The reason USA has been excluded is because Silverstone has more than 2 corners.

really!? i think silverstone is like all the other circuits and dont have more than 2 corners.. it has the left/right corners.. i only count 2!! so they could not be excluded for that reason :grumpy: :dopey:

its a shame they've been left out of this... some may argue that's a good thing, because they have a lot of talented guys (like japan and others...) and if they could jump in our task could be much more harder... but i think the other way around.. if we could have the most talented guys fighting with us, the fun/challenge could be even greater, more intensive and we could also "enhance our skills".. ;)

Some thoughts from my side:

1) What does it mean you are from a country?

I used my normal PS3 user in the country I officially live, but this small country is not in the list.
So yesterday I created a PS3 user in the country I have my ID card and where I still have an address, country is just an arbitrary choice for some of us.

2) I saw the video's and would love the experience in Silverstone, however:
* I'm no good at racing (still struggling with zone 3 in the GTP qualifier)
* I can not run, jump, etc.. due to back problems
* One of the participants last year got kicked out for bad eye sight, I'm a likely candidate for that.
* I'm working, I don't see the story I'll have to tell my boss this time as easy.

Still the kid in me can not resist.

4) For the countries again, if one small country has 1 very good driver, he will beat the masses of French, Spanish and German drivers.
However I see a marketing advantage in:
* National second rounds, giving press coverage, national heroes,
* Inclusion of more market in the last stages ....

So, no doubt for me: Sony/Nissan do this to sell more PS3s and cars, not to get to good drivers.
Man; are we not all "Sado Maso" lovers that are waiting to be abused, as long as it feels good to us.

Finally:
To all of you the best of luck on the time trial, that you may have your golden lap during the selections.

Ha! And who are you?

Thanks for keeping us in mind Bruno  I only think it's fair to include all of the fastest and best drivers in the competition, regardless of where they are from 👍 And I'm very glad to have seen your country included this time, because it would have been a shame to see a driver of your caliber dismissed once again.

And lastly, if they are going to ship competitors in from places like Australia over to Silverstone for the Academy, why not include the Japanese, Americans, and the rest of the world???

Someone would have to pay for it. Not just the shipping in, either. Whoever is primarily responsible for funding this (Nissan looks like the majority benefactor) will also be the one responsible for many of the included restrictions.

In short, Nissan North America isn't funding a GT Academy, therefore no GT Academy USA.

the main reason its because gt academy is a scee/nissan partnership... and as:

"Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, based in London, is responsible for the distribution, marketing and sales of PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2 hardware and software in over 99 territories across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Oceania."

...neither countries from America, Japan can take part. thats it! why they chose 17 from 99 territories!? thats money for sure as people already said 👍

i know what you feel right now... :ouch: but i think you guys will have your chance in a near future.. they will bring more events.. they want more money ;)

I'm sorry to spam, but if I make it to Silverstone I may have a little advantage ;)

thanks for posting... we'll tell kazunori about that... :banghead:

I just looked at the results of last year to see the difference between a high competitive and low competitive country. To got to step 2 last year you needed to be:

For France: In the 62 best
For Sweden: In the 198 best

Lucas ended 11th in step 1, second of his country in step 2.
This year he would stop there, since only the first would go on!

The best time seems to have been kicked out for false information (Thedoctor812, NL); after research it was Arnaud Lacombe (Fr) and he had won a free ticket (at the 24h of Le Mans) and did win the French step 2, came in 3rd at the end in Silverstone.
In French only: http://www.gt5rs.com/topic939.html (Gros plan sur le favori de l'épreuve 2010 )
Seems he states that track experience does help and made Lucas stand out last year.

And for Spain in the 43 best. It was the most competitive country in round 1.

BTW, the third in Silverstone was Chris Midmark, from Sweden, not Arnaud Lacombe, who finished between 4th and 6th.

Should this thread be moved to GT5 section?? But wait.. is it more prologue or the full GT5 :D ???

I agree it is not Prologue.
It is "Gran Turismo 5" demo.

It seems this is not true either, it is a GT Acadamy special simulation, developed on the basis of what is already available from "Gran Turismo 5", physics, tracks, cars, ... not not representative for Gran Turismo 5 in any other way.

you still not right either..because it will be avaiable for all to play and not only for the GTAcademy participants :D

Hehe its seems wiser:dopey:!

I don't have to buy another disc, the download is being run by GT5p, so I think it is in the right place.

On to more important things :D Do we know if the time for release is a G.M.T. or is it a Jp time and is it a same time for all participating countries?

I'm going to use my GTP tag.

Does it state anywhere in the rules that a driving license for a car is required?
I have a driving license, but not for a car.

Hope to see no more than 19 fast Belgians on the leaderboard, so that i have a chance to get spot #20 :)

did they let you buy GT5P without car license!? :D

In GT5:P 99% of the top times are made with all aids off (apart from ABS).

And we all know breaking doesn't win races. Or does it? ;)

Anyway, good luck to all who take part! The battle for the top spots will be very enjoyable even from the back seat 👍

Aren't there going to be any detailede official rules for GT Academy?
Can't find them anywhere. Only found PR annoucements.
