GT Sport Closed Beta Updated to v1.05

2 things I noticed.

1) Why do I now have an ultra wide angle viewpoint in bumper cam, but only in races...? I would have to move 1m closer to the TV to see enough now...

2) Traction control seems to have been vastly improved (I admit to using it in some cars to defend against 4WDs at the start). Or maybe it's just the added low speed grip that's having this effect?

It seems that PD still can't wrap their heads around the concept of giving people options rather than forcing stuff on them, even though I did mention it to them here (see point 7) & well over 100 people agreed. Also, this latest example takes patronizing to a whole new level.

EDIT: I just did a bug report & copy & pasted the URL to this post into it. Maybe they'll get the message this time.

In retrospect, the Brake indicator may be a good idea for new drivers that relied on the driving line. Maybe the option to disable it will come once you graduate from E class. Who knows. :boggled:

If I had to use one word to describe this update it would definitely be grip. It feels like there is twice as much grip than before. I actually checked to see if TC was turned on in my settings. Now you can be much more aggressive with the throttle. There is no need to gradually get back on the gas on corner exit, just mash and go.
Great. Fantastic.

I don't think PD knows what kind of game they want to make. Their actual tag line is "the real driving simulator". There's the whole thing with GT Academy and the big e-sport sort of events. But then they dumb down physics to attract the COD and BF1 crowd. What the **** man.

We may have got more 3D trees at the ring, but now we have more pop-up. This one is really distracting, right in the centre of the screen, right at the start of a braking zone. The vehicles in the field.

Yes it's just a beta, but in the various builds we've seen they seem to oscillate between two extremes of more detail vs less pop-up.

OK, this case would be improved by having a better low-resolution texture, and there's no reason to generate those until they've settled on where they'll be used.

It's a case of making a genre suitable for as many as possible with little or no requirements in driving standard. Maybe it would be best for the rest us hoping for a better and more realistic GT to just move on to another platform like what most decent experienced drivers have done. They've had years to sort out the fundamentals of sim driving/racing and it gets ever more convoluted. The loss in sales won't be missed either.

All they care about is money, maybe this is their idea of a "straw poll"? Adding up the yea's and nea's and see what will sell the most.

That ultra realistic what you guys want is not where this game for is. Then go play Asetto or something.

I still dont get that people complain about things that was never GT en never will be GT because GT is more for the standard gamer then Asetto is.

Just go play that orher game what you do like i dont see the problemen.

I only had time to play for about 10 mins last night, but I got to test a couple things and haven't seen this mentioned yet - the rotate/free cam has been smoothened, at least in interior view (I didn't get to testing it in 3rd person or other views). It has a new "snapping" issue, though, where up to a certain amount of input the camming won't do anything, and it will jolt to the direction you look. I still think it's a little too sensitive but it's moved in the right direction. Dunno if there's settings for it in quick options or a deeper menu.

Also as far as I saw, the gravel effects only occur on the Nurburgring - it wasn't present on Brands, anyways.

I was excited to fire it up yesterday and try it out after reading about the update, so as soon as I could it was off to Nurb with a Gr.4 SLS. I ran 5 seconds faster on my first lap with plenty of time still out there. It was still fun racing online, just not nearly as satisfying when you nail a corner or make a pass.

Is it OK if we discuss it sir?

This is by far the biggest problem i have with aids like "skid recovery force" - the fact it makes one faster. That forces everyone using it in a race if one is using. Driving aids should NEVER make a good driver faster..

Does anyone know when the daily racing schedule will be updated?

I still only see 19:00-20:00-21:00

(EU Zone).

I don't like PD announcing more daily races but not implementing them... makes no sense.

Yes you can for ever and ever
And it's ok for us to be opinionated about whatever feelings and thoughts others have. Why would anyone ask for permission? As long as we're not telling or insinuating that someone shouldn't express their thoughts, it's all good in the neighborhood.

As long as you are kissing, lapping, and praising :)
Please don't say that about us. I'm a fanboy, but I'm not an ass kisser.

I still want to know that too. But I fear that they did the all-day races for just one day (maybe it was just a test) and then we will be back to the old schedule until the BETA ends, sadly. I hope that doesnt happen.

I've been online every day in GTS (EU) since the beta started for us, I haven't seen that race schedule any day at all (since 3 may) so I don't think I've missed it, if it was just 1 day -may 3rd- my beta didn't show it... I was ingame in GTS for over 20hrs on may 3rd (after installing the update).

On the day of the update more events also during the afternoon (EU timezone) were available. Just one day.

This is not the first time PD changes the physics to accommodate a certain type of players. It happened in GT5, GT6 and now in the beta. PD thought their physics engine was fine for GT6 at launch until some people started pointing out that the cars are hard to control and whatnot. I was not among the people complaining that a 700hp Audi racecar did not drive like my 65hp Suzuki. So clearly, I wasn't the one who bought the game expecting it to be something it was not.

When Kaz announced the support from the FIA and the big competitive events and the focus on racing and winning and all that stuff, did anyone actually expect GT Sport to be just like Driveclub or Need for Speed? Was I really that naive to expect something that would actually be in line with the message they were conveying?

I'm all for making it accessible to the masses and I agree that casual players should also be allowed to have fun with the game. Put some driving aids or driving line or a big red flashing B R A K E assist somewhere. But please don't change the entire game to the point where cars behave like in Mario Kart 8 all of a sudden.

Double post from physics here

Is it/has it been normal to have speed sensitive steering without aids? Noticed my steering angle changes as i accelerate yet the wheel stays the same. Here a little video - i turn and keep my wheel at 90 degree and accelerate.. :odd: this might be the reason i seem to catch slides a lot faster..

Videos over the last few pages clearly show all is not well if this is meant to be a sim. Previously cars handled unrealistically on dirt, I'm sure we've all been passed by someone driving off track and then barging you out of the way. The update seems to have only made it easier to drive off track.

I've only done a handful of group 4 laps at Brands Hatch since the update, What I found is more grip, especially in the Genesis, my FL has improved quite a bit. It feels better (to me at least) when using the DS4.

My suspicion is that PD are making it easy to play, thus will sell well to "non sim" fans rather than being a "pure" racing game for the sim racing enthusiasts.

You have got to be joking I hope?

Assetto Corsa is easy as ****. A lot easier than GTS. The only thing "more realistic" in AC (imho) is the tuning options but that doesn't mean that AC truly is more realistic, it doesn't feel realistic at all tbh, there is toooooo much grip in AC.

I'm A LOT faster in AC than i am in GTS using AC default setups.

No, AC is not more realistic than GTS, far from. My T500RS actually behaves like the wheel in my car behaves if I compare the handling of my own car with the virtual handling of my car in GT6.

AC is way too easy. After 2 weekes of streaming AC gameplay i was told I was one of the fastest people seen streaming AC at that moment.

AI on 100% and still beating them with a huge gap between myself & p2.

AC = supergrippy, way, way, wayyyy to grippy.

With 1.0.5 I have only tried two cars so far, the N300 Lotus Evora, and Gr.4 Alfa 4C

My FL before the update with the Evora @ Brands was 1:44.2, with a suggested best lap of 1:43.7 (would have been good enough for top 10 in the US). After the update the best I have been able to achieve is 1:45.9. For me the car is 2-3 mph slower mid-corner in every corner than before. That said, the other cars in the class also seem slower, as I seem to be able to compete against many of the folks running the Lancer's now, where I used to be 0.5-1.0 seconds slower.

In the Gr.4 4C, the car 'feels' to have slightly more grip than it did before, but I don't have any hard data to back it up.

From what I have seen it seems the Top 10 lap times have not improved since the update (for N300), which suggests the cars have less grip. But I haven't looked closely at Gr.4 or Gr.3 times.

Same here 2 and a half second slower with the evora brands hatch gp.
On the ring GR4 with the alfa 4C i´m now at the same pace than my best time GTR GR4 1.04 , 7:30. Not because of more grip , just because the car is a lot more safe.
With the 4C 1:04 it was almost impossible to pass over a kerb when at the limit of the grip. Now you can go without any fear. Same with GR3 short base MR cars like renault or 458 GT3 on dragon tail.

All top 10 times are using Lancer. Lancer suffered a small, but significant change in BoP: Decrease of horsepower, from 309 HP to 296 HP. Therefore, Lancer is no longer flying, but the times from flying Lancers will still be there until we got a reset.
