GT Academy driving physics question

Are the driving physics changed enough where anyone has a chance of getting in the advancement spots with enough time put in or are the top drivers from past years still at an advantage?

The fast guys will always be fast. And it doesn't matter how new or different a physics engine is, if you've played racing games and sims for years you will have an advantage over novices.

You will always see guys like IMMORTALPILOT, yinato, Amo, Ti-tech, etc at the top of every timed event of any kind. Physics don't matter.

I would disagree that physics don't matter.. the last 2 years I've been in the top 100, but I stopped playing GT after last years GT Academy, and went strictly to iRacing, which feels WAY different. And now I can't get used to the GT physics, and my best time is 5 seconds slower then the fast guys. GT, to me, now feels like you're trying to race a boat through the water, compared to the feeling of iRacing. So in my case, I feel the physics are what is slowing me down. I can't get a feel for what the car is doing, because they're not the same as what I've been used to for a year or so straight now. Its a little discouraging to say the least.

Well, you realize that iRacing has no road cars right? (Solstice, Jetta, MustanG, and MX-5 are race prepped)

That would explain things a bit more. You can do it, don't make excuses for yourself. Not trying to be rude, I just want to encourage you. You're not gonna be on point right away, you gotta put your time in. After a few days, it'll click and you'll really start to be able to push.

Yes, me too. I put 2 laps in on the qualifier and got gold by half a second. I never do that and I like that I can now.

^^
Im the opposite..... i feel like im slower in GT6. Will have to test the 370Z around grand valley east to be sure though..

Yeah, I know. I was just saying, after being away from the feel of GT for so long, i'm noticing it's a lot harder to adjust than I remember it to be. Makes me want to pull my hair out! :ouch:

I am novice, but find that I preferred gt5 physics and find that the feel of gt6 is going to take me some time to get used to.

GT6 physics are different to GT5. You can now gently throttle out of a corner rather than wait a few tenths of a second.

I hardly ever play any racing games but love motorsport. I'm currently 70th in the UK after a few goes, but yeah you need a lot of sim-racing/GT experience to be at the top of the list

I'm sure the fast guys would tell us that adapting is key. Slow to smooth. Smooth is fast. When you've learned a corner, push. When you become smooth at that level, push. Etc.

My only problem with the physics is that full on sliding into slow speed corners to get angle out of the corner is still a faster technique than gently rotating the car mid corner. To me, the tires regain grip too quickly after initiating these slides.

The best improvement is you have to be smooth with your steering inputs. Seesawing unsettles the car like it should.

It's all about using the right line and to always be at the highest speed possible while staying on that line. Simple ;)

I do not think it is as necessary as GT5 though. T1, T2, T6 and T10 at Motegi basically required a full on drift.

For Silverstone it really is only two corners.

I also noticed that the tires have an optimal grip temperature and it takes far longer for them to cool down. If this trial was on Motegi I wonder if sliding the first couple corners would compromise grip in the next few, making sliding less advantageous.

Not liking the new suspension physics so far. seems to be two sets of rules one for DS3 and another for the wheel. I have played GT5 since release and am usually 2 seconds a lap faster with the wheel. I don't know if its the 370z or the physics but I am much quicker on controller in GT academy then with the wheel. it seems like even when accelerating lightly around corners the car spins out with the wheel where I can just easily corner with the controller. Also wish they had an option for Metric users I don't use Miles I use kilometres and its a simple option to add seriously.
