GRID 2019

After this ordeal, I finally got an answer. A bad one, just as I expected.

Lmao of course Codies would use COVID-19 as an excuse. Just as predicted.

As you mentioned, they had the opportunity to get this done and dusted and not blow up in public in January. They didn't take it, and instead spent it blowing you off. Invariably the virus just gives them ample reason to have an 'official' reason to blow you off and hope this doesn't come back to them. That's not going to happen.

I really hope that this entire saga of GRID 2019, from the very beginning to now, plus Codemasters' conduct going all the way back to DiRT 4's launch, really puts into perspective how scummy a company they are, and probably will continue to be. For some reason, they have continued to get into the good graces of racing fans alike by making competent games that are well advertised, but it's been obvious for years now that they are by far the worst publishers and developers in the genre, and the contempt that they have for fans is as large as their desire for profit. And now with buying out Slightly Mad, it gives them a massive slice of the racing game pie, and another way they can mold their games into the gong shows that GRID 2019 and DiRT Rally 2.0 were.

EDIT: Also quite suspect to see the thread name changed...and my post calling out PJ being deleted. Hmmmmm.

I see right through them. They're rushing things and offering these games as an "apology" in order to keep me quiet, but nah, ain't gonna happen.

I decided to share with you guys the DMs I received from FA Racing and Codemasters.

Before we begin, here's the link for the contest announcement tweet, and here's the link for the winner's announcement tweet.

I received the first messages after getting the livery selected by them. Note that they apparently just needed some info in order to send me the prizes, and I gave it to them. It was a big fat lie. There was also a lot of things that weren't properly clarified, as you can see in the screenshots.

After trying to get an answer via DMs, I tried making a public tweet in order to get things sorted out, but to no avail. They said they were gonna check and give me an ETA, and now they're saying they can't give what they promised because of the virus outbreak. What a joke. They had a lot of time to sort things out, they just didn't wanted to.

Also, let's not forget that the livery is already in the game.

"Victor, I know you're frustrated about the physical prizes for the competition"

Well, of course I am. Much more than frustrated, actually, but I would break the rules of this site if I decided to say everything I'm thinking at the moment.

And quite rightly when it has nothing to do with him.

Absolutely it has to do with him. He is a public facing employee of Codemasters. He said that he would ping the contact for information - and invariably gave Rebellion the same run around as he has been getting all this time. Therefore, it is absolutely just to criticize PJ's role as a social media manager when all he did was lead us to the very same position that Rebellion is in now, except Codies is using COVID-19 as an excuse to continue stiffing an artist that put in time and effort, and is not being compensated for it. And now we are at the point where Rebellion is revealing private messages, and this is going to be a real headache for the company the longer it goes on. The fact they are trying to flog DLC while people point this out is especially galling.

@PJTierney is the social media manager for Dirt, not Grid.

I work for the council but if you complain to me about your bins, or your council house, or your rent, I can't help you but I'll point you in the direction the people who can. PJ said he would ask, and he obviously did as James from Codies got back to Rebellion. You are harassing PJ for something he has no control over.

I'm sure that they don't have the capability to ship things out now. The question is what the hell was going on for the ~1.5 months before this.

I agree with @Sage Ages. Sure, blast Codemasters for whatever the hell was going on a month ago, but expecting them to do anything about it now is foolish given the current state of the planet.

I'm expecting them to do something since January.

Yes, and I'm saying you better not expect anything to be done about it for at least another couple months.

I hope you get what's owed to you, but it wont be coming for a while. You picked a bad time to start demanding your compensation again.

I believe the point was that expecting your prizes to get sent out now is off the table. I think we can all agree that this has been horribly managed by CM, but there are bigger issues at stake right now than claiming your winnings.

You just fell into classic company trappings where instead of blaming people who actually have a knowhow of business process inside, you instead blaming the front facing sales/marketing/customer support guy who didnt really have a control other than what their manager or higher ups has to say.

I know very well since I worked and observed before and this is pretty much the running theme.

There's reason why "calling the manager" cliche exists.

Sorry for the poor timing and outburst on my end. Maybe it was too late, but the fact that nothing went on for a good while before all this is a bit worrying.

Either way I handled this awfully, I just wanted to help Rebellion get his prizes and I wasn't looking to cause any stir due to the virus or anything. I just assumed a digital compensation would be enough

I was under impression that the prize is going to be sent in precisely January. Turns out its just being informed and data collected in 14 January, while the actual delivery date is sometime in the future usually one month after that.

Most of merchandise are manufactured in China. China reported first doing lockdown (thus factories got closed down or operated at very limited rate) due to COVID-19 since 23 January 2020. Such thing is unprecedented for Logitech but its also their fault not to ready up the merch for sending. They also at fault for not properly communicating to you about the potential disruption for the delivery. Codemasters also at fault for not holding off the release of livery until the prizes is properly delivered.

You should keep communicating to them at least once a week until Codemasters can give the exact date of delivery. It is their fault to a degree but at the same time they are in the rock and the hard place with such conditions, both on the side of production and (non essential) deliveries.

I finally got the answer I wanted. They could've made things easier for all the involved if they had said this from the very beginning.
Better late than never, I guess...but I'm sure this wouldn't happen if I decided to just sit here and wait.

EDIT: I don't know how to thank you guys enough for the help. I really appreciate it. 👍

^ That has me a little worry about what there definition of hypercar stands for? :nervous:

What hypercar has a 4-cylinder engine?

Aren't hypercars about go big or go home? V8s, V10s,V12s, V16s

It could be a car from an additional/free car pack, like the Track Day GT pack from Season 2.

I'm really starting to hate the AI in this game

If there not doing the lapd pit maneuver on me they go out of there way to try and block my past each time even when i have a clear pass on the ai.

And don't even get me started on all the cheap hits they like to do for no reason.

Something I've just noticed - Whatever car is in the latest teaser, it is using the engine sample from the Porsche 917/30 (which has a Flat-12)

yeah but on the other hand. Do you see better fit to fxxk and p1gtr?
The Jerko is what i like to call a GT2 class car while the fxxk evo and p1 gtr are GT1 class cars so this is a little weird to me if season 3 does end up having this cars in the same class.
