GT Academy 2015 North Africa

Last Granturismo event in EGypt had a fixed seat which was too near to the paddles, they forced you to play using TC and other aids and not a single organiser knew anything about GT.
oh yeah i was there and i got 11th.

look the press confrence is happening as we speak i will bring you any and all updates i can get my hands on. i also heard that a couple of pro racing drivers (eg tarek khedr) may take part. terms and conditions said no 4 wheeled racing for more than a season. tarek has certainly done more that. let's hope this one is well organized

maybe he's meant this:

lol we wish it was that organized

Keep me posted, and Tarek isn't eligible.

i was talking to him the other day and he actually plans to compete. I plan to show the organizers the terms and conditions and then show them his accomplishments.

@sems4arsenal not yet man. also i know tarek was banned two years ago but i don't know if things will be different here. the fact that the local promoter can decide if a participant is eligible or not in regards of their experience leaves a bit of a loophole. we will need to wait and see

oh and btw @sems4arsenal what was your best time on round 1 of GT academy. i know malony's is early 1:09's and mine is late 1:09's so what about you? and do you know any other times from other egyptians?

Please restrict your posts to English as per the Acceptable Use Policy - and use the edit button to amend a post if you're still the most recent poster, rather than making an entirely new one for a new thought.

With regards to live events, I was asked about the UK ones recently and I'll paste the relevant bits of my reply here:
It entirely depends on who's setting it up. There were a few booths at GWFOS last year - some for GT Academy, some for their own competitions - and the settings varied. The GT Academy one was all assists turned up to eleventy, while I don't remember the Ford one being too bad (I think TCS was on because there wasn't any wheelspin and the car was a Focus ST). I don't remember much about the Vision 2020 one, but I don't think anything but ABS was on as the car felt much more natural to drive - that said, as a futuristic GT-R interpretation, it may well have been that the car simply didn't react to the aids.
I've also driven live event time trials at Le Mans (though obviously I wouldn't be eligible to go through from there) and as I recall the traction control was turned on along with ABS, but I don't remember what else. Since we're not allowed to amend the settings, I couldn't say if active steering or SRF was turned on.

In essence, the rigs are set up so that Joe Q. Public can play Gran Turismo, rather than for experienced players to lay down excellent lap times. If, as I suspect, this year's LM24 live event build is the LMP1 GT-R, I think the likelihood of having a 1200hp race car with only ABS turned on is somewhat slim.

according to your experience with live events , do you think it is easier to qualify via these events ?
Especially for someone like me who has never played with driving aids on

It entirely depends on the event. A big, well-publicised one like Goodwood or Le Mans - even with the ticketed entry - will attract a higher quality of player.

This year? still haven't played, I don't take the first rounds seriously I just to the last one.

The last event was indeed a live event for GT6 so it was set up like @Famine said, hopefully since this GTAcademy the rules would prohibit TC and SRF.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN THE PRESS CONFERENCE IS OVER AND I GOT INFO!!!

ok so in egypt there will be live events scattered in universities and malls across the country. no word on track and car combo although in the press conference they were playing the nissan gt-r gt3 on brand's hatch which may serve as some sort of clue. those qualifiers will start at around the beginning of may which is soon.

there are 20 places in total FOR ALL OF NORTH AFRICA for the regional final. that means that 5 guys from morocco and 5 guys from algeria will fly to egypt to compete with 10 egyptians for 3 spots to race camp. that said the there has to be one winner from each country so in reality the Moroccans and algerians won't actually be competing against us. there is word that the game will not involved in that final.

in the regional finals, contestants will go through physical challenges as well as dirving challenges using CVT tidas/jukes/sentras so no Z cars.

the policy on pro or amateur racing driver joining is strict meaning that the likes of tarek khedr will not be eligible.

our race camp is confirmed to be at silverstone.

Still have noo info here in Morocco so sorry to ask you this : are those info 100% correct, no doubt? Is there any PC report on the web or something?

Thank you very much

I'm an automotive journalist and the person who went to the press conference was my boss. I'm 100% that whatever facts i am telling you here are 100% correct. I'll even write an article about it soon

No I didn't, it's to nissan morocco to make an announcement to make people know about the event, registration process, terms and conditions, where, when… etc.
Until now nothing on the official website, twitter and other medias.
