GT Sport Has Received 103 Free Cars & 32 Tracks Since Release

PD has done a great job updating the game with some Amazing tracks and cars. But miss the classics tracks from previous games hopefully they return at some point, it strange that we have not got the c6 zr1 yet, that is a must car to have in gt sport to me

The amount of free content that GTS has received since launch is phenomenal! Hats off to PD, it's not often you see this sort of ongoing support with such a large amount of free content going on for so long in the games industry these days.

Unless you're asserting that only locations can be tracks, no.

Famine trying to make a weak point when it’s obvious to everyone that 32 tracks gives the impression of 32 separate race circuits not 1 circuit which is 90% the same but with one corner taken out so somehow qualifies as a new track

The title for the article is misleading and should read variations.

For those who think locations are the only definition of "track", I present the Nurburgring location and its two variations that are in fact the same track, the GP circuit and the Nordschleife, and the Willow Springs location's three variations that are in fact the same track, Streets, Big Willow and Horse Thief Mile.

"Location" is not the only definition of "track". More to the point, it's not a very good definition of "track" - is the track record at Brands Hatch 38 seconds?

The title for the article is misleading and should read variations.
It's not, and shouldn't.

Almost 2019, many people still don't have the right cognition

「GTSport」 and「 FM5」, they are both making their debut on the new generation console.

they are all slammed by some people completely out of control again and again because of the lack of content in the past when the game launched.

everything has to be remade or upgrade, only if people fully accept the standard and premium car they have a huge quality gap like GT5/6.
(we have already seen a lot of criticism of them in the past, because of these differences.)

anyway, hope we won't see this missing content type of complaint again, when series new game debut on the next generation console.

Now if only Forza bothered with the "remaking" part.

I also think PD has done a great job on the amount of content that has been released throughout each update. Knowing how PD has been in the past about saying one thing then not delivering I really didn't expect to see this much effort from them and it's nice to be proved wrong for a change.

I However think they could have done a better job on fixing some issues, bugs, cheats and other various problems within GTS especially the ones which have been around for quite sometime.
But all in all I'm very pleased GTS has evolved to where it so now.

This whole debate comes down to how you interpret the terms. Counting the examples can get muddy and easily become a hot topic for debate. For me, here’s how I see it:

Location = a place or complex. Nurburg, Tokyo, Williow Springs, Monza, Mt. Panorama, St. Croix, Dragon Trail

Track = a circuit. Sarthe, Bathurst, Horse Theif Mile, Nurburgring, Fuji, Big Willow, Tsukuba, Dragon Trail Gardens, St. Croix layout ‘A’

Variation = exactly that; a variarion or layout of a track whether it be with or without a chicane and/or reverse layout. Monza and Sarthe have 2 examples, and Tokyo even more.

Even though the DLC has been good, padding the count by factoring variations doesn’t impress me.

Personally I wouldn’t say the game has 39 ‘tracks’. It has 39 total examples based on ‘x’ number of tracks/circuits at ‘x’ number of locations.

Dragon Trail: Gardens + Seaside is a good example of the difference being muddled. Which is a good thing, those are 2 circuits in their own right that share a location.

Unfortunately PD has gotten out of hand with this because almost half of the games' track list is variants of only 3 locations, St. Croix, Maggiore, and Kyoto. Which is absolutely ridiculous. Not only do so many variants take away the impact of the course, it makes it difficult on the player to truly learn the circuit.

This is by far the best support for a game in the decade of videogames ever!!!!

We love you Polyphony!

I wouldn't call this support. I would say that they are still working on this game to make it a full game.
Had a lot of fun allready with this game but it is a shame that they work so long on a game with so little content at release.

Here we go again with the "Full" and "half" game thingy...

We are so spoiled today ..and yet people moan, when i first got sega rally on the saturn, full game, 3 cars and 4 tracks, and you could complete it in about 10 mins, there wasnt any moaning, had loads of mates come round to see it in awe, ....wow

The good old days of video gaming before there was a thing called the internet. My wife and I still breakout the Sega and play it sometimes..and it's still fun.

I'm certain they are holding those tracks for GT7 (or whatever the next one will be).
I don't think Poly will make the same mistake: releasing a new game on PS4 when next gen is just around the corner. Maybe, from a technical point of view, tracks like Deep Forest or Trial Mountain are famous for its tree tunnels and probably it can't be done on PS4. Look at Mapple Valley in Forza 7, the tree tunnel is gone, just some random trees and the track feels soulless.

My only wish for GT7 is more fun, less FIA focus. And since GT5, the game looks often too serious, almost dull. Where are the waving flags, the cheering crowd, the rock soundtrack and the crazy jumps at Seattle? Gran Turismo 3 is the most sold game of the franchise for a good reason. Sure the number of tracks and cars is important but the "vibe" is essential.
The arcade menu alone sets the atmosphere :

If it's really PD's plan to add 500 cars into GTS then we still have a lot of life left in this game as we are not even to 300 yet. I think GTS still has a good 2 years before we would get the last of the content updates. I agree with you and see no reason why the next GT title wouldn't be for the PS5 especially with GTS having such a long life left.

I suppose you all consider your time to be free?

Even if I wanted to play this game for many many hours per week, I would have to spend many of those hours doing things that I don't really want to do (grinding) to obtain just one of these 20 million credit cars.

I really want to drive the F50! It'll be a few more sessions (once or twice per week, in which I play for an hour or so) before I get to blow my whole account on it.

Throwing the "free" argument out the window, this is a good point in of itself. If you find yourself playing a game just to grind for new content, and not to have genuine entertainment, then there's a serious problem with either the game or yourself. In this case I have to say its definitely the game's fault.

GT Sport is one of the worst cases of the Gen for senseless grinding. Forza has some pretty pricey cars and a massive car list to boot, but they make up for that by throwing free prize cars at you every ten minutes or so. Project CARS makes the smart decision to have everything unlocked from the get-go, and other games have very small lists by comparison, making the grind far less of an issue.
Gt Sport could have been a lot better if the daily/achievement gift cars were either guaranteed to be cars you don't already own, or could be sold for half the credits they're worth. But that's not the case.

Furthermore the grind in GT Sport genuinely isn't worth the time. When you blow your bank on a Shelby Daytona or XJ13, you can do nothing with them in competitive online nor against the bots in custom matches thanks to Gr.X. I think this is the first game I've ever played where you can't race the Zonda R against the likes of a McLaren P1 GTR or Aston Vulcan and its embarrassing. Just one of the reasons why I haven't bothered with this game in months, and why I don't want to see Blue Moon Bay ever again. I just don't like games that expect you to devote all your free time to them, or play in a very specific way, to make any sort of significant progression. Game devs seem to forget that people actually have lives.

As for the main topic. I don't think that the track count is 100% accurate considering that some tracks are just new routes for tracks offered in the base game, but IMO the inclusion of Le Mans more than made up for that. The car list is a solid achievement, however, and in that respect they should keep up the good work. Just please, for the love of Pete, stop putting cars in Gr.X. Just make new categories instead like: "track toys", "60's Le Mans", "70's Le Mans", etc. If they do that then I'll be tempted to reinstall the game.

Buying 20 mill cars isn't any kind of significant progression. Winning the FIA GTC would be... but I guess you'd be against having to dedicate all your time to winning that?

That isn't game progression, that's a competitive online experience.

And there's a cut & dry difference between playing the game the way it was meant to be played, competing against real players, on different tracks, with unique conditions, all whilst improving your driving skill.... compared to picking the same car, and racing it on the same track, with the same conditions over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over, to unlock a car so you can do the same thing again over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over for the next car (repeat).
