Crazy crazy Saturday. They're going to have to put up catch fencing at Skyline with that Canto flip. Could have gone into the camping area.

Or more easily straight into the marshal's post had the car hit the barrier maybe 30-40 meters further down the circuit.

What’s going on? Is it the heat and drivers pushing too hard for the conditions like Garth Tander said? Is @R1600Turbo right, are the cars getting too fast for the mountain? Starting to think that possible LMP3 race later in the year isn’t actually a great idea.

Also looks like Roland Dane owes Cam
McConville a bit of an apology. Looks like an accidental brake check there.

I think it's the heat. Hottest it's been for this event. Like the driver in the Honda said, everyone needs to slow down a bit. Paul Morris said it as well.

Trust, anything over the speed limit, is too fast for the mountain.

Did they show in car footage from the Lambo? Just from the replays right afterwards. It looked like Shahin slowed quite a bit. Not sure what else McConville could have done, he had no time to react.

They did show in car footage from the Lambo and the Merc clearly hit the brakes.

Looked like he was moreso trying to get out of the way by riding the bakes and moving right. McConville, with his experience, should have backed out.

Yeah yeah, I'm no race car driver, but we see this scenario in real life and in video games. Shoulda woulda coulda, but the car behind, needs to choose to ease up. Whether the car in front is being a knucklehead or being cautious..

He won't get one, Roland probably saw the footage and still thought it was McConville's fault. Anyone driving for him can do no wrong, and everyone else is entirely 100% to blame.

Also Campbell's lap was astonishing, I have no idea how he was that 6-7 tenths up in Sector 1

Is there anywhere to rewatch quali and the shootout? Thanks. Edit: ignore me, was too busy looking on their website rather than YouTube.

Wow. Starting to think these cars are too fast for this circuit.

These are the same cars that have been racing at this track for years now, we're talking about machinery that dates back to 2007 even. Yet some how this time around they're too "fast". I'd put it more on drivers and just coincidence we're getting this many who are going full attack, and inexperience.

What GT3 car in the 12hr dates back to 2007?

While the Supercars and GT3's pull the same lap times, it's how they do it that is worrying. The GT3's have been too quick for the track for quite a few years now, tbh.

The current GT3 cars certainly have evolved from those in 2007. Same like a current VASC dates back to the V8SC from 1993.

Exactly, it just seems like they're saying that the same spec of car has been running there since '07??

Showers are to be expected later this afternoon, that'll make the end of the race interesting.
