Our prize is super lame, at least IMO. I could care less about going to the Indy 500 (especially to watch Indy cars go around in circles...boring :yuck:)

True, I discounted the main prize out of my earlier post for reasons I forget. I was tired.

All of you, don't forget Nissans' money is a big factor in the GT Academy in Europe, and has been since the start.

I don't think I'm going to be incredibly competitive. I'm just stoked that we get to drive a 370Z!

That's too bad, because the volume of Nissan cars sales in North America is just as large, if not larger than in Europe.

I think a weekend at a highly regarded US racing school would have been a much better prize.

👍 Yes! Great idea. I suppose we should be happy there is any US prize at all. As mentioned, there is ebay...

Its ironic (or is it moronic) that we here in the land of the "free" have all these laws that make things difficult for contest promoters.

Definitely 👍 Considering how expensive the Indy package is (roughly $4700), we could have gotten a hell of a experience at a racing school like Jim Russell, driving their karts, Evo X, and utterly sick FJR-50 open wheel formula car :indiff: http://www.jimrussellusa.com

Unfortunately turning around and selling the prize won't be a possibility 👎 Doh! :yuck: In the ruling it states: "Prize is not transferable, assignable, or redeemable for cash"

Oh yeah Portugal is in my babies:lol:! Im thinking the same Gaviao! Lets see where i stand in the National rankings:sly:! And still with pad haha:D! Bruno told me hes very very ready! No one cant stand against hes might in PT;)! Just me thinking... but hes already there:tup:!

You are also one for the finals, I am sure 👍
I imagine it's a live event, so who knows what could happen there? :):)

Whats the deal with rules regarding driving aids and physics this time trial?

The brand new GT5 physics will be used during this demo so we don't know if it will be Standard / Professional as it is now. If that is the case, the harder physics (Professional) will more likely be used.

You can use whatever driving aids you need, but having them all off will make you faster 👍

Thanks for clearing that up Jack. I'm still new to GT5p and have not been using any aids and also driving in professional mode since day one but I know on some other games that having the aids on makes it much easier to get a fast lap.

Seems like you're on the right track. On Pro and with driving aids off will be sure to make you a better driver in the end. In GT5:P 99% of the top times are made with all aids off (apart from ABS).

can anyone please explain why we have 17 countries on the list and there're 20 places to fill at silverstone? :odd:

Now about rules for the time trial... what do you guys think?
one can't be too strict about following standard GTPlanet race rules.
For example:

1) Use of clutch
On the first GT Academy, clutch was not forbidden was it?
Since the use of clutch gives better times, people that have a G25 or G27 had better use the clutch.
But there's something that worries me more than that. Maybe mods (real cheating) will work :grumpy:

2) Wheels on the road, touching walls and invisible walls
As long as the time is valid on the game time-trial, then it's valid for GTAcademy.
So, the best valid times may have touches on walls and more than 2 wheels off the track

Possible reasons:
some countries due to their size will have two drivers going through, or perhaps some finalists from last time will be invited back.

Maybe it's a mistake from the person tha wrote the playstation blog. Everywhere else they say "20 participants on the country's final", not "20 participants on Silverstone"

hum... UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia...... have +/- the same population...

invitions.. i dont think so.. if so.. they will win everyone because they already run on racing cars on the 1st time... and thats a big advantage for them..

btw nice to have you back Jerry 👍

they really say 20 guys at the silverstone final... and 20 guys at the national final... thats weird..

@ Above

they are protestants ... ;) lol nothing wrong with them It's clearly Work of SCEE Even Japanese people are not invited ... An Japanese is terrain of PD ...

USA and Canada each get their own contest

:)

... with a top prize of a trip to the Indianapolis 500.

:ouch:

no GT Academy.

Lol, WUT?

UK has 61,399,118 as of 2008 (France and Italy are about the same)

Spain has 45,568,152 as of 2008 - which is around 15 mil. less than UK

But Australia has 21,374,000 as of 2008. Thats about a 3rd of UK. Huge country, small population. I think its like 3sqkm per person :) - and its what leads some farmers to own property the size of Switzerland.
