If you think you can make the finals. Make sure you're in good shape! I hope I can make it out of the first round. :dopey:

Yes, THIS. Even though I know it's going to be A LOT harder to make the finals again, I've already started. No more gallbladder problems for me this time around either, that damn thing is long gone. I'm confident I can make it pretty far, but coming down to the end this year is going to be really tough.

By the way, anyone seen Forced around? I figured he would be here by now and raring to go with his spec racing rooms.

I talked to Forced the other day, said he's gearing up but quite busy with work and still autocrossing about.

But he's definitely gonna run GTA 👍

Really tragic that he missed out last time so I hope he gets justice this year.

As for me, I'll contribute what I can in terms of HD videos and such, but I'll put in a fair amount of time, I just love the challenge, not too hung up on trying to make the finals or anything, but things always change once possibilities become real.

Will there be an Orlando this time around? I guess we'll know as we get closer to the date.

Anyway, I am hoping I can do better than last year ...where I made it through Round 1 and ultimately to Round 3.

I believe I've gotten better, in terms of my driving, I remember doing one of the Kart Space TT's with the Suzuki Gixxer and making it into the top 20.

So I hope I can make it through all rounds and have a shot at Silverstone. :D

Seems like getting in shape is the big thing if you make it.

Glad to here he's having a go, I have rarely seen him online.

Can't wait to give it a go again this year! Now that I have a G27 and am actually able to put some time into the trials I am hoping to make it to at least the final round.

Just fixed my ghosting brake pedal on my G25 so I should be good to go this time.

I just hate being on the east coast. Last year the top 8 times were separated by just .1 seconds. I think that was the closest grouping in the whole competition.

Super curious to see the fine print for this years competition. It'll be interesting to see if there are even divisions this time or just an overall national competition.

They've got to release the details soon.

Same here. Since its a free download, wouldn't it be hard to have cutoffs every week? I mean, that would be counter productive to the marketing they're doing. Being that someone doesn't even need a copy of GT5 to enter.

Really interested in how this is all going to work. As everyone else probably is too. Either way, its going to be fun.👍

So glad to see this opportunity popping up again. It's certainly changed my life! Don't think I'll have time to do much of it at all but I look forward to reading people's experience of the new format. Looks interesting to me!

Congrats on your podium finish in the Wright Motorsports Porsche GT3 cup car!! :tup:Good luck this coming weekend in Utah!

I picked it up, but I havent taken the time to actually put it in my ps3 yet. Life has me a lil busy at the moment. How is practice going for you? I read earlier posts speculating on how eliminations will be later in the series.

That's all nothing but speculation right now. We don't even know how they are going to run it. Since it's less than a week away, I find it weird that we don't even have any details.

True. Looking forward to trying it out. I noticed in the gt academy episodes, alot of you guys had your ps3 hooked up to your computers. Why is that? smaller screen, see more real estate in your FOV?

I wouldn't say hooked up to computers, but using a monitor maybe. I can't comment on that though, mine is hooked up to a 42" TV.

ah yes, thats what I meant, computer monitors. Surprised there isnt more action on this thread lol, everyone must be practicing. I'll need to get my PSN up here, and get gettin

Prolly so, Im inclined not to practice at all considering we have no idea on tire/car setup. And just keep playing shift2

If I were you I would try to anyway to at least get used to the GT5 physics. Playing NFS isn't going to help any. ;)

Before i got into GT5 i was doing really really well in NFS as far as WRs are concerned, so i thought pfft, with due practice GT5 will be a piece of cake.  :nervous:

Yeah thats what I keep seeing on these forums, that shift2 is a lil harder than GT5. I'll still try out GT5 tho, hopefully tomorrow I can grab some time

You might find that it's the other way around. Especially with the tires we will be using. ;)

actually my point was the opposite, i'm sorry if the smiley faces didn't convey it properly. :D
GT5 is quiet a bit harder.
And physics being hard or not being hard are irrelevant in that assessment since what makes GT5 truly hard is the amount of people who play it competitively.

True that, after watching the GT academy on speed I was surprised to find such a huge community with weekly time trials and all. I would assume guys at the top of those trials are the guys who will be doing well in the GTacademy. Speaking of guys....was there a female who made it to the top 32 in last years academy?

I've been doing the TT's, it help's in knowing where you stand against other GT players ...I seem to be able to make the top 250, still trying to get into the top 10.

I'm feeling a bit anxious about the GT Academy, I really, really want to make it to Silverstone this time around ...I just hope I've gained enough skills to take me there.

We'll see. :dopey:
