GT Sport Has Received 103 Free Cars & 32 Tracks Since Release

All good from PD. And yes, by any rational definition of the word 'free' the DLC has been free. People can argue about how all these extra cars "should have been in the game from day one" but that doesn't change anything.
I guess the same could be said for DLC cars in Horizon 4 returning from the 360 era. Should have been in the game from day one, right? Because, you know, they were OBVIOUSLY modelled already to Xbox One standards.

Yes.. actually, GTSport should be placed beside FM5,

because they are both making their debut on the new generation console.

Old assets ? They had to make it from ground up.

Maybe so, but the average consumer doesn’t care about extra development if they already drove the same car in GT6.

Do they really start from scratch with every old car? The car research done for the old games should still apply.

Honestly, if they said that was their plan at the start, people would've given them a lot more slack.

They did it, but at PD style when Kaz told that they had The goal of have between 400 and 500 cars in an interview but nota using any of their official channels

Old assets ? They had to make it from ground up. I hope for PS5 though they don't have to do it again. I am actually very surprised they supported this game for free for a year. For GT game the content was low but there was enough content for a casual racing fan. I personally despise buying DLC and buy complete edition of games on sale. They could have made money as DLC is a huge profit for game companies. They stuck to their guns and have done amazing job.
GT3 only launched with 5 more cars and 2 more track locations FYI.

I mean, there's the small additional consideration of FH4 launching with over 450 cars out of the gate, versus the approximately 160-170 that GTS had at launch. Much harder to complain about value for money in the former case.

Not that it changes the fact that PD deserve some kudos for delivering a steady stream of free DLC cars to bolster that number in the months since launch.

32 tracks or 5 or 6 with 10 variations and reverses and other cheap tricks like that?

Polyphony, do you guys want a suggestion for a GREAT and FULLY APRECIATED DLC? :sly:
No?
Ok, but I'll suggest it anyways:D

Bring back Grand Valley Speed Way, Trial Mountain, High Speed Ring and Special Stage Route 5. This tracks are Granturismo DNA, the very soul of this project that was pathetically disposed by new tracks that are pure technical crap.
Thanks.

12 locations with 32 variations.

That consists of seven new locations (16 variations; six at St. Croix, two each at Monza, Fuji, Red Bull Ring, and La Sarthe, and one each at Tsukuba and Catalunya) and five extensions of existing GT Sport locations (16 variations; six at Maggiore, four at Blue Moon Bay, and two each at Tokyo, Dragon Trail and Kyoto).

Given the sales of Gran Turismo and its importance to Sony as one of its flagship franchises, the amount of free additional content that's been released for 5, 6 and Sport is astonishing. Much of it can be considered a necessity rather than a luxury given the state of some games (GT5) on release, but pretty much no developer or publisher with sales like PD has produces post-release content at this rate. Anyone who still complains has no idea what the modern video game industry is like.

I Believe people look at things like this...

Just say you paid $60 for GT Sport.

You got 16 tracks at the start and they released 16 free DLC tracks per month. Are the DLC free? Yes. But some people feel like this is an expectation included in the original $60 asking price. There was no expectation the GT Sport remain static.

Just say you paid $60 for Forza 7.

You get 32 tracks at the start Day One. You get various variations of the track that close to double the amount of 'tracks'. That's it. You also get the bonus that you can play everything from day one.

I vastly prefer GT Sport however I can see how people like the way Turn 10 work.

I personally dont mind the way GT6 and GT Sport does this 'episodic' DLC thing. But many people dont and many people dont like how other people dont mind it and wish there was a return to the days when the game was complete from day one.

This is the ps4 not the ps2 so I dont agree with that but I can appreciate people wanting those good ol' days from 2004. Or Forza.

Well I'm hoping as a christmas present they give us all 20 million credits. Because as nice all the new cars are, what isn't so nice is how unobtainable those 20 million credit cars are. That was never the case in other GT games. Not even GT PSP

One thing I noticed is that it's harder to make money, I mean, it took me a ton of career mode races to get 1M. On the other hand, you get much better cars as offers for hitting mark points.

If someone told me in October 2017 that an extra 103 cars would be added, I would've laughed. After lacking a regular update schedule in GT5 and GT6, I didn't think that PD could pull off such a feat. But here we are... What a great game this has become!

You say that it takes a long time to get your 1M so out of curiosity how much time does it take to get it ?

Being a 100% project cars guy due to its "sim" component, i bought GTSports 2 weeks ago because it was only $30cad, because brings me back to those amazing old times and it's a pretty nice entertainment option and to be honest, despite still feels arcade as heck it improved greatly and feels way more "real" than GT6.
Since it almost got to the frontier between arcade and sim, wouldn't now be the time for PD to take that last step ahead?
@svenvangent, basically it took the whole beginner and 3/4 of the amateur racing stages to get there mainly because you have to buy some cars for particular series and the VGT's alone cost 1M so, excluding the expenses you get there fast but including those unavoidable expenses, yeah, takes a while until you get that big round number on your top right corner.

@Schmiggz you should have started with Curcuit Experience. You get a car after every track completion(gold), and a pretty good one time payout. The driving school hands out cars, and credits, but slower at getting cars.

I started a second ID a while back for the extra decal storage, but played the game some too. My main objective was to see how far I could get, without buying a car. I think I only have about 4-5 events I don't have a car for. The game just won't give me a MX5, or a Clio which is really annoying. Those cars are super cheap, but I'm sticking to the not buying anything. The others I'm missing are the F1 car, X2014, and one of the high dollar cars, which I have enough credits to buy one, but again, trying not to.

It is not 32 tracks.... its a few tracks but plenty of variants.

You should stick to the truth here.

And this is covered within the article as well. And it is the truth.
