For glory, for money, for thrill. Everyone races for something.

But over time, racing has become diluted. Sure, race cars are faster due to electronics and high-tech aerodynamic solutions, but they are not as exciting, not as spartan.

The GT Legends racing series seeks to fix this by injecting the excitement back into racing. Bringing together sports cars of all classes from the pre-80's golden era of motoring, be it the Shelby Cobra, the Ferrari 250GTO, the Lamborghini Miura, Ford GT40, or even the Renault R8 Gordini.

Regulations
  • Pre-1980. IE: Any car from '79 or earlier.
  • 400 Horsepower or less.
  • 700kg Minimum weight.
  • FF, RR, FR, or MR drivetrain layout. No 4WD.
  • No ABS, TCS, SRF, or Active Steering. (Driving line will be allowed to keep it amateur friendly, ASM will be allowed because some cars from this era are impossible to drive without it. Thanks PD.)
  • No "Hybrid" or hacked cars.
  • If a car cannot be painted to provide a visual difference to duplicates, only one team may use it. This will be first-come-first-serve.
  • All members of a team must use the the same car, and it must be the same(or an incredibly similar) color.
  • Driver numbers MUST be registered at the beginning of the season(On premium cars, seeing as standards cannot have them), no duplicates will be allowed. This is also first-come-first-serve.
Outlawed Cars
  • Chaparral 2J
  • Toyota 7
Driving Etiquette
  • All drivers will be expected to race fairly. Overly aggressive driving such as: bumping and rubbing, while not entirely banned, will be frowned upon.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. You must not only focus on your car, but also your fellow drivers and the track.
  • In the event that a crash damages your car to the point that it is rendered uncompetitive, please pull it off the track and secure the E-brake before pausing, if you plan to retire. Should you decide to return to the pits and continue racing, please remain to the side of the track to prevent collisions, and remember to pull aside and let other racers by.
  • By joining the GT Legends championship, you agree to race honestly and without deceit. Lying about incidents in an attempt to get your peers penalized, and cheating to secure positions will result in a penalty or suspension at the event organizer's leisure.

Is this actually sponsored by Automation though? Because it's not a good thing to fake a sponsorship. Good way to give the game publicity though :)

Strictly speaking it's not legally sponsored by anything. But I fail to see how the publicity would hurt the Dev's funding in the slightest. ;)

Examples?

Most notably the GT40, even off-throttle with a setup that *should* give ultra-understeer, with ASM and RS tires, STILL wants to spin out around just about any corner. It even tries to on low speed corners at 20 - 40mph sometimes! The Lancia Stratos is exactly the same, even with ASM, it just wants to sit there spinning in circles all day. I can only imagine it becomes literally impossible to drive them once you're on lower grip tires(RM, RH. Which will be used in addition to RS. There will probably be mandatory compound swaps) and even worse in the rain.

In short, if I didn't allow ASM, I get the feeling the series would be horribly biased in favor of gigantic muscle cars that understeer like bricks, and thus, don't spin out every time you look at a corner.

Wrong I am afraid.

Higher the tyre grip, the more extreme the reactions are. On RS any car has extreme snap back owing to higher grip tyres resulting a higher grip loss experienced suddenly. The Stratos is lairy, but controllable. The GT40, not sure what version but the road version is a dream, the Gulf version is powerful but it's about managing throttle and even then slight adjustments to tuning can easily rid it of these problems. And FYI, i'm no alien driver or anything, I drive these things on a DS3 with only ABS at 1 .....

Well the question is, do you want to join?

I'm not sure if you're talking about stock, because stock they're a piece of cake. But these will be modified, 400 horsepower and weight reduction on both, stiff racing suspension. The last time I drove a GT40(many updates ago) it was easy to drive, and that was with 700+ horsepower and turbocharging, I took it around the nurb rather quickly. But as of currently, it does not want to behave; with 400 horsepower it is incredibly difficult, I'm not sure what's going on with it, but even with an understeer-biased suspension tune + an understeer-biased LSD tune it did not want to behave properly; it randomly lost traction at half-throttle on some corners at Apricot hill, outright refused to behave around a majority of the corners at Zahara/Sierra. But I could control it just fine at Monza. What in my mind justifies the decision to allow ASM is a combination of the unruly handling and the fact that it's not going to hurt anyone, unlike TCS/ABS which removes any need to learn throttle or brake discipline, ASM will help keep people from randomly spinning sideways in the road with unpredictability and ruining the race for everyone.

No hostility intended, that's just my thoughts on the matter.

None taken. Physics did change in an update a while ago (around 1.07) so explains a bit. But probably with a bit more tuning such characteristics can be eradicated.

Updated the second post just a little, basically to just go ahead and set up the roster layout.

Hopefully some people will actually join in.

I'd like to join. My team would be RPO Racing, with me being #7 and my teammate being #8. However, I think it would be better for there to be a certain PP limit, or just spec the cars up yourself.

I'll put you in and reserve your numbers. What car will you be driving?

As for performance, there'll be a "Pre-Season" where it'll be determined if certain cars are punching way too hard.

Well I don't know, if you stick to these extremely open regulations I'll probably just pick the most OP car I can find. :mischievous:

We'll see about that. ;)

No rush to choose, really. The pre-season will be a race where points are not counted, just so everyone can get a feel for the competition. Remember though, after you enter the first actual race of the season, there's no going back. You're stuck with that car until the end of the season.
