Yes! Glad they're coming back.

One thing I noticed immediately, is GT1 is using Gr3 and GT2/3 is using Gr4 for rounds 2 and 4. I don't like that.

Also, still limited time slots for GT1 :-(
Don’t like it either. There’s very few Gr4s I like driving so an all Gr3 championship would’ve been much better. At least I get a final couple of series before my PS Plus expires in December.

Ugh, on further inspection it looks like the 2 Gr4 races might be fuel savers. Backwards DTS and at GVH, not a lot of fun. I don’t like the Ring either. Not sure I’ll do this series at all.

I wonder if we'll still get additional credit prizes based on our ranking, despite this being an exhibition series?
The Championships are showing in game now, and yes credit rewards are on offer again. 9 million is the highest you can get in GT1 which I think is a bit less but I can't really remember.

It is less. 99% sure 12mil was available in the past.

I am reading up on these as I can......... there's an SSRX race? Heavy damage may become an issue there.

Don't like that manu is Gr.3 only for GT1. Races are also extraordinarily long. I'd be happy to dunk myself into GT2 for this series, because there's no appeal to me there whatsoever. Just when I thought they'd already hit the bottom of the barrel in terms of variety, they manage to go even deeper.

I feel like PD forget that just because you're a faster driver, it doesn't mean you only want to drive one type of fast car for like an hour straight.

Oh my...

I remember like it was yesterday that the forum was up in arms because GT2/3 didn't get long races. Now people are complaining because the races are too long???

NOT TO MENTION.....

A lot of us have said that the biggest and easiest determent for dirty driving, is just to set damage to "Heavy". And now peopler are unsure about that now too??

10 laps at the Ring?? Bring it on! I can't wait!!

I mean these aren't mutually exclusive things?

There's a difference between GT1 getting 15 laps vs GT2 getting 7 laps, and GT1 getting 35 laps vs GT2 getting 15.
There's no reason for GT2 to not be 15 instead of 7 - but increasing a race from 15 to 35 laps for GT1 league is a huge increase.

I don't think GT1 should be that long, but I don't think GT2 and below should be punished with shorter races. Not an incredible concept to understand.

The wheels are already spinning on which Manus I am going to pick. I am going to have to do some practice laps on some of these tracks, but I am thinking for the 2 account leaning towards Dodge. I was thinking either Dodge or Genesis but I am not a huge fan of the Genesis Gr3 car.

I am tired of Toyota and Nissan, maybe McLaren for one of them and the other I am not sure. I've picked Ford before but it's also a solid choice, IMO.

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo World Series Exhibition Seasons Begin September 16

After a long break since the end of the official 2023 Gran Turismo World Series online seasons, Polyphony Digital has announced the start of the Exhibition Series that will tide players over until next year...
You may have made a mistake with "there’s no Gr.4 races at all in the Manufacturers Cup". The biggest point this time is this-
One thing I noticed immediately, is GT1 is using Gr3 and GT2/3 is using Gr4 for rounds 2 and 4. I don't like that.

Looks pretty decent for an exhibition season, I like longer races given the organised lobby events I tend to enter, so I'm fine with that. Would have liked GT1 to use a mix of Gr.3 and 4, as it would have given me a chance to more thoroughly test my Manufacturer(s) of choice for the next full season. Given I'm looking to try Ford or VW full time, if I don't revisit Mazda or long time favourites Honda.

With it just Gr.3, it would given me a chance to run the Beetle again, or the '18 Ford GT, so there's some testing needed me thinks 🤔. Pleasantly surprised too see partial tuning will be an option, I definitely like the idea they're testing that 👍.

But if you go back in the thread, you'll see many examples of the true-to-life GT2/3 guys commenting in hindsight, that they're glad they didn't have to gut through some of the longer races - that the distances for the GT2/3 class was just about perfect. Not to mention, you had many more slots available. Those guys by and large, are casuals. They want no part of hour long races. They want a good distance, and multiple slots.

These changes for GT1, I feel is something that we've been clamoring for. More strategy, more seat time, more consequence for bad decisions.

This is 100% PD deciding to step into the big leagues of E-sports Sim Racing. Good for them!!!

Kind of ironic to have GT2/3 using amateur “GT4” cars when GT racing are all about amatuer/gentlemen drivers in GT4 and GT3 machines.

Well, I've made an early decision to try and drive something new this manufacturers season. Surely there's no way this can go as badly as the car's reputation would imply...

I'm terrified thinking of the bloodbath that round 1 of Nations looks likely to turn into.

The balance of the cars available is unbelievably bad. The Ferrari F40 is so much faster than everything else, save for the Lambo Diablo. The braking distances for turn 1 and the hairpin are massive and vary wildly across the cars. It's around the 200m board in the F40 and even further back for the Diablo. If anyone does turn up in something else like the Supra, they can brake around the 150m board.

Add in heavy damage for GT1 and this could be very difficult to survive. And don't get me started on the wicked understeer the F40 has with the throttle down. I never thought the small kinks between the hairpin and start/finish line would actually need attention to take at speed in any car! :boggled:

Having a browse of the Manu choices. Have the choices always locked out the older alternate GT3 cars? Look like PD locked out the FT-1, older GT3 cars from BMW, No Gr.3 Mustang, no older GT-R, Gr.3 WRX, Gr.3 Golf. I like this.

Edit: Just switched from Toyota to AMG.

After skipping the past couple seasons, this is a schedule I can stomach. GT1 will be fun for the long races and heavy damage.

Although I usually choose outlier manufacturers, this time I will go Nissan since my league just started a Gr.3 season and I was assigned that car.

You can still use thenolderncars in race if you own them, you just can't pick them from the manu screen.

I am in GT2 or 3 again, but know that there's no way to compete bec6the top 100 at least are going to be artificially drop downs from GT2.
I am happy to not having heavy damage though.
I bet the ones that has been arguing for heavy damage to clean things up will learn it's a double edged sword

Oh well. Shouldn’t have thought PD would try something new with only using the new variants.

Did PD just.. forget to balance the cars for the first nations race?

The fastest car (the F40) is 1.5 seconds faster than the 2nd fastest car, the Diablo.
Behind that, the 3rd fastest car is the Ford Gt, 3.5 seconds behind the F40???

I actually don't know what to say, look at this!

What manufacturer would you choose for gt1 league and controller?
Last nations and manufacturer I was almost always last due to tirewear compared to wheel... Few rounds were on edge for wheel players so for me it was usually +1 pit stop = last place usually....

I reckon it's got to be some kind of attempt at 4D chess, for GT1 at least.

Step 1: Make the new season available.
Step 2: Turn on heavy damage.
Step 3: Don't balance the cars.
Step 4: Make it one of those rounds where the car settings are completely hidden so it's impossible for anyone to practice in race conditions.
Step 5: Wait 2 weeks.
Step 6: The race starts. Virtually everyone is in the F40. Lots of people are likely going to have some fun off the rolling start misjudging their braking points into turn 1 and then later at the hairpin, picking up lasting damage that they'll need to pit to remove.

The person who picked the completely off-meta car strolls through the carnage after starting at the back and being completely outgunned off the line, then laughs as everyone else pits... 🤔😆

Although considering the ridiculous disparity, chances are the F40s would still catch up and overtake by the end...

I have to say I'm not a fan of no Gr4 in GT1. Why make things even more different? Some Manu's have better Gr4 cars so those particular manu's will be in the cold this season. At least I'm in GT2 so will see some varied grids. Someone really needs to sit down with PD and make sure they're o.k. Just some really bizzare decisions lately.

They need find a way for GT3, for example, not to be ruined by folk who qualify at sign-up then doing all their actual races at DR B and above.

Makes both events a farce and pointless for genuine racers at the requisite level.

Alfa. Fantastic tire wear and really easy to get the power down.

Put the date in your diary lads. 8th September 2023 is the day GT7 decided to take definitive stand against dirty drivers, and those who treat racing like a glorified time trial. Imagine, people will actually have to slow down for T1 like they do in real life races, instead of going bowling. Ghosting has been set to strong, which should help clean drivers avoid being rammed by vindictive drivers. Well done P.D. For those who don't like the implementation of heavy damage, I've heard Forza is looking pretty good. Good luck!
