Sounds:

(...) the difference in volume from bumper/cockpit view and chase cam seemed more apparent than in previous games.
A-ha! Cockpit sounds - are they like in GT6, as in, just the outside camera engine noises filtered through an equalizer? Or are they properly muffled, basically new interior samples?

Eager Snake - If they resolve all of the running issues and tidy up some of the scenery textures (nothing really major) then it could well be. One thing I'd love to see is if we have a version with rain then for the puddles to accumulate at the low points of the track. This is one thing Forza 6 does very well. As for sounds I didn't notice any 'new' ones other than the turbo flutter already seen.

Madertus - I would say I noticed there was more of a difference to the sounds than in GT6, although I did not hear it clearly enough to be certain.

I'm off to bed now, I'll answer everything else tomorrow morning :)

Are you sure about the 16 cars? In this video there are 20:

I can confirm I had a 20 car Arcade race today also. I think it was on Brands Hatch though not 100% sure of the track. But it was definitely 20 cars in the race as I can remember looking at the car list and being taken aback as everything i had seen beforehand had been 16 cars. It may be that it was only possible to have 20 cars on Brands Hatch for some reason.

Oh and the graphics today for Nurburgring were significantly ahead of what was in the trailer. I spent a fair amount of time watching people playing when not playing myself and don't recall seeing any flat trees or flat grass. My instinct was that some tracks were more "finished " than others, the Brands Hatch track looks pretty much complete to me, but its possible that the Nurburgring was only just finished, or not quite there yet.

To my untrained eyes, Brands Hatch looked stunning today up close.

Right, must sleep... I'll try to post some more impressions up here tomorrow...

Here's the menu video which finished uploading when I was asleep last night. What an amazing day it was! It was an honour to meet Jordan, the GTP crew and Kaz. I'll report back later to this thread. 👍

And one of many great race battles we saw yesterday:

What a lovely battle! Thanks

Now I'll be able to post my version of events, and of course I would like to thank @Jordan , Playstation UK and Polyphony Digital and all the GTP members I encountered for making this truly amazing experience a reality!

The atmosphere inside and out of the venue was amazing, but I guess most readers of this thread would be interested in how I found Gran Turismo Sport. I'll start with graphics and I have to say compressed videos on YouTube do no justice to show how awesome this game looks. I can forgive people for saying it looks like GT6 remastered based on YouTube videos, but when you see the game live you can see the immense level of detail which is actually a huge step up. Admittedly, you can see areas where the visuals still need work; cars and shadows still have aliased edges and I can recall a bit of screen tearing when a lot of cars were ahead of me on the Nurburging. Still, the games runs at a solid 60fps, car quality and foilage is second to none and yes, the Ring has 3D trees in the build I played yesterday! :sly:

As for physics, expect GT Sport to be evolutionary rather than revolutionary. I had a go on both the wheel and DS4, but the latter was easier to get to grips with since I am a DS3 user on Gran Turismo 6. I approached races the same way I would on earlier games and didn't experience much difference. Collision physics are like they would be in an early build of Gran Turismo so cars would bounce on impact. I'm satisfied with the driving physics although it is hard to judge collision physics at this stage, but I would like to see some more realism in that field.

Bite size points:
  • Sounds have generally improved. All the cars I tried (Tuned MX5, 2017 GT-R, 4C Gr. 3, VW VGT, FT-1 VGT, Subaru Gr. 3) had good samples. Some better than others but they seemed more natural than GT6.
  • Speaking of which, the Subaru sounded even better in reality! The blow-off valve sounds are entirely new and sound amazing :embarrassed:
  • Crash sounds have improved, although I would like to hear some sounds of debris in the final build.
  • The AI seemed good to me, they are aware of the player (most of the time) and do make mistakes. Nice to know they are not on rails in an early build!
What I was most impressed with today was how e-Sports is integrated in GT Sport and I believe it has got a big future ahead of it. Being able to participate and spectate races live was huge fun, similar to watching real races! I really hope Gran Turismo Sport is able to give e-Motorsport the recognition it deserves, so far it is looking promising and could lead to one of the biggest changes in the racing game genre! 👍

If anyone has any questions I would be happy to answer them as best as I can! When I had an opportunity to race on the main stage I finished 8th... Which I was satisfied with seeing as I started in 12th and I was up against @GumballCGT (Congrats on the win!)

I thought the event was very successful and it was nice to meet so many members of GTP.

Having worked with a few of the guys from PD on the Pods, they are some of the nicest people you can meet. You can really feel their passion and excitement for the game especially during some of the online races going by their expressions! Myself and a few others spoke with one of the members of PD for a good 20 minutes last night and some of his comments on how they think about the implementation of certain features and create the game in general was very insightful and certainly interesting. :)

Helped out in 2013 and got the same impression then so good to see they are still like that. They take pride in their work. Know what you mean about their excitement especially for the online races, won the race I did and one of the PDI guys I think congratulated me and looked a lot more enthusiastic and happy about it than me.

Well I think GTSport is spin-off of Gran Turismo , more than Prologue less than GT
for a spin-off i think GTSport features are good

What i want to see :-
-R34 or Murcielago
-Stock cars can be upgraded to RM (GR.4) cars
-Long live game
-challenger (EX-HARD) difficulty
-Too expensive cars , not like GT6 i can buy any cars easily
-Gift cars like GT2 and GT3 (ohh God bless old days)
-LICENSE ! (GT4 difficluty)
-Ranked or Levels in Online so it make it too much fun and long live game
-MOON OVER THE CASLTE Sport.Ver
-Endurance Races !
-Decals of cars manufacturers

lol that what comes in my mind at the moment

Thank you very much for your feedback.

I have a question: do you give your feedback to PoDi?
Yeah I would also like to know if they were asking for feedback.

There was the Q&A after the presentation (Around 6:30) where members of the audience could ask questions after playing the game. Questions were related to damage modelling, existing wheel support, the hardest aspect of development and @nowcontrol asking if TVR would return! The answer to the last question seemed ominous as Kaz said the rights to TVR were unclear at this stage. However, there wasn't time for everyone to ask questions. After the Q&A, there was a meet and greet the team including Kaz. I couldn't provide much else which wasn't already discussed with the team already.

I mentioned tyre pressures, the incorrect/backwards ride height in GT6 (to which he acknowledged, as well as camber), less "perfect" (engine) sounds, more realistic physics as well as a few other things I can't remember at the moment.

He did ask for feedback as well as any bugs or errors with the code playable at the event. Sometimes they installed fixes overnight (Wednesday and Thursday). I know we know this, but when I asked if they check GTPlanet he said "of course!". :)

 At least PD knew all the GT6 issues in physics, I am so relieved :) Now, there's only ABS and car data accuracy / stock setup which I hoped PD also knows, maybe they do if they visit GTP, they have to visit my garage, read all my complaints and why I have to build so many cars :mischievous::lol:

PD and GTP :gtpflag:

Because I know what this community wants to know more than anything else, I can confirm that yes, you can still drive flat out across the Willow infield and take off over the jump at the end of the ditch.

Is it the same single-file starts in any mode?

Can't speak for other modes, but all the races yesterday in Arcade mode were F1-style standing starts.

I caught Tom's slip during commentary when he referred to GT SPORT as GT Planet, there were so many members there I'm not surprised

I saw people talking to the PD team towards the end, was too nervous to speak to any of them especially not knowing who spoke English, so ended up chatting to the Japanese guy from Nissan at the Nissan VGT car (which looked absolutely stunning when lit up, even more so than beforehand). That guy deserves a 👍, he was really enjoying himself and happy to chat with attendees.

But I can honestly say, the happiest part of the day for me was being able to clap the PD team heartily on to the stage. In the end you don't normally get the opportunity to pass on appreciation for the hard work that goes on behind the scenes of things (whatever you think of the finished product, there's certainly plenty of sweat and grind going on) so it was a priviledge to be able to do that

Attached is my shot of the PD group photo at the end of the day. If I need to take it down for any reason, just let me know and i'll remove it straight away. PS I hope Translator-San isn't doing a "rabbit" at the back

**** - I forgot to check that out at Willow
I confirm what @Roo said about the standing starts.
You must have got some great shots yesterday on that camera of yours.

So, judging from the videos I've seen so far it looks like arcade mode doesn't have free practice or qualifying, no option to choose between standing/rolling start, race length by number of laps/time, enable damage & fuel/tyre wear, choose setup and fuel load/pitstop setup before starting a race, choose class/cars for AI opponents.
If that's how it works in the final game that would be really disappointing to me, it looks to be a game catered only towards casual players, people looking to do proper races offline will have to stick with PCars/AC.

After playing GT Sport on three occasions yesterday (once with a wheel, once on pad, and in one of the 16P head-to-head events) I would say that what we played was quite clearly a Prologue level game. Very few cars and tracks, and with only 50% completion, I was happy with it. The steering physics are somewhere between pCARS and GT6 in my opinion.

I'm uploading a condensed 40 minute coverage and review of the whole event right now.

You have to remember what we played yesterday was basically a demo. Most of the options were greyed out as in most demos. I wouldn't expect the final game to be the same. Wait till you see the full game then make a reasoned decision and play whatever suits your taste and needs in a game.

I heard they brought a lot of the young members of the team. Saw some vids from one of them :)
Could you elaborate on what he said? I'm always curious about these things.

Endurance races online ? :)

Does this confirm ToD cycle

I just wanted to reiterate this. It's pretty clear that they get a lot more criticism than praise, when most of what they do is so good if everyone would be honest about it.

This is why you ask in the ask threads. We got a Livery Editor in Sport when I honestly didn't expect it. ;)

Yeah Green hell 24hrs definitely means the time will change. But I hope it is there in others tracks too more than GT6 at least :(

So some people are lying about it? Which people?

No, it doesn't.

Johnny, I think possibly only three people here would have trouble decrypting just what I mean, and that's all I'll say further. ;)

Not necessarily. There's a specific layout that they use for the 24 hour race, that could be all it is.

I don't know if I'd get into trouble for saying so better not. :) He was the guy who created the replay/spectator view for the online races so we all praised him for that (I think it looks neat), but he didn't know exact details of some of the other features.
