Why do PD insist on putting weather in on nurburgring every time?!?
I know it's probably an unpopular opinion but theres no fun in limping round a 9 min circuit at half pace. Its much more thrilling to be able to hit the circuit at 100% being right on the limit the whole time!!
I prefer the opposite, but I don’t limp in the wet. I push because I know my advantage is going to come from being less timid with the wet track than others. This is more of a knife’s edge to drive on imo.

Making the wrong tire choice sucks for sure, so don’t do that.

To me, the dry drive is the boring predictable one.

Hmmm…..Kinda boring for me today

126 points available. DR B midday lobby.

Quali - had a good 4/5ths of a lap. The car ahead had been off track somewhere and then I don’t know if they were purposely blocking or been slow? Final corner I made an error. Braked a metre too late and it cost me 10 seconds. Instead of a 8.12ish it was 8.22 for P14

Race - took it easy in first few corners and was able to pick off cars crashing. After that it was fairly uneventful. Running P10 for 90% of the race then, on the final lap I made an error and gifted P10 away and then I was a sitting duck against a Supra on the straight. Ended up P12 for 68 points. Here the kicker though… it was a permanent dry race! Which then made it kinda boring.

As for the Ferrari GT3. I’m glad I tried and got use to it. Only did the one race in the car as I missed the Mount Panorama round, but it’s not a bad car. Lacking speed I feel, plus I think I drove quite conservatively too in fear of losing the rear end. Will I pick Ferrari again? Maybe in another exhibition round, but I think for the official season I will pick Lexus. It’s been a manufacturer that i been wanting to pick for a while now.

That race was a load of saggy old man sack.

Qualy was the worst part, I think. The rain was soooooo slow that it didn't start until four minutes into the actual qualy lap. I thought I'd miss it, but noooooo. Only four people set a lap, with 2:55 covering them - weirdly I didn't, despite finishing with just enough time to spare, but I did also get a 2s penalty for hitting another car somehow while I was ghosted..?

Started ninth, finished fifth courtesy of 50% of the lobby quitting and a couple of the people who ended up behind me having massive accidents early on - possibly from starting on Inters after the wet qualy but the race started with the exact same conditions as qualy did - but I'd have to check.

Gained a bunch of places on lap two from quitters. I crawled the first bit out of the pits knowing the rain was at least three minutes off to keep my Inters alive. I was passed by at least three people who subsequently quit, I guess because they roasted theirs out of the pits...

Hate racing here, but got 125pt and a buuuuunch of DR from all the A quitters. Not enough to get back to A but close.

I hope I get these conditions on my qualifying and race.

Anybody else who gets it, the strat should be start qualifying on inters. Switch to slicks before the race starts and then pit for inters after Lap 1. If anybody isn't paying attention, you'll probably have a pretty successful race (in GT2 or GT3).

It appears that GT1 has tire wear set in qualifying. Yikes. I've entered a couple free practices with rain on the second lap, but no way I get there on inters. This could be a real headache.... We might have to slug our way through on hards.

There's also the 3 laps I get on a tank, if I have to pit on lap2, it means a two-stopper. There's a lot going on with this race!

At this point, if I do see the wall-of-rain pattern, I'm thinking I'll do the first lap on RHs and pit for IMs for the rest of the race. For qualifying with rain, I'll start on IMs and hope that tire wear is disabled, like PD said it would be.
I did an out lap in the dry on Inters, I was driving like an old granny to preserve my Inters, but they were still shown as 90% worn by the time the rain hit on the qualifying lap. I was one of only 4 to complete a qualifying lap, even once it was raining and I was on the timed lap I still took it real easy, all I wanted to do was a clean lap inters and I thought that would set me up well. It did, two others did significantly faster laps than me, to be expected the way I was taking it easy. One other struggled around slicks way off the pace, no one else completed a lap.

It's doable, but you need to sacrifice a lot of speed and do virtually no braking. The later you can leave the pits the better too.

I don't know about you but I found the Audi to be undrivable in the wet with hards, even with TC5.

Some extra thoughts.

On this track I never felt like I was racing, instead just trying to survive until the flag. No chance to have a proper battle, follow a driver and find their weaknesses over a few laps. Just wait for a mistake or barge through. Hate it as much as ever, hopefully PD will get over their fixation and spare us from a round here in the proper season.

Only did this one to try out the Gr3 Peugeot RCZ. Pretty much the most planted rear end I have experienced on any rear-wheel drive in the game. Almost impossible to spin or even kick out, so much so that I turned off the traction control (I always have it on TC1 for races). A bit too much understeer though, needed to wrestle the car through some of the bends, caused a few of my offs. Decent top-end speed but nothing special. I slipstreamed a Ferrari from over a second back but it took the entire straight. Glad I gave it a go but I think it’s not a contender for a full season drive.

At the moment I’m either going with Lamborghini for the first time, or returning to Chevrolet - I absolutely adore the Corvette.

Just done my final race for the day. Jumped on my USA account to try the lexus.

Crazy quali and race.
Weather was lingering around. Outlap is dry but quali lap was half dry and wet on the final stretch. I thought drys could do the two laps but just before back straight the track got too wet and the grip went.

Race started on dry tyres and then went inters. I nursed my inters on the 2 lap, but I took a bit too much life out of them and then it made the 3rd lap really hard. I had no grip on lap 3 and had to run fuel mix 4 to dull the power a bit and stop the tyres spinning. All in all a good race when you add rain in. Finished P5.

Advise. If you have to half a lap on inters your better pitting again for a 2nd time for fresh inters. I lost 40/50 seconds with the lack of grip and it cost me a position too

Also I had a strange yellow flag moment. Two cars were off the track but I got a penalty to say I overtook? Video below

What the actual **** is up with the race weather radar?

I correctly read it in quali and do Q1 race 1 and Q3 race 2.

First race the weather is exactly the same as quali so the rain hits at beginning of lap 1. I switch to IMs that are shredded by the end of lap 2 and useless for the actual rain on lap 3. Finish 9th.

Second race the weather is exactly the same as quali so the rain hits at beginning of lap 1. I stay on slicks because I'm CLEARLY going to get around the part of the track where the weather hits first before it gets too wet. I ragequit halfway through lap 2 because it was almost instantly IM condition on lap 2.

SAME RADAR SITUATIONS FOR BOTH RACES, WHY? I am so mad right now.

I found out the hard way that if you start the qualifying session on hards end the qualifying session on intermediates, it puts you back on hards AND DOESN'T TELL YOU THAT YOU'RE NOW ON HARDS. That ruined my 11 am race (offering 20 points for a win and requiring 5th to replace either of my 15-point races. I should have realized something was up when the "intermediates" weren't wearing at all on lap 1.

e: nevermind, mine did something different than what i said the tires do in my very next race (good thing i checked), always check your tires folks!

Similar experience to others. 2nd lap of quali it starts to rain after karrusell. Everyone included me is still on hards so its chaos. Manage to get P9.

First lap I'm down to dead last before the nord because the first corner idiots are out and I get destroyed and damage.

Lap 2 I guess the weather and put on inters. Half the field stays on hards. They either quit when the rain hits or I overtake them on the straight. Amazingly I get P6 and stay there.

Only 9 of us finished. Didnt expect my best result out the 3 races I did this season but will take it. Best points haul too.

Generally speaking cant say its been the best season. All seemed a bit samey.

11AM EDT GT2 slot in NA - Mostly DR A lobby, with the exception of one other driver and myself, who were both B - 161 points up for grabs - Door #15 - Driving a VW Beetle - I needed P5 or better to improve my season score.

Qualifying was a mess. I saw a wall-of-rain pattern on the radar when I joined and immediately switched to IM, expecting the usual heavy accumulation of water part way through the flying lap. It never came. There was only light rain, and the moisture gauge never went above the first tick. It also didn't help that I smashed into one of the concrete planters on the entrance to Nordschleife when I missed my braking point. Ended up getting Q10.

The race had a similar -- maybe the same -- rain pattern as qualifying. I knew I'd be good for 1 lap on RH, at least. I'd play it by ear after that.

Off we went. Here's the obligatory shot of me holding up traffic right after the start of the race.

gtws-mc-rd4-start.jpg

Lap 1 had the usual chaos of offs and wrecks. Thankfully I survived it all and came out of the lap in P5. Looking at the radar, there was only light blue heading for the track. Having just been burning in qualifying by switching to IMs too early, I decided to chance it and stay out on RHs.

It paid off. The rain, when it came halfway through the lap, was light again, like it was in qualifying. The moisture gauge got close to first tick in a few places, but never passed it.

Looking at the radar at the end of lap 2, it was just more of the same -- only the light-blue stuff. A couple cars ahead pitted, but I decided to press my luck and stay out. If that was all the rain we were going to get, I figured I could handle it on slicks. I started the lap in P4.

I managed to catch up to the P3 car on the straight out of Flugplatz and was right on their tail going into Aremberg. I saw that they were going to go wide, and I thought, A-ha!

gtws-mc-rd4-false-hopes.jpg

Followed by, Uh oh!

gtws-mc-rd4-hopes-dashed.jpg

Lost a position there.

As we got further into the lap, the moisture on the track rose above the first tick in the gauge, and I turned the TC up to 3 to compensate. Things got a little dicey. I gained and lost positions as all of us on slicks picked our way through. A few cars ended up in the wall, but not me.

I got through and I brought it home for a P4 finish, and 141 points.
gtws-mc-rd4-result.jpg

That is about as good as a result as I could hope for -- the highest points of the season for me -- and improves my season score by 11 points. I'm not about to throw it away by going again.

Looks like I'll be playing with the big kids in the GT1 league next season. Say good-bye to Gr.4, light damage, and conveniently scheduled races. To say I have mixed feelings about this is putting it lightly.

Did another slot, quali radar looked the same, stayed bone dry so I qualified like 15th on IMs. Whole race was dry and kept working my way up and getting shoved wide by impatient people and ending up totally backwards twice. Still worked my way back up to P8. Could see the pack that I probably would have been ahead of with a clean race on the final dottinger run so basically pushed me from a p3 or 4 to a P8.

Anytime someone has a speed differential on me i'll stick to a side and let them try to make the clean pass through. They run me wide. Anytime there isn't a differential, they just brake late and send me wide. Can't win.

No motivation to clip videos, not sure if i'll go again, not sure if i need a break entirely from this.

@SupaflyIRL Now you tell me, though the HUD was saying I had intermediates on.

Anyway, armed with that knowledge, I hit the noon CDT slot, with mostly C/C (and lower SR) drivers, and only two other D/S drivers, wearing door #16. There were 39 points up for the win, and I only needed to finish 15th to improve upon my scores so far. Unlike the aborted 11 am slot, where the rain came in the first third of the flying laps (for those who were attempting qualifying), the radar was clear in qualifying.

Also unlike the 11 am slot, I didn't need to see how bad the Corvette handles in the rain should it show up, so I practiced pit entry to try to guarantee myself the last starting position. Pole was set by a Porsche driver in 8:13.7, while I was joined in the back by 4 other drivers who didn't take a time, who all started behind me despite my lowest-possible door number.

There was only a hint of rain in the far southwest at the end of the preview radar loop before the race, and none in the radar during the race. I immediately dropped back to 16th so I would miss the early carnage, and predictably, there was carnage. I briefly took advantage, but since I didn't really have speed, I gave spots back as drivers got back on pace...if they got back on pace.

Thanks to 3 drop-outs and another 3 drivers (including the other 2 D drivers) who got very far off the pace, my survival method found me in 10th as I approached the end of lap 2. I noticed a pair of drivers had pitted for fuel, and one of them came out well behind me. Lap 3 was a nice, lonely lap, with it going by in 8:31, nowhere near the speed of the top 8.

I finished in 9th, 1:21 behind the winner, who finished in 24:47, and the last car to finish all 3 laps. Despite the poor finish, I managed to get back some of the DR lost by the aborted 11 am race, and I got 26 points, for a net +11. That might improve the 2,100,000 provisional Cr. I'm slated to receive tomorrow.

Just a reminder, MAKE SURE YOU OWN A SET OF INTERS/WETS for todays race.

This applies in triplicate if you're a youtuber who live streams your racing 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
I'm on the last slot of today's race and I'm in Qualy and found this out the hard way. What a bummer... Praying it doesn't rain in the race at all...

I got through and I brought it home

I've been in a similar position.

I got my 'main' account to A awhile back, and kept it dormant (apart from using it in Daily Race A's) with my objective to race in GT1.

I've not had the time (or the balls) to try it yet though. I've been using my 2nd account which is mid to high DR B (which is my natural peak level). I've been concerned with being too slow amongst A's and in danger of ruining other peoples races and embarrasing myself...

GT1 Slot 1 2pm
I've been watching a few early streams, it's not uncommon for very few drivers to complete a lap in the GT1 dry/wet sessions. Which is what I've got, rain is on the way, looks certain to hit the flying lap. I'm out on Inters, taking it easy, but the wear is growing fast, I take it easier & easier. I get to start the flying lap and it's still dry, so even though the clock is ticking I still have to take it easy as I'm down to 10% tyre left. Finally the rain arrives, the tyres are shot I still feel the need to keep it easy to nurse them to the flag. It works, I complete a clean lap, two others complete good fast laps on Inters, one other crawls in at the last minute, on a lap I presume was on slicks. No one else completes a lap, so 3rd it is.

The race wasn't soo good, I didn't have great pace in the dry, slipped back a fair few places before the end of the lap. With rain fast approaching the majority switched to Inters. It was still dry for a while, so back to old granny mode to keep Inters in shape as I expect to need to make them last the remaining 4 laps. Once the rain hits I've still not got great competive pace, with hindsight I was just being too cautious, I did bring it home safely, but only in 10th place. Good thing really, I've got all afternoon free and would have been disapointed to only run once on this legendary circuit.

GT1 Slot 2 4pm
No taking it easy this time, I'm going to drive like a Hellion, Hell Bent For Leather, I don't care if I bin it, I can still have One More Shot at Glory in the 6pm race.

Qualifying again the rain is moving in, don't want my Inters Burnin' Up before the flying lap, so old granny lap it is. Except this time the rain is moving slowly, too slowly, and too light. Damn it, a little wet at the end of the lap, but my Nostradamus skills deserted me, everyone else got it right running on slicks, leaving me 14th on the grid.

I was paying for the poor qualifying on the first lap, in 15th held up at the back of a pack fighting for 9th. Bit by bit I moved up the field, finished the lap 10th, rains coming, but slowly. So we all stick it out for another lap on slicks, the rain arrives during the lap, but it's light. I can see the incoming rain is going to stay light, so I stick it out for another lap on slicks. Some choose to pit, moving me upto 4th. This could be good if the strategy call was right.

A podium could be on, so time to go in All Guns Blazing, a challenging lap on slicks on a damp track. I pass one spinner, plus one overtake I'm up to 2nd. The rain bar is reaching 1/3rd by the end of lap 3. I need to put for fuel now anyway, so switch to Inters. I'm Heading Out To the Highway on fresh tyres in 4th place, the strategy worked to move me up, but not enough to beat all the Lap 3 pitters.

The track drying effect seems to be coming into play, the top 4 are all closing together, first and second are in my sights. Down Döttinger the slipstream effect cuts in as well, the top four are all closing closing. Approaching the kink we're in for some Heavy Duty action. A bit of bumping through the kink I'm nudged out wide, 3rd on the run down to the right hander 4th tries to push his nose up the inside as I'm moving across the racing line to the left. I spin around at high speed, briefly fearing I'm go to need to Call For The Priest. The other cars bouncing off the barrier with a 3s penalty and damage. I end up facing the right way, quickly back up to speed and still in 4th.

The final lap is relatively drama free, I'm not able to close the gap to the top 3, so 4th at the flag and a nice haul of points. I think the FIA need to take action against these dangerous crew members hanging on to the outside of the fence.

Nicely done! My main account is 1 race away from DR A. Hopefully I can gain that in the daily races somewhere before the season starts so I can to join the GT1 leagues. But as you mention…the poor times for when the races are on is a big downside for me. I like getting my races done nice early when I can.

Just got back from a trip to Amsterdam today and decided to jump into the final slot today without practice on my B account just because I enjoy doing Nurburgring endurance races offline in my spare time

Quali went good, qualified in P4, probably could have went faster but I normally race in Medium / Soft tires so wasn’t prepared for how slidey the rear end on the Ferrari was actually going to be. Happy enough though as I felt I control the slideyness and my quali lap of 8:11 was done with a lot of drifting rallycross style lol

Opening lap and I ended up back in p14 as people either just never raced this variation before and just launched it into turn 1, but I’ve never seen anything like it. There was absolutely no manners, cars were genuinely punching each other on the GP part of the circuit, I went from P4 to p14 to p9 by the time we got to the Nordschliefe. I was happy enough because here I knew I would be stronger than most others and it paid off, did all my overtaking from driving errors ahead and drivers behind couldn’t keep up with me.

Managed to finish 5th, lost a position but from 14th after getting battered sector 1 with no mistakes from myself except near the end I lost grip off throttle and threw the cars onto the grass but no damage taken. It was weird because that was just a one time thing for me, lift off the throttle to turn in and the rear end just spun me badly

Never have I raced such an uncivilised race before. For races such as this you should be required to complete a mandatory amount of laps in free practice. Nurburgring is too technical for some of these drivers who think they can just jump on and wing that track. GR3 cars are also too sensitive for some of these drivers too.

Im not surprised why PD often decides to make GT2+GT3 race in GR4 cars because some of the drivers today just had absolutely 0 control over there cars.

I say this as someone who usually drives GR3 races, even I’m not perfect with them but those who tend to favour GR4 races should do some practice in more sensitive cars before jumping into these races. As looking at the races, the biggest issues were missed braking points constantly and also alot of drivers didn’t seem to understand the bottom part of Nurburgring GP was gone for this variation as two cars ahead of me on lap 1 crashed into the barriers there at almost full speed lol

Edit: also a number of drivers didn’t even set quali times, the spread of the qualifying was massive, I can understand because it’s a longer track that there is some bigger discrepancy between times but P1 coming in 8:00 minutes and half the grid coming anywhere from 9 minutes to 11 minutes is such a big spread for the higher GT2 splits

This came up on me incredibly fast in practice. The last couple races have been on the 24h format so I can see how people who didn't practice would get caught out on that.

I'm one race away too. From DR C. As a current B. Lmao.

To be fair it would have caught me in qualifying too, as I was expecting the longer layout too!

Except the car in front of me turning in gave me enough time to react to it and didn’t hinder me that much.. was unsure of the braking so went for a safe 100m board which seemed about right for me so I stuck with that in race. The yellow flags up ahead we’re also a good indicator lol

Yep, had the same thing happen to me except I never saw any car in front of me off the track. Slow AND ghosted but not off so I chalked it up as poor penalty enforcement.

Just one race today. It was alright. I luckily had my preferred weather pattern for qualifying and the race. Could've used a touch more rain, though to keep the pack tighter.

GT2 - A Lobby with 164 points for the winner.
Door #6

Qualifying was decent. The Pre-Race radar showed a wall of rain incoming. From practice, I knew it would hit sometime on the flying lap. So out of the pits on Inters. I had one off at Adenauer Forst where the track began to be wet. Lost at least 5 seconds. Ended up Q6 with a 8:45.081. Held up in traffic in some places. I might have made it to Q3 if there were no mistakes.

The race showed a similar Pre-Race radar as qualifying. So swap back to the Hard tires. Get after it.

I made up a position or two getting onto the Nordschliefe but ran off the track at Hatzenbach and lost my progress. I'd sit P6 until pitting for Inters at the end of the first lap.

Exiting the pits, a Porsche would get by. They were on some terribly worn Inters that they started the race with. I'd get by them at Aremberg.

18e6ccd72d844-screenshotUrl.jpg

For most of the race, I was stuck behind a Mazda. The gap would widen and close over and over. I never had a chance to make a move and their errors were never severe enough to get around.

18e6ccda10f12-screenshotUrl.jpg

Late into Lap 3, a Porsche ahead would crash before Kallenhard for an easy position.

18e6ccdbda378-screenshotUrl.jpg

Kept it tidy through the rest of the race, but my tires were nearly dead at the end. A Ferrari that had made a second pit stop for new Inters after Lap 2 caught up to me at Döttinger Höhe and had a drag race that I'd ultimately lose as they had the slipstream advantage.

18e6ccddea45-screenshotUrl.jpg

I'd finish P5 which earned me 137 points. My lowest score so far this season. I'd have needed to place 3rd or better to improve my standings, but I'm already in a position to receive the top prize so I'm not upset about this result. Happy to have a good and clean race that required some strategy.

In the two races (GT2) I've done, the weather has been the exact same for quali as the race. Meaning if it starts raining midway through your flying lap during quali, you'll get the exact same conditions midway through lap 2 of the race. Once you finish your flying lap, pay attention to what the track does while waiting for quali to end. My quali session flying lap ended with the rain gauge right at the first bar with everyone pretty much using hards with no issue. But during those next 2ish minutes while waiting for the session to end, you could see/hear cars in the background spinning and crashing. So in the race I knew that it would be too wet for slicks on lap 3. I started 10th, pitted from 6th after lap 2 and was p2 by the end of the gran prix circuit due to others spinning who stayed on hards. Finished p2. All that to say, use quali to learn the weather rather than worrying too much about where you finish.
