and avoid any pits in the event that the wall-of-rain pattern shows up in my race. It looks like it probably wouldn't. All but the rear right tire were completely worn halfway through the first lap of dry driving (in the VW Beetle). Logged a time of 8:50 for that first lap -- versus the ~8:20 I'd usually see if I started on RHs.

At this point, if I do see the wall-of-rain pattern, I'm thinking I'll do the first lap on RHs and pit for IMs for the rest of the race. For qualifying with rain, I'll start on IMs and hope that tire wear is disabled, like PD said it would be.

Qualifying could be interesting. If you get out quick, you'll get more time on the dry track before the rain comes. If you start late, you'll get the advantage of the cars ahead drying the track for you once the rain starts accumulating on the track.

This is exactly what I was thinking, too. After reading the reports so far and my own experience from free practice, the slow moving rain takes a little over one lap to arrive.

With a 0x multiplier for tire wear on qualifying, Intermediate tires are the only reliable way to get a good flying lap (unless entirely dry).

I'm still about 4 hours out from my race and I'll only be able to make 1 attempt today. I'm really hoping for some level of rain and a lack of preparedness from my competitors.

Finally end on a good race.
The radar was showing rain with 2 arms coming in to hug the circuit. Each lap during qualy I checked the radar on the Dottinger to see if it would close and give me a clue for tyres. It would be hards for all 3 laps so long as it matched qualy.
Put the 911 P3 with an 8:15. I could shave some more off but each corner seemed to have it's own grip matrix which changed every lap so I wasn't 100% confident I could push into every corner.

Lap 1 is o.k. and I leave the Mercedes arena still 3rd. However a Supra dives me into the endurance hairpin. (On replay they dived the McLaren behind in the arena too) I wasn't too happy as they held me wide which allowed the McLaren through too and I then had a grandstand seat for their battle, which meant I could go back through again coming out of Warsteiner. Coming out of Adenauer Forst the Supra who was in P1 (not the same one from before) runs wide and spins out. However I then run wide going through long right before Wehrseifen where the grip just wasn't there. The McLaren is back through and without grip through the next corners the Merc behind goes through also. What follows is a good battle for the next couple of laps with not much to separate us.

However on lap 2 the Merc runs wide out of Flugplaz which allows me through and into P5. Myself and the McLaren are catching the Supra from before. The Merc now falls behind. On lap 3 it is my turn to run wide out of Flugplaz and around I go. I say run wide. This was it...

Thankfully I face the right way after impressing the judges with my spin technique.

The Supra who was in P1 went past but I lost no other places. Ah well lets see what I can do. Thankfully that Supra falls off again at Metzgesfeld and I am too far from the rest so concentrate on keeping her on the track for a P4 finish.
At least I finish on a high for the campaign and with some good racing mixed in too.

I was half-asleep after getting up early to watch the F1 qualifying, so may have been mixing up the quali and race.

Be sure it’s going to be wet if you are planning to use the inters. The rain moves very slowly so it’s hard to judge if you can complete a lap before it hits.

Definitely! I saw one GT2 livestream earlier where there was only a small light-blue blob moving onto the track on lap 2. It didn't leave any rain on the course, but the streamer pitted for IMs anyways and came out to a dry track. They quit the race before finishing the first sector of the GP track.

Did you get spun or ran off the track by some dirty orc? LOL, good luck buddy, no penalty for that cheating sack of crap.
Did you brush the wall after taking Hohe Acht too quickly? YOU DIRTY CHEAT, HAVE A PENALTY.

Watched one race that was fully dry, and one race that was too wet for slicks on lap 2. This is going to be chaos.
I just finished doing a simple test where I entered the Free Practice, checked the weather radar, exited, and re-entered. I did that 10 times. Five times it looked like there would be some rain on lap 2. The other half looked like it would be dry -- either no rain at all, or the rain wasn't going to hit the track. If the races follow the same patterns, it looks like the odds of running into rain are about 50/50.

Why do PD insist on putting weather in on nurburgring every time?!?
I know it's probably an unpopular opinion but theres no fun in limping round a 9 min circuit at half pace. Its much more thrilling to be able to hit the circuit at 100% being right on the limit the whole time!!

Nothing wrong with preferring to drive in the dry. The wet can deliver closer racing, in my experience. If you get in a group of players who are aware of their surroundings and know the track reasonably well and racing respectfully, it can be a very thrilling experience. And I think that's what people tend to like from a race like that.
