I'd be playing arcade mode (only thing you can do in offline mode), except in my experience, playing a game tends to slow down the downloads.

I spent the last bit racing and doing things ... inherited a few things like cars and credits, but it reset all game progress. I am back up to Level 11, passed all beginner driving school challenges, the first row of missions, and re-did the two circuit challenges. The short-track daily online race was utterly ridiculous. Overpowered cars and people playing bumper cars. I had the pole but had to slow down a bit as I was lapping folks, then got jammed from behind around the bend, then from the side, then from behind ... ugh.
