Hi there. I regret to inform you all that I'm withdrawing from this series.
After thousands of hours of playing time, my DFP pedals have finally given up and it doesn't look like I can rectify the sticky brake pedal issue that's been plagueing them for a while anymore. I've lost count of the number of times I've stripped them down, cleaned them out, reseated potentiometers and wires and generally resurrected them more than I really ought to have! Since I'm not progressing to GT5, I'm not inclined to buy a new wheel / pedals, so I'm calling it quits. :(

Will still be around but won't be a competitor anymore. 👍

Doh! Sorry to see you go Smallhorses! I guess using a regular controller is out. It never fails things break at the worst times. Your the second pillar of the community to be taken out by equipment failures in the last month. I think it is a conspiracy, or maybe just really old equipment.

Look on e-bay Smallhorses. There was a "New in the Box" one available last week for USD$50.00 + $6.oo shipping & no one even bid on it! I thought about buying it just to have a spare. Mine's getting a bit "Long in the tooth" as well...O.G.

@ thc188: Glad you didn't enter all four divisions! :scared: The Gillet Vertigo was one of my very favorite rides in GT3 but after using it only once seven years ago in GT4, I deemed it "Unworthy". Boy, did you prove me wrong. I thought I was driving the wheels off the Oreca Viper but you smoked ALL my times! 👍 Wish Smallhorses had at least run the Chaparral, I've a feeling we were running it near it's limits. Most of our times were VERY Close!

I don't either, but thats the way the cookie crumbles. Division Four had some nice competition. The clear best car entered was your Divison Three Nissan R390 GT1 Race Car ('98) making you the individual winner and Thc118 won the two contested divisions and you the two uncontested ones.

It was a good season.

No ballast or driving aids

This setup works good on flat circuits like Suzuka or Twin Road Motegi although it still requires cautious driving. Brake early and clear corners with full throttle, avoid releasing accel during cornering, valuable seconds might be saved if you conform with ditto advices.
If you want you can post your own setup BH-21, so that we can compare our settings. ;)

Also, Congratulations to Old Geezer and Thc118 for their outstanding performance 👍 and thanks to BH-21 for creating very entertaining challenge again. 👍👍

I'm betting Smallhorses would've whooped both of us, but not by much.
I knew the Vertigo would dominate the other cars in its class, but would have some competition from your Nissan. It needed major suspension revisions to make it remotely controllable. I wasn't entirely happy with my set-up, understeer while coasting through apexes but nice oversteer when accelerating. While it was fast set-up, I couldn't find the time to suit my driving habits to its strange handling characteristics or to run most of the 2 lap races more than twice.

Thanks to BH-21 for running another great series and for the great bookeeping!
 
@Matej, the shocks and brake controller were adjusted depending on the track, some I never quite got right. I also added +2 TOE to the rear sometimes as well.

@BH-21: Just tried your setup at Deep Forest; it felt almost excellent I must say. Hard to drive too, but that's inevitably when it comes to GT40 I guess. :)

I would advice reducing front camber values due to increased braking distance which occurs so manifestly during braking. Also you might lower front and rear stabilisers to avoid rolling (it can occur if you put lower grade tires at both ends.). Final advice, if you want to adjust LSD (no errors found here but just for suggestion in future) for low-speed corners, Gymkhana course at Driving Park track selection can benefit - find cones that are scattered in circle and try to corner around them as fast as possible while keeping eyes on your speed and car behavior when accelerating/decelerating. I use this method when I want to test how various types of/values on LSD affects FF cars.

Sorry if I took your time to dig up those values but it's always interesting to see how other players deal with same vehicles. I should have used that method while I was involved in JGTC series with Raybrig NSX ...:(
 
Ok, Season Two rules and tenative car list is up. We can discuss which cars belong in which division. Once that is set we can start season two.

Well, in order to avoid rabbit cars in each division, maybe it's best to use Famine's or Car-Less vehicle sheet where car performances can be precisely compared by looking at their lap times. I always use those when I want to see which is the fastest without testing them (here).

By the way, I know that divisions are not fully completed yet, but I would like (if possible) to grab my hands on Honda NSX-R Prototype LM Race Car ('02) :).
 
Well, I can't get either of those files to check them myself. So I going to have to rely on input from others. It would be awesome if Car-Less were still lurking around and could recommend which division each car should be in.


Sure you can have the car which ever division it ends up in.

With this numbers we can easily measure current car performances, therefore vehicle distribution trough divisions might be easier.

Looks pretty good to me, but my 2 cents;
- I'd drop the S2000LM, its just not competitive with the other cars.
- I'd throw the rest all together and consider dropping the GTR LM & Gillet Vertigo as they are both a bit quicker than the others.

Also there is a difference between the PAL 350Z LM and the NTSC equivalent Fairlady Z LM; which I found out about in my time trial comp. Interesting but probably doesn't really affect the competition.

If you really want divisions maybe split it between real (ie Vertigo, Viper, Corvette, Lister & cars quite similar to race versions ie Zonda, XJ220 & GT LM) and Fantasy (the rest)

Having two divisions is fine, although I'm not too sure whether all of us will participate in both divisions, therefore we could have lonely drivers in worst case. On the other hand, transferring slowest cars in second division gives us close racing (these cars are now fully competitive because drivers are forced to choose between them if they want to participate in second division - NSX and Storm are good examples).

About S2000 LM; despite it's tremendous handling it's too slow to compete even with NSX, so maybe it's best to permit single power upgrade just for this car. After a small investigation I found out that S2000 LM can be equipped either with NA Tune Stage 3 or Turbo Kit Stage 3/4. Unfortunately, I do not own this car so someone should check how much power this upgrades can produce (maximum power is around 580 hp and that's probably with Turbo Stage 4).

Vehicle distribution is getting better and better. At first, I thought that Jaguar should join the second division but if we follow the rule of balance (best drivers - slower cars and vice versa) maybe that's not necessary.
 
Here's how I see it...

Hands down, the best car is the Vertigo. Its time is misleading due to the terrible suspension tune it got from PD. If the slowest driver takes the GT-R, he'll be able to compete without running away unlike anyone else who picks it.

The NSX-R also got a crap suspension from PD and can run with the bottom 3 of Division One, the Jag, RX-7 & 8. And as much as I love the S2000, it's got no chance at all. Division 2 seems pointless to me right now, does anyone even like the Lister? I think a single division is possible, especially if we try to match our driving skills with the appropriate cars.



My top two choices have already been gobbled up, so I haven't decided whether to double up or find a new ride...
 
Well I was thinking of running two cars, with the Lister being one and a Viper the other.

Remember the results will show both by divison and overall.

It goes both ways, the slower drivers also have to pick the faster cars, If competing for the win is important to them.
But its tricky, what If I really enjoy driving the GTR LM, while you enjoy driving the Lister, using those cars, our times are not going to be close.
It ultimately, comes down to a compromise between having the results table being close (you'll need to know how fast everyone is to do that, this is prob the best measure stick for me) and the freedom to choose whatever cars we want. It's going to be hard to have both.

If you add some more cars to Div 2 it might get more entrants, (ie FTO Touring car, Impreza Touring Car, Corvette Z06 (C2), Falken GTR) they're not too far off the pace of the Lister & NSX-R Proto, and I think they still quantify as GT cars.

Also if you want the RX-7 thc118 Let me know I'll happily find something else, though I don't think there's any rules against doubling up.

I'm going to go with a Nissan 350Z Concept LM. Since it's the 500HP version, its performance should fall somewhere in the middle of all the picked cars.

Depending on how things go, I may grab another car later on.
 
Ok, I dropped the S2000, after buying one and looking at it. That would leave only two in the second divison so I added them to Divison One and dropped Divsion Two.

The S2000 would make a good single make racecar event (hint, hint). :)

Racing Roster is up, offical season start is scheduled for saturday September 15th. That would make the end of the season on October 15th.
 
I don't want to open up a can of worms here, but I want to enter this series using the Nissan GT-R Concept LM... My question is, would I have to find another car for this?
 
If it's on the list it's fine, but I think that it's too fast compared to the other cars and should be removed from competition.

That's why I was wondering whether I should use it or not... If the GT-R Concept LM does get banned from this series, then I'll go with the Zonda LM as a Plan B. Now I just need to get my disks cleaned and wait for my electricity to get fixed and I'll be good to go...
