hi everyone:

i posting because probably i cant put more time on this but here is my time:

1.18.650/Ferrari 2007
profesional R1/R1

sorry to dont post a picture and that one is because my digital camera dont filter well the white colors and all you see id a white bluried image, no numbers can be seen good anyway i post the replay here, and i discover the following:

glubags was rigth is all about finding the rigth race line, you see with stock modifications you can get the full lap in around 1.16 to 1.20, but adjusting the cambers and toe, making a well balance distribution of the downforce you will see an impruvement of the car"s performance, of course you need a lot of practice to dominate the race line and since is a street circuit the crashes are often and you need a lot of time to balance the car acording to your performance(your own handling capabilities, braking and cornering)i recon that is posible to make a lap in 1.10 to 1.15 , that is posible but with a lot of practice on the track and the rigth setings.

ps:i was strugling to get 1.15 so i started to use the downforce, damper and toe angle in diferents seetings, still by the time that i did that lap i didnt set up the cambers and i didnt adjust the toe and didnt blance the car downforce to get more peformance on the chicanes, still i will have more time to practice and set up my car well the next time. :D

I did it!!! I broke into the 12's!!! with a 1:12.860. Someone remind me when the deadline is so that I don't miss it again?

R1's are quite a challenge. There's a limited amount of grip compared to R3's. You have to use the limited amount you have to it's best, which means absolute precision, a little off, and you lose some tenths.

I'm SO close to 1'12s without TCS. I'm done for tonight... I hope I can get into the 1'12s tomorrow after work. I've been 4 tenths up on my current fastest time by the first split, and the first sector isn't even where I'm losing most of my time... it's swimming pool again. Looking forward to tomorrow evening. Fingers crossed.

Congrats PJ-FFL on your 1'12! Even with TCS on 3, that's one hell of a lap! 👍

Edit: oh, and I believe the deadline is tonight, 11 PM PST. I just got to work... I may have time to put in some more laps at lunch... otherwise I'll be struggling with it this evening.

Hey everyone,

In the beginning of October, I started a GTP Member Wide Time Attack Challenge. I didn’t think the thread would be as successful as it was. We currently have the most viewed and most posted thread in the GT PSP section of GTP and I have all the members to thank for this. So without further of do….

I present to you, GTP Member Super Time Attack Challenge Season 2 !!!
[...]
Challenge # 10 (02/16/2010 - 02/18/2010)
Ferrari F2007 (R1/R1)
Côte d'Azur / Forward

I apologize for that mistake Detroitbb, C9 is and will end officially today. C10 will start tomorrow, if you have already submitted your time and your not happy with it. Please use the rest of the day to finish up and get times submitted.

I am going to post on the 18th :sly: ! Today is the 17th right ?

Oh, you're right easyblast! Deadline is tomorrow. I was thrown off due to the Stratos challenge "ending" earlier than it should have.

Good... that'll give me more time to work on it so I won't feel so rushed tonight.

Here it is:

There's still a little room for improvement, but I can't bother, i'm satisfied.

Great job man! 👍 There's definitely room for improvement but it's slim! I've been up 4 tenths on my 1'13.015 at the last split, so a 1'12.6xx should be possible, but that's absolutely flying. I ended up clipping the inside barrier jutting out at Noghes and spun that lap. I could've cried. Now my hands are killing me and I've got to get a little work done, and I'm not going to have time to work on this challenge when I get home. I'd LOVE to break into the 1'12s, but it's not going to happen this time. I'm not completely satisfied, but I'm very happy with the fact that I'm at 1'13.015 without any assists, and came inches from the walls without hitting them throughout most of the lap here. This would've been a 1'12.9xx or so had I not absolutely lost all my momentum taking a bad line through swimming pool. Oh well. I absolutely love this car. Should've bought it a LONG time ago!

This will be my final submission. Click:

PJ-FFL, what are your split times for comparison? Here are mine:

T1: 0'19.446 (didn't realize how terrible this first sector is, I've done this at 19.0xx several times yesterday; kept trying to break 18 for a while but never could)

T2: 0'53.677 (which means my second sector took 44.231 seconds... probably the fastest second sector I've done yet... it's a shame I took swimming pool so poorly.)

I'll get a video up when I get home.

Thanks for such a great series, Niigaki! I'm looking forward to seeing you guys soon in the Season 3 practice rounds!

Edit: Oh and PJ! Don't forget your ghost data!

Er.... It'll be up to Niigaki, but I'm pretty sure you're going to have to run another lap if you want it to count... you hit the walls 4 times. Lightly coming out of Saint Devote, then very heavily coming out of Casino, then lightly entering Tabac and very heavily exiting it.

So about 10 minutes before I have to leave for work, I decide to fire it back up and give it one last shot, and on my second lap I pulled it out.

This was on track to be a 1'12.5 (hit the last split 3 tenths faster than PJ-FFL's 1'12.8), but my nerves got the best of me and I ran WAY too wide through Rascasse due to late braking.

Otherwise it's perfect. I'd have LOVED to nail that last hairpin... UGH. Oh well! I'm into the legitimate 1'12s without assists. I am thoroughly satisfied.

Click:

Splits:
T1: 0'19.090
T2: 0'53.457

Heading home. Will post the video when I get there.

Youtube:

Quality should improve soon. Lap shown from 3 different angles: TV cam, then chase/rear-view to show the walls, then the cockpit view from which the lap was driven. This is my first time putting effort into these time attack laps while using the cockpit view. I think I'm going to continue to do so... makes it a LOT of fun.

If those wall touches did anything, it was slowing me down. I would do another lap, but I don't have the time to right now.

Very fast car, first time drive it ! I'm only can run 30 laps on this challenge so my time is not very good.

I make 1'14.249

I was satisfied to participate this challenge with you. In the next!

Wow. Good stuff Glubags. You really carved up that track. 👍 The F2007 really agrees with you. Now, back to practice......... I mean work, yes work. :indiff:

Hey all. I see I have missed a lot. Work has been crazy busy and my psp hasn't seen anything other than the inside of it's case in over a week. I still don't have time to turn some laps, but I wanted to drop by and thank you all for a fun experience! I hope that things will settle down a little at work soon and I might be able to get back in on Season three. Thanks and a big thumbs up to Niigaki for putting TAC together and finding time to run it while doing his studies. 👍👍👍 Also thanks to Glubags for stepping up to take over and keep it going. See you all soon.

I am sorry PJ but wall tapping is wall tapping. It's against the rules and was a issue during the first Season and one of the tighter tracks. Please re-do your lap time to be re considered. Thanks.

Currently 6:25pm PST, this final challenge ends @ 11:00pm PST TONIGHT. No exceptions.

An early congrats to Glubags for becoming the Champion of Season 2. Great job to everyone who competed, you guys are getting better and better with each season. Please not that Glubags has already started the thread for Season 3. Thank you all for competing in this season of TAC!!!

Well, ok. Looks like i'll have to pull a quick, clean lap out of the bag within 4 hours. I'll do my best.

And this is me done. :)

Thanks for the challenge guys. See you all the next season.

Now THAT is more like it! You managed to make T2 two tenths quicker than I did, so even if I hadn't screwed up Rascasse so badly, you'd still have been at least 2 tenths quicker.

Your lines and gear choices seem odd to me (I think the difference is TCS, I can't do first gear unless I want a cloud of smoke), but they sure result in a quick lap. I think I try to drive the F1 car too much like the normal cars.

Also, I know F1 had traction control in 2007, so I'm not exactly being a "purist" here... but I hate the way it feels so I chose not to use it. You made it work brilliantly though. Again, great ****ing job on that lap. 👍

You reposted your old pic, by the way! Should get that changed so that lap counts. :)

Which TCS setting did you use? 3? I may give it a shot next week with my tuning setup and see if I can hit my intended 1'12.5 more easily, or maybe match your 1'12.4.

Thanks!! It was a really crazy lap, I was all over the place trying hard to stay away from the walls, and still go very fast. TCS is at 3. I'll change the pic in a second.

EDIT: Just changed it. See you all next season!!!

I just want to thank niigaki for all his hard work and effort in making this Time Attack series happen. If it wasn't for you, sir, I wouldn't have continued to play Gran Turismo as it lacks a career mode (no real 'game' to be had). You've made it fun... something that Polyphony Digital failed to do. Honestly, I can't begin to thank you enough.

I also want to thank all the past and present competitors to the TACs. You all have been great in helping me improve my times and techniques. I thoroughly appreciate everything you each have brought to the challenges. Here's hoping we get to see you all again in Season Three!

TAC Season 2 is over. Thank you all for competing this season!!! Please look forward to TAC Season 3 hosted by Glubags!! I will be closing this thread today.
