Only doing that once, that was a warzone. How I managed to make my way through that unscathed, I don't know.
Literally this. An all-timer combo for me and i'm only going once. Also, neat that there were three different McLaren liveries in your race (including the awesome Monaco one that I almost used). I went with the Piastri MCL38 to your Norris. I love the chrome number decals.

B/S lobby GT3 smurf split, Door 12, Q5, my banker lap ended up being my fastest because I ended up in the spinner traffic for flying laps 2 & 3. Another lobby with a bunch of familiar names. Was going 5RM 15RS regardless of starting position.

I end up in P3 after Lap 1 and hold off the guy who ended up finishing in P2 for my medium stint (he was also on mediums) and pit after lap 5.

First two laps cinematic:

That video just needs Crofty screaming at the top of his lungs the whole time.

Some of the midfield in this race wanted nothing to do with clean passing on the straights, just some straight up "police trying to flip someone's SUV on the highway" style stuff. I come out of the pits in P10 and fight my way back up to a podium battle train by lap 11, get tangled up in sector 2 lap 12 by a slight divebomb, then two other people use me to brake and I end up the only one pushed off track. I'm now in P7 in the P3 to P7 train. Pass the two people who booted me thanks to the penalty system actually working in my favor for a change.

Recover and catch back up battle with a fairly reckless driver for P4. Finish P3 because the race leader screwed up and went soft start/soft lap 17 and had to pit again for mediums before the end. Could have had P2 I think, were it not for the boot on lap 12, but taking that finish to the bank.

UK GT1 slot 3, was looking forward to this race...

Qualified 7th with a respectable 1.15, pole was a rapid .14 by door #1. The same driver then did a .14 in the race but binned it by themselves a couple of times and rage quit.

Plan was to start on softs, keep out of trouble in the early laps and avoid damage. I lost a few positions trying to steer clear of people, then got out of shape in the quick infield double-right, too much inside kerb ending up in a tankslapper catapulting me off.

IMG_8166.JPG

I didn't hit anything but the detour meant a one second penalty and I was 12th across the line. However the plan started to work as I overtook damaged cars, plus cars who pitted to repair, then chased and passed two medium runners putting me in a lofty third place...

IMG_8164.JPG

Pitted at the end of lap 16, now roles were reversed and the runners on softs were coming. I was 4th with an Alonso lookalike chasing me down. Thankfully he chewed his tyres and ran out of boost before dropping back.

IMG_8163.JPG

A lap before the finish a charging Greek on fresh softs came rocking up and I didn't put up a fight, content to pocket 5th, 199 points and a cold beer to celebrate

first slot GT1, I had door 5(? don't remember). Qualy was slightly below average, Q10. Started on RM. First lap, no damage! Second lap someone clips my front tire for suspension damage but it didn't seem to hurt my lap times too much.

Race settles in and I'm keeping pace, pick up one position from a spinner. I'm not good on tires so I go 15/15. Come out of pit in P9. My race pace seems to be pretty decent, I'm not going to threaten a podium here but I hope to pick up another position or two.

Start reeling in P7 while at the same time P10 is coming on strong behind me. Around lap 20 I'm on P7 and we go side by side in a few corners, allowing P10 to get right on us. It was a nice clean battle in the infield, of which I usually come out the back end of these but this time I make it stick for P7. Well, at least for a lap or two; P8, who was reeling me in finally gets by me. Now I'm P8 and it is just about managing the laps and holding position. Sadly, no one else spins out to hand me any freebies. I finish dead-average P8. (actually lost some minor dr points)

No crb but felt clean, no penalties or runoffs. It was fun, some decent driving in the lobby, but I doubt I will try it again.

Good luck!

First NA GT1 lobby. Pretty decent, 216 pts for 1st. Defender, Pfei and Tulipix were in there with me.

Threw down a heater on the last Q lap and managed to grab pole position. Watching Kie's stream I went with the RS off the start. Took the lead and held it for a couple of laps but apparently Pfei had me on this day as he chased down, kept up and passed on RM. Lost a couple spots at the pit stop and grabbed a few back. Tulipix came by as he was on RS on the 2nd 1/2 and I couldn't keep pace as he was on his way all the way up to the lead. After some shenanigans up front and a few guys getting damage Pfei re-took the lead and I made a couple spots back as a result of Tulipix's slowed down car. All in all pretty happy with a pole and 3rd considering I had a lucky number 13 on the car :D

GT1 A/S North America Lobby. I know I said I was going to skip this one but the SF cars are too awesome in VR and I always feel confident in them so I gave it a shot. I had the timeslots wrong so I ended up going into the first slot with only ten minutes of practice.

Qualified P4 with a 1:15.9 and started on the softs. Someone in front of me false-started so I was straight up to P3 and quickly got P2 as well. I started reeling in the leader as everyone behind me dropped back on the mediums. Made a clean pass for P1 a few laps into the race and worked on maintaining a gap of a couple seconds while not driving too aggressively.

The guy behind me pit on lap 14 and I followed on lap 15 putting on mediums and came out with an even bigger gap. But on lap 20 the soft runners appeared in my mirrors and two guys made quick work of me, leaving me in P3.

They had a tight battle for first for a couple of laps and I started gaining on them, then passed them both three-wide down the front stretch. They must have damaged each other while battling since I was able to drive away for the win, 3.5s ahead of a soft runner behind me.

216 points and a win. I'm happy I jumped into this one. Good, clean racing again.

Ahhh good.....I'm happy to hear you were actually on RS off the start like I was and you didn't catch and pass me using RM like I thought you did in my description up there :D

I guess I misread the tire icon next to your name as you went into the pits.

Good race man. Sorry, when I did my summary I didn't even realize that was you until you posted. I thought your handle looked familiar. I'm really bad with names LOL.

Just like Fuji, Interlagos is a track that I don't like driving, but I'm apparently rather good at. The main difference being, I hate it more and I'm less good at it compared to Fuji , plus it took me a lot longer to get good at it. I love high-downforce cars though, so I was expecting great things from the SF23 regardless of the track.

Slot 1: In spite of my win on Wednesday, my DR was still low enough to still be in 2nd split, much to my relief. In fact, i was an even LOWER number today than Wednesday (car #5 today vs. car #3 on Wednesday). @Spider-Racer once again joined me on the grid for a rare Nation's appearance. I qualified a decent 6th, but almost 0.9s off pole, and I needed 5th to even have a points score that counted. I bolted on Mediums anticipating possible carnage at T1, and not wanting to waste Softs on a damaged car.

P2 outbraked the polesitter into T1, but had to check up because he went too deep, causing the polesitter to rear end him and giving both of them damage. That promoted me to 5th almost immediately as the polesitter dropped back down Reta Oposta due to the front aero damage. The 2nd place starter soldiered on for another couple laps, and kept the lead since he was on Softs and the rest of us behind were on Mediums, but eventually he pitted on Lap 3 and promoted me up another place. In between that, I'd picked up another spot as the car directly in front of me braked on the grass and overshot T1. We banged wheels as he rejoined, but no damage was done.

I was up to P3 with the 2 in front on Mediums as well (as were most of those behind me). I did a bit of tire saving again by trying to avoid scrubbing them, and it paid off at the end of our stint as I caught the 2 leaders who'd been nose-to-tail for most of the stint. I took P2 at the end of Lap 14, which became the lead when the leader pitted. The former leader then accidentally put on Mediums again, and had a scruffy outlap culminated by running wide at the final turn, so he was no longer a factor. Me and the new P2 then pitted for Softs at halfway, and came out 2nd and 3rd, having been undercut by 4 laps by the car I'd touched wheels with earlier. I once again conserved my tires a bit, and used a bit of overtake out of the final corner to keep 3rd at bay. I knew the leader would lose pace eventually on those older tires, so I just bided my time while trying to not fall to P3. Sure enough, he lost pace and I took the lead on the front straight at the start of Lap 26 with the aid of quite a bit of the overtake button, but I couldn't pull away. Meanwhile 3rd dropped several seconds behind us. Even though I couldn't gap P2 after taking the lead (since he had a bit more overtake to use than me after I'd burned a lot of mine up going for the lead), I was able to use what little overtake I had left to keep him at bay and won by 0.7s to bag 313 points! This also marks the first time I've won 2 in a row in any championship, and the first time I've gotten 2 results of 300+ points in a row as well!

No worries....good work in the race, you earned it 👍

GT 2 B/S 117 pts lobby
1st Attempt
Got a good start, Q6 with 1.16.670, .290 behind Q1.
Survive T1.
After 3 lap I was P2, slowly decreasing gap with P1.
At Lap 14, I loss my wifi connection and I am supposed to be using cable lan... it somehow switched by itself at some point, I fix all that...

I have to restart all over... with a bit more practices this time...but some more frustration and I am getting tired.
VR F1 is intense.

2nd and final attempt (after some "me time" negotiation with my family)
Q8 with 1.17.002, .700 behind Q1.
I'm like oh no, I am going to screw it up, I'm too exhausted.
The race starts, a very tame T1, but take advantage of some opponents mistakes to end up 5th.
On the second lap, I am following a pack of 4th, gain a position, then P2 gets a shortcut penality.
End up closely following P1 for 3 laps.
I overtake on the straight using the boost, my turn to get chased and feal the heat. I am affraid to do a mistake,
He is pushing, on the 90deg. curves I conceide and leave him P1, I decide to follow and apply pressure for a while.

He stops at the pits on lap 12, My strategy is to pit at end of lap 15. I'm P1, no one pressuring me.
I keep going, end of lap 15 I pit, I get 3.0 penality on S curve before getting in pit.
Exit the pit P2, within reach of P1, he is right there .4 second ahead... but then I serve the penality... that's it, he is out of reach.
I finish P2 with +7 second behind.
Total time 26:28.234, 104pts. one of best race ever.

I am sweating like pig a, but man that was intense and fun!
Time for well deserved beer (and a shower according to my wife)!

Slot 1 NA GT1 wearing door 3 again unfortunately in 230 point lobby.

Qualified ok for me at 1:16.619 good for q13. Lap 1 I had a hero behind me and he missed t2 then comes back on just behind me and must have boosted the whole straight. Dives the car in front of me then I lock from what had been a good distance and gain front damage and the car a tapped got rear damage.
The car that caused this mess went into a full spin when exiting the turn and straight into the wall after helping us gain damage in the first half lap!

I was on RM and didn’t want to pit early so I hung on until after lap 13 because I was losing 2-2.5 seconds a lap. Got out on softs and made some ground but not enough pace to make up for the horrendous start.
Ended in p11 with a DR loss and a throw away 134 points 🙄.
One and done because I realized it could have been worse.

I'm going to be very upset if the new race is as disappointing as the end of the last nations cup. If its a custom BOP rental only road car race where there are 14 of one car, 2 of another and every car is the same color, i'll drive off the grand valley hairpin. If its on deep forest i'll set myself on fire on the way down.

unless its a one make '22 GT3RS race on deep forest, i could abide that. i'm not even sure what i want, because what i want would be more of round 1 and 3 on F1 calendar tracks and theres no way we get a third one of those anyway.

GT2 DR B SR S 66 point lobby

Qualified P4. door 8. Started on RM. Good start and survived the first corner up to P3. P4 end of first lap. Trying to push enough to get open air but not make any mistakes. Lap 6 I get bumped wide and go off track. No penalty but p5 now. Lap 7 I get a 0.5 penalty. I pit on lap 8 for RS in p5 and come out p12 but with some clean air. With pits exchange I end of p4 on lap 13 and p3 lap 14, right behind p2 on pit exit. I pass him on main straight for p2 going into lap 15. Just need to bring it home. I think about trying for fastest lap since I was only about 0.02 off but I start to get a little to much sliding, so I play it safe and bring it home in p2 for 63 points.

So my winning race time in my A/S lobby with 216 points would have had me 9th in @GTWolverine 's A+ lobby with 209 points.

Interesting correlation.
To be fair, I benefited greatly from the front row giving each other damage at the start. They both should've beaten me by more than 10s most likely. I just watched @Zorz's race and the winner went 10s quicker than me despite earning 48 fewer points, so my race pace was probably pretty slow for what you'd expect from the winner of a 300+ point race.

I did poorly in my first attempt at Interlagos despite practicing several days with maximum difficulty against AI. For some reason they weren't handing out even a tenth of the penalties in my practice sessions...and they were set to max.
I did better in my second round and would be OK with the result despite the fact P1 was blatantly cheating. I've no idea how I can be running consistent 1:20's in P14 when P15 blazes up from behind, cuts me off and goes across a gravel pit and into the wall, then wins by an entire lap. I got a four second penalty for that stunt and I suspect I wasn't the only one. Very rarely would I report a player in any online game...in this case I will consider it.
The constant penalties didn't stop, .5 here, 1.0 there, and the PSVR2 I should have had fixed a long time ago kept shutting off (my fault for not handling it).
That aside I landed in a thrilling three way battle for 11th place. Towards the end one player pulled up on the main straight, then tried hard to pass on the short straight following that left turn. I still had almost a full tank of nitrous and, as usual assists close to max. I hit the nitrous and watched with glee as he spun sideways having never caught up. 'Bye, Cap'n. I was chasing a red car not realizing the moron who cut me off had vanished and if I'd caught up to him we would have finished in 15th and 16th. I pressed hard towards that red car and realized it was someone else, so I passed them and went on. They pressed me hard for the final few laps, redeeming the enjoyment in this race.
My finishes are: Spa P1, Fuji P15, and Interlagos P11 plus learning the track and holding the CE.
I hate playing against cheaters but it was still a very good outcome overall. 🙂

That race was cursed! CURSED, I tell ya!

My poor performance in the first slot had been eating at me all day. I knew I could do better than the 69 points I'd scored in that race. If I had just remembered to switch to RMs for my 2RM-18RS strategy, I was sure I could have finished better with some laps in clean air.

Finding myself with some free time in the evening, I decided to give the 8PM EST slot (GT2, Americas) a try. I was in door #1, with 97 points up for grabs. I qualified Q3 (1:16.5s) and was feeling pretty good about my chances; that is, until I got to T1 and was pushed off. Rejoined mid-pack. Punted wide on T4. Rejoined towards the back. Punted into the wall on T10. DFL at the end of lap 1 with a large gap to the nearest car. On the bright side, I had lots of clean air. I did one more lap on the RMs, then pitted for RSs and I got to work on making up the gap. The race was mostly uneventful from there. I managed to work my way up to P9 in the end, for 68 points.

68 points? That's even worse than the 69 I had in my first race. So into the final 9PM EST I go.

I'm in door #2 this time, with 97 points up for grabs. I qualify Q4 (1:16.4s). This time I manage to escape T1 without incident, and even pick up a couple positions, coming out of it P2.
gtws-nc-rd3-t1.jpg

I maintain P1 into lap 2, but give up a few positions to some faster cars on RS before pitting, still in P5.

I come out to clean air, and focus on putting in fast laps. I'm picking up positions as I pass cars in the pits. I'm feeling pretty good about the race. Everything is going great. I end up catching up to one car ahead and am close on his bumper for about a lap before he lets me by. Then it is back to grinding out laps.

In the final laps, I manage to catch up to a car in a Ferrari livery for a battle for P4. We have some nice side-by-side battles in laps 18 and 19, but I'm not able to get by him. My opportunity finally comes on T1 of the final lap. He leaves the door open on the inside, and I take it, getting a nice run out of the S.

And that's when the penalty message pops up. Huh? It seems I had passed under a yellow flag without even realizing it. 3 seconds to wait out at the finish line. Gah!

When I get to T4, the Ferrari car goes rocketing off the track on the inside, barely missing me. It turns out, he'd been punted by the car behind, who was awarded a 2-second penalty.

I pushed as hard as I could on the final lap to try to minimize the number of positions I'd lose due to my penalty. I got there in P4, and moved to the right of the track to let others by. The car behind me stayed on the racing line serve out their 2-second penalty. This left us neck-and-neck accelerating to the finish, with about a car-width of space between us.

We weren't nearly up to speed. One car zipped by cleanly to our left. The car behind him was on the left side of the track, too, but the pit exit line was coming up on him and the other penalty-taker was too close to the edge of the track to get by without incurring a track-limit penalty, so at the last possible moment the driver swerved to get into the space between us two penalty-takers. He crashed into me, then bounced off into the other penalty-taker, sending us both into the track walls, while they cruised on to P6.

gtws-nc-rd3-finish.jpg

I got myself back on the track and hobbled across the line in P9. I ended up finishing in P8 because the Ferrari-livery car had forgotten to pit.

gtws-nc-rd3-position.jpg

And for my efforts, I walked away with -- wait for it -- 69 points.

69 points! That race was cursed, I tell ya!

So it looks like the last race which is being held on the 27th still isn't displaying what car or track is going to be used as of yet.

I wonder if that means this incoming update is going to add something new that is going to be used in that race? 2 new VGT cars and something that looks like a washing machine.

NA GT1 Slot 1 - Lower A/S split with another ~160 pts on offer.

I didn't have high hopes going in, as I'm usually really bad with consistency with high downforce vehicles. Qualifying went average starting in P9, I elected to just start on softs anyways and keep the nose clean. First stint settled in with no damage surprisingly, ended up working my way up to the lead by lap 15! Lost a lot of time in that lap though with a big spin on the curb coming out of turn 10, but thankfully no damage was incurred.

Came out in P7 for medium stint, kept plugging away at consistency and had gained back a couple positions, but had another solo spin exiting the turn 6 uphill. Fell to 8th after miraculously not getting damage again, battled bat to finish in P7 for 123 pts.

My race pace surprised me, 5th place could have definitely been in the cards with better consistency. I won't be racing next weekend due to plans, so onward to the next batch!

Yep. PD announced on Friday that they will release the details this Thursday (Jan 25) - see here.

There has been some speculation that this could mean the final race will be at a new track, or a race with one of the new cars, but I'm betting on it being Priuses at Tokyo Expressway, myself.

Always good to see people keeping themselves up to date with the articles we write for them...y

I mean.....the 3rd could have been a Grand National GNX and everyone would have been happy (I think). I'm not exactly sure who amongst the GT7 community was pining for a square box on wheels.

This is totally baseless speculation by me, but I'm almost certain the Daytona Oval custom BOP race at the end of the last nations cup was a last minute panic thing and whatever new track will be in for this series was supposed to go in then and something happened and it got postponed until now.

There's no way that was supposed to be "TBD" then "ta-daaaaa, a second oval race in this series!" imo.

As we start lap 20, the original leader and I were P2 and P3 and I wasn't able to real him in on my worn softs, losing about .500" over the previous laps. I really didn't think the guy in P1 had pit but there is no way of knowing; at this point I think you guys know where this is going. The three of us get to the infield - with me still healthily behind - P1 and P2 start fighting, side-by-sides and minor contact. Coming out of the last turn I was right there and because they went side-by-side I was able to get a clean run, hit the last bit of boost, and overtake them both before the finish line for the win.

And, sure enough, the driver in the Ferrari livery never pit (ironic, eh? #Ferraristrat) and cost the player in the silver car the win as I wouldn't have caught him otherwise. He was, understandably, not happy in the chat afterwards.
Quoting myself because I took a video. Guy in silver was either P1, or provisional P1 for the whole race. But Ferrari livery never pit and started fighting him on the infield. And in a pseudo remake of 2008 Brazilian GP, ala Massa (silver car)/Hamilton (me)/Glock (red car) type of turn in emotions, things didn't end as they likely should have.

kind of grinds my gears that the currently #74 GT1 North America player is also the #7 GT2 and #1 GT3 player. That's just the most obvious one. At the very least all 5 of the current top 5 North America GT3 accounts are smurf accounts from their profile data. I've ended up in lobbies where half the lobby is filled with guys like that and it feels impossible. as with the penalty system, just complaining into the void because i don't have any ideas for solutions.

e: also hoping to be in bottom feeder GT2 lobbies instead of these sweat-fests for the next round anyway and do not expect to be good enough to rise to the top lobbies of GT2 anytime soon, so its really a moot point for me anyway

I stopped caring once they were in my lobby and I started getting really good points when they were there. At least the reward is a range of positions and not just 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Those in the know say there's no new track, so either they're punting again on an oval or using one of the new cars. Knowing my luck, it's the washing machine on an oval.
