GT Series track list is getting STALE

Agree with OP, feel like this happening across many genres, look at Battlefield games releasing with a handful of maps.
It's pretty much the price we pay for better graphics. Better graphics require more resources, which in the past would have been used for more content. That's why many games look great, but they feel short and/or unfinished.

Hopefully gaming graphics reach their peak soon, so then "graphics" stop being a selling point, so devs can focus more on the actual game.

Tokyo R246, Côte d'Azur, Citta Di Aria, Costa di Amalfi, El Capitan and Pikes Peak, would be my choices to add variety to the game.

Imagine laserscanning tracks for ultimate realism is a thing whilst gamepad players become the driving dynamics professors.... I hope PD can make GT7 more of a sim, dont care if pad players will suffer, they have huge handicap already. Tracks can obviously be made good enough for a virtual purpose by "just" modeling them. If it makes them so proud then put a sign over tracks that are scanned. Id imagine most players would find huge satisfaction from being able to drive around local tracks in their countries. Trackbuilder functionality might be able to do this too, but a talented modeler should be able to squeeze out one track a week no problem. Lets hope GT7 will be the game we have longed for. The real world track list in GTS is pathetic. The fantasy tracks and the fact they have a reversed duplicate.... Give me a break...
Did someone sodomise you with a ds4?

I whish... That rumble effect dude...
Ha ha, Maybe the duel sense would be the go. Give the haptics a good workout.

I think your views on pad users is wrong though. There are a multitude of reasons why people stick with the pad. To suggest that pad players dont have valid feedback to offer regarding physics is laughable.

No force feedback on these bad boys.

I raced these at a high level for about 10 years. Including competing at World Championships. The adjustment on the cars is as advanced as any "real" race car, you need to know what the car is doing to make the appropriate setup changes.

Did you literally join this forum just to complain that pad players are allowed to have opinions? How sad that you can't address their points directly, and instead have to attack the fact that they're allowed to speak at all.

Lol. One track a week? Like, you think that a modeller should be able to make an entire track from scratch to an acceptable level for a AAA PS5 game in one single week?

Exactly how much cocaine and amphetamines do you propose to feed to this poor unfortunate soul?

Fat Alfie, arguably one of the best 'from scratch' track builders around for AC, puts out a track a year on average.

Is the add for this position on Seek? Asking for a friend...
latest
Really though, I wonder what a PD Environment Modeller does in one week... 20% of a pitlane? The level of detail is enormous, and even making a track at PS2 quality, with today's software and without hardware limitations, would take longer than that.

Completely unrealistic expectations. You have to realise, Gran Turismo is a flagship title for the Playstation brand, with a very large budget and a massive sales expectation.

I imagine that the number of Playstation 4/5 users with a wheel must surely be below 5% (and that is likely an extremely generous number). It only makes sense then that they primarily cater towards controller users. To make GT more of a sim would absolutely tank the controller user base. Try using a controller to drive in AC, ACC, iRacing etc, it's horrendous.

And this is coming from a direct drive user...you have to reconcile reality with what you desire. In principle I actually agree, having a huge budget studio like PD to make a dedicated sim for rig users would be incredible, but at this moment in time it's just not realistic, certainly not for the home console market.

Regarding the tracks, I've always found it surprising that all the current F1 tracks are not included. I would have thought that was a priority, and they don't change much so should give good value for money/time and long term appeal to the fans...

Of course they change occasionally, and sometimes parts of the tracks, but as mentioned previously, incremental updates would take less resources to model than new full tracks

Grand Prix tracks are by their nature designed (usually) for high performance F1 cars. That doesn't usually translate well to lower powered cars. As a random example COTA is a pretty good modern F1 circuit but driving the full lap in a stock 60s Beetle isn't going to give you that same thrill.

Slower cars need tighter, shorter circuits which GT used to be full of, now they seem to be making everything like real grand prix tracks, which is a shame. You lose that variety.

It's pretty much impossible to get all of them, as there were 22 tracks in the 2021 season. If they were to pick some, pick the most unique.

And as others mentioned, GT needs something different. Citta di Aria would be a breath of fresh air for example, even though is not really suitable for racing (though slower/smaller cars could race there with a smaller grid). Pikes Peak would be great for some unrestricted cars (imagine Gr.B cars completely maxed out). We need a proper city track, like R246 atleast.

Default ACC DS4 settings are perfect for me. I did need to adjust AC settings.
Is that on the PC or console? I hear it runs badly on the PS4 but don't want to assume anything, hence my question. Cheers.

I would have to agree with @05XR8 with the controller input for both games. On the PS4 pro ACC didn’t run as smooth as GTS and you would get hiccups, but I could get past it because the driving and track dynamics were great! On the PS5 it runs great In my opinion.

Well GT, for me, is a racing game with a relaxed vibe and quite some heritage. It has been around more then 20 years. If I am honest I would like to see a nice mix of old and new. I absolutely would love to see Grand Valley Speedway and Apricot Hill in GT7 at the cost of a Silverstone or LeMans. I guess it depends on what GT means for you as a game. Sim racing I do with ACC. Just having fun with cars and track (and graphics) I do with GT. As for new tracks, let’s just say PD hasn’t been able to create truly iconic new tracks, so I don’t really care.

man if someone thinks the GT track list is stale, imagine adding in the same 22-odd tracks from every other game into it.

F1 tracks are boring for everything that isn't an F1 car.

I agree as well. I haven't changed the default controller settings since I got ACC on my PS5

Are you saying that Interlagos, Spa, Suzuka & Barcelona are boring in Gr2 & Gr3 cars???

The F1 2022 series includes Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Montreal tracks which look interesting, but I couldn't find them in Assetto Corsa or PC2 or 3. Maybe you meant every other game?

I've got a pro & can tolerate a degree of roughness. I might just give it a go, quite fancied a bash at it. Cheers for the reply & info mate, much appreciated.

Playing the same exact licensed tracks in every single game is impossibly boring. Also, here's the thing. If I wanna play the same tracks that are in every other game, I'll play them in something like iRacing or AC so at least the cars are as realistic as possible.

Those ""classic"" F1 venues like Spa, Suzuka, and Interlagos are actually bananas fun in a NASCAR Cup car.

The modern venues are awful.

All of those other tracks are available via third party mods in AC.

For me, playing the same licences tracks in every game, are different. It’s not the same experience when I use the exact same car or I drive a ‘65 Alfa TZ in GTS, Ginetta Jumior in PC2 and GT4 Camaro in ACC, at Bathurst in each of those games. Especially when I add weather and time of day and multi-class. Leaving static weather, it‘s ultimately about the cars and tools available to players.

Bathurst is one of those tracks I absolutely CAN play in every game because it's scary every time.

I mainly have an issue with the modern style F1 tracks that, outside of like, Jeddah, are vast and wide open and don't feel exciting.

Wanting those tracks in every game is a waste of time.

I can understand.
