SPOON CIVIC type R :) best FF car period..though all FF cars arent really very fast :( i loved my civic type R..thought it was the shytznitzzzzzzzzzzzzz :)
 
Just wondering your favorites on FF cars. I hate FF, but I have to finish the FF races and I need a good solid car to go on that will take me through the leagues. Any suggestions?

I think either the Civic or Prelude Type R - you can use them in the Type R championships as well as the FF.

I have a Prelude but have heard comment the Civic is actually the better car as it's lighter and more powerful.

Well, my admittedly rather angry Integra Type R won the Amateur Type R series very comfortably - I was up by well over 30 seconds at Cote d'Azur in the last race, and I wasn't pushing terribly hard (can't in that thing - turning and accelerating at the time is an issue in that car).

My Integra has had all the work done on it, ran on supersoft slicks (no tyre wear in the Type R series) and runs a stage 2 turbo.

I didn't think of the NSX until I fronted up for the first race, and I thought I was going to get my arse kicked - but ended up winning quite comfortably.

All I won was a stupid S2000 though - not even a trick one...:(
 
Prob'ly the Citroen Xsara Rally Car, but for the funky factor: salmon pink 280 hp Yaris RS!! :D :D :burnout: (that's what the front wheels do!)

hate to break it to ya, but there is NO Prelude int he game!!!!! ;)

wish there was though....

anyway, the best FF car is the Spoon Civic Type-R
 
I won the series with a New Celica TRD, (which I won somewhere) it got upto 425 hp. Maybe not the best car for this series, but solid racing will get you through it.

Civic Type R is a good choice. Tunable to 450bhp via turboing, and a great suspension set up means it handles like the proverbial railed vehicle!
And it comes in yellow, which any rice rocketeer will tell you adds a good 20bhp. And those VTEC stickers add 10 ponies a piece :lol:

I meant Integra. Do miss the ol' Prely - it was a bit of a Q car in GT1.

My comments were actually aimed at the fact that Nico was trying to get started in the FF championships, and being the cheap dog that I am I was trying to suggest a car that could do all four championships (being FF and the Type R at Beginner and Amateur).

I have actually stayed away from front drive so far in the game - they have made FF somewhat more realistic in GT3, so now you can discover why manufacturers generally avoid more than about 200hp in front drive cars - who can spell U N D E R S T E E R?

You're not missing much. Think of it being a vehicle that instead of being god awful slow like the integra, it's slow as hell and has an R on it.

Actually, the previous version of the Type R Integra is very well regarded here, but we got the Japanese spec so that might be different to yours. Certainly the new one isn't as quick.

Reminds of here some years ago when co-badging (when the same car can be bought from two different manufacturers in basically the same spec, just with different badges was at its absurdist height.

You might be familiar with the Australian Ford Falcon. There's always been a ute version (well, there was a gap in the early 90's) of the old Falcon, and around 1990 Ford shared the model with Nissan, who were a local manufacturer at the time.

The ute had the front end of a long running Falcon model so was pretty familiar to everyone.

The two changes were to swap the Ford badge to a Nissan badge on the front grille, and to remove the Ford badge off the tailgate and put Nissan on in dirty great black letters.

The sarcastic suggestion at the time in the motoring press was that you should buy the Nissan version as 'the badges were more aerodynamic'...

what the hell are u talkin about? let me ask u this....ever sat in an Integra Type R....

I SURE AS HELL HAVE....my cousin has one in lime green (like the one is F&F) with NOS in it....i don't understand how u can think that is slow!

Rice boy, I think it's slow because most cars that I regard as fast will beat the hell out of it in any distance. 0-60, quarter mile, half mile, mile, and top end. I have sat in some, numerous times. I also gotta say that NOS is not a big deal. First of all, the majority of people that use it are kids who don't know how to use it, don't know what it's actually for, and seriously damage their engine internals by misuse. People think NOS is a big boost in power to get the jump. I used to drag race quite a bit. I had a 300ZX TT. I've seen many many many hondas, acuras, what-have-you, and NONE beat the Fairlady at all. Some had NOS, most had engine work, but all were called 'fast' by the people that drove them. I've won a lot of money and two titles due to people's misconceptions. This goes to show you how much I repsect all that 4-bangin NOS garbage. When I won the first car, I had it completely stripped down, taken apart, and sold the parts. The second car I won, I wanted to make a greater impression. He signs the title in my name, I get a wooden bat out of the hatch of my car and I totally demolished it right in front of him. As I was urinating on the front right tire, I said, "god, i love these cars". That's all I have to say about that.
 
If you want to know why RWD (let's ignore AWD for the purposes of this thread) rules in a straight line- grab out your old GT2 manual on weight distribution.

When you accelerate, weight transfers to the rear. If those are your driving wheels, great! If your driving wheels are at the front, you've got a problem.

This is why RWD cars are better out of corners.

Text book example - who remembers the Volvo 850 wagon from the heady days of the 2 litre BTCC (before the wings and nonsense)?

Everyone thought that car was a promotional gimmick by TWR, but it wasn't. It was built on sound racing principles, namely 50/50 weight distribution. Most of the FWD 2 litre cars were front heavy, and the RWD 3 series BMW was 50/50.

This principle was great, except the engineers forgot about the effects of weight transfer. The moment the Volvo accelerated in 3rd gear in less (which would cover 75% of the corners in the BTCC!) the bum would go down, the front would go up, and all that lovely horsepower was wheelspun away....:burnout:

In the end, TOCA banned RWD and AWD for the BTCC - too much of an advantage...

Smack talk about Integras. :( I'm guessing none of you have had the distinct pleasure of driving one.

BTW 7.6 sec 0-60 (bone stock) is hardly gawdawful slow.

Now all of you cut that out. ;)
