GT Academy Prize Car Seasonal

I have not seen it mentioned here, but I noticed a difference in track grip between the TT and race events. I used a completely stock car when I first tried the events. I did the TT first and the car was sliding and so twitchy in the corners. I was not able to beat the gold time. I then tried the race event using the same car. I finished 4th, but my time was below the TT gold time even though I had to deal with passing the AI cars. The car had so much more grip in the corners, it was like the tires were sports medium.
I have since tuned the car and won the events on all 3 of my accounts, but the grip in the race event always appears to be higher than the TT.

The time trial without any tuning is pretty hard in my opinion. I'm using a controller and the throttle is too sensitive for the analogue sticks so I was sliding all over the place. Best I could do was 7:54:348. I only use ABS1.

I did some really minor tweaking myself, but nothing as elaborate as lldantell and managed to get 7:45:554 on my first successful lap. (slid out a few times) What I also noticed is that shifting down to the gear the game suggest is a wise decision in this case (I usually disregard it and go with the one I feel is appropriate). The last and first corners were easier to take in 1st for instance than in 2nd. In fact the difference is so big I thought I had left some aid on. At least I got it though, I cant believe there are some who could do a lap that is 20 seconds faster, that's way out of my league.

Here are my settings if someone would care to try:

Downforce
12/25

Engine
Limit power to reach 513PP (97,3% for me)

Intake System
Sports Intake
Racing Air Filter

Drivetrain (everthing except LSD)
Cluth: Twin-Plate
Flywheel: Semi-Racing
Carbon Propeller Shaft

After a quick attempt at the race yesterday using all reversible upgrades + oil change I realized that getting gold was going to be hard. Today I tried dante's setup, but without the weight reduction, engine tuning, ballast and power limiter. I felt a lot more confident and was able to go A LOT faster, and though it was not a very good run I managed to slip into first going into the chicane at the end.

After that I removed all the BHP upgrades but used the same settings, and limited the power to 513PP to try the time trial. Again, not a fantastic lap as I am only an average driver, but my first lap was clocked at 7:40.009, just outside top 1000 at the moment.

Big thanks to dante, that setup really made it easy.

Welcome, thanks to the downforce, the car was very easy to drive around the nurburgring.i tuned my cars in the time trial.thats why it so easy to drive.

Well, after 3 days of playing around with the race part of this and winning several times, I got my time down to 7:28.678, no aids except ABS 1 as usual. Tune was stock except for the LSD which was 30/55/45. Oh, and used the tranny trick for the trans settings. Those numbers are:
1st 2.659
2nd 2.027
3rd 1.587
4th 1.332
5th 1.147
6th 1.020
FG 3.029
TS 112 Top speed at top should be 198mph. Reset. FG all the way right. TS all the way left. Set gear ratios then adjust FG again to 3.027. Have yet to do the TT, was just enjoying this so much that I wanted to see how low I could get my time. Gotta take a break for a bit as I'm pretty burned out right now, lol.

I can't get the gearing to match up with your tune, and you had to have done weight reduction to get to that weight. What gives?
I think the power need to be 429 hp or 344 hp and yeah I did use weight reduction to get down to that weight

Hello,

For the fully tuned car, i have found the gearbox combination that provides the good values :
- Final = 4,466
- Vmax = 220 km/k - 136 mph

Man I keep reading how hard these are. I had not tried them myself yet. You guys almost had me worried.

After giving it a quick go this morning, I can't understand what people are talking about. My first clean lap was gold(lap 3, 7:45.120). And there is a ton left on the table :sly:.

Those who are having problems my advice is. 1) Learn the track, time can be found everywhere. 2) Use the curbs. 3) Brake less(many corners @ the ring are higher speed than you might think)..

I hope that helps someone, good luck.👍👍

Nissan 370z tuned car(gt academy)

I love this car because it handles like a dream right now.no more snap oversteer now.this time you got controllable oversteer and a little bit of understeer.it could go around the fast corner full speed and it go around that corner like it not even there.fantastic car

Thank you.
Super Tune ! 👍
First run 2nd place, then gold.

TT completed
First run got it, 3rd run = 1064th 7:40.
Enough for me (and i'm not an expert of this track).
Very predictible tune, soft to drive.
Good job !

Or before you try this time trial, race at that track and drive around that track a lot.then the tt be way easier.it took me a few tries because I messed up some laps and my lap time was close to your time

Thank you.

This is the same thing I've been saying all along, not that hard at all. Congrats on the gold and nice time. I just made a quick run at gold and got it second time around. Not going to go for broke on this one. I seriously need a break from the game for a few days. Going to play Madden 13 for a bit. Go Vikings!!! Peace all.

Gave this a shot this afternoon. Was thinking the gold time was gonna be real hard to reach after reading the posts.

Took a few tries to get gold then lowered the accel lsd and added some ballast. ABS1 only aid. Everything else stock no added parts except for an exhaust to get rid of the vacuum cleaner sound! Hit a couple 7:45's took a break then down to a 7:41.345. My goal is under 7:40. Might be a stretch for my skill level at the Nord.

If you're having troubles, take breaks. I can't go that long without starting to try too hard and pushing my marks. I would never tell someone that fast lapping the Nordschleife was easy. It's an easy track to get discouraged with especially with guys saying it was no big deal to get gold. Good luck.

I expected this challenge to be rough, but wow!!!! I’ve been beating out my brain out since this seasonal came out. Any setup I can imagine I’ve tried. Thanks to anyone who's posting their settings to help. This really helps those of us who don’t tune. Engine updates, adding removable parts, adding weight and ballast adjusting. I jusr tried automatic transmission(I prefer manual to get the best experience) and finally hit 149. I might stay with it(at the moment) to at least get the last second and go back to manual.
Personal settings are everything! One works for another and doesn’t work for another.
I haven’t tried the race yet as I’m just trying to get gold on TT.
Hats off to everyone who can get it! I found this to be a learning experience.

The race was the toughest race in any gt academy event, the time trial is not the easiest but kinda easy.the r35 tuned car time trial was the hardest.

I didn't find the race as difficult as I thought it would be. Aside from three crashes before I realised I had ABS on 0, I tried once with all upgrades (except the weight and engine tune 3 ones), and then once with the lldantell tune and that was it. I caught the 1st place driver on the hill towards the end of the long straight. I'm about to see how the TT goes.

I've yet to manage a clean lap on the TT - I keep overcooking it - but I took the exact same setup (513pp) to the race and it was good for third place, with a 7:40.xxx. The car definitely acts different in the race than it does in the TT. It's grippier, for one thing.

I found the TT very easy passed that first lap by over a second but the race is totally a different beast.

I was determined to do it with the car that I passed the TT with but after 645 miles on my brand new 370Z I had to say it had beaten me and change the oil and up the PP to 527. I have never made so many silly mistakes at the end of the run knowing how close I was to winning that race. I'd be nearly 2 seconds up at one place then back down by the next split.

It was truly AWESOME. I hope they leave this up for a while as I really love this and the car is HEAVEN itself.

What with the Lambo and this one I think I know every inch of the Ring now.
Oh wait where did that bend come from :)

Thanks for the tune moudame! I will try this tune since I am struggling badly with this time trial. The Nurburgring isn't really my strongest track. Very nice lap with the DS3! :D:tup:

I was 7:51:xxx with total stock... with DS3....
then had many tries where I was ahead my ghost 1.5 sec after 1/3rd of the round....
but always had at least one fault that cost me gold...
and also was quied annoyed of the handling of that "buoy on ice"...

so I went for "Illdantell's setup" -> gold after some laps and much better handling...
Thanks for sharing!!!

First attempt at the TT was 2 seconds over, second attempt 1.1 over, and then my third was 7:46.621. I kept stuffing up my second lap attempt which would have been with warmed tires, so I had to restart on cold ones again. I don't know if this makes any difference in the game.

what time is everyone hitting that final straight away in the TT?

I can't be exactly sure, but I think it was 6:50 from memory. I'll check my new replay...

Edit: OK, so in my 7:46.621 lap, the car left the bend and entered the straight close to the 6:48.00 mark. By the time you exit the corner fully and have time to look at the clock, it will be 6:50.xx though.

I kind of figured that's what time I'd have to hit that in order to make it, but it kind of doesn't matter for me as I can't seem to make a clean lap my lone clean lap was like 8:03 then I was about 10 seconds ahead of my ghost and the car went all wonky on me and I smashed into the wall. I guess I'll try again later.

Wait 7:46.621 right.👍

It say 6:46.621 in the EDIT. That must be a (typo), otherwise I'm calling area 51 and reporting an escaped alien.:lol::lol::bowdown::bowdown:

For the record. I used a DS3 on my 7:45.120 lap.👍

Welcome,I have to agree, the handling in the stock car was terrible.now it's easy to drive and easier to take it to the limit now.

I have to say this was the most fun seasonal for quite a while

Must agree. I'm really having a hard time with it 👍
I used to master the ring with my DS3 and any tire compound... but with my G27 the song is totally different :scared: ... but still love the challenge :sly: and take it like a chance to learn.

Rockford
IIDantell your tunes great easy driving after your tune thanks
