Am I right in saying @SlipZtrEm hinted that there would be direct-feed footage coming to GTPlanet? I advise we don't judge sound and visuals too definitively until that happens...

Wow... you guys are sure talkative. :D

I'll be the first to say that, while I'd prefer the physics and feel to get a face lift to bring it more along the lines of Assetto Corsa and Race Room, I'll be content with polished up GT6 code. Hopping into that game last weekend felt very nice, comfy and familiar. Yes, the cars feel too safe and well planted on the road, something Forza addresses in street cars marvelously, but the communication between me and the car in GT6 is top notch, and it's close enough to a sim that I didn't feel the need to jump into RaceRoom for a more serious challenge. And GT6 felt different enough when it released that it's the first GT game I didn't give to an oil change to every newly purchased car, and still don't. It somehow feels even more authentic.

And remember, critics, a few more months of development time. When the Forza 4 demo came out, it felt the same as F2 and 3 to me. Just four weeks or so later when Forza 4 itself came out, it felt nicely updated.

By the way, I'd like to see some roof cam.

You are really riding the Community train, huh SlipZ?

...and you've just swapped your avatar to the reason I'm rewatching it, basically!

Yeah, I forgot how gold the early years of Community were. I haven't rewatched them since Season 3's premiere (I think I tapered off a few episodes into S4), but it's been good. Sam was a big proponent for The Office (and I've now seen the light), so I wanted to return the favour with this, especially because S2 of Kimmy Schmidt was so disappointing after not only The Office, but even S1.

I still get all happy hearing the opening credits song. :D

@Tenacious D I feel the same I would be very happy with a ported over GT6 (with improved graphics and photomode) I am impressed with GT6 so this will be amazing. One day there will be a game with full blown weather dynamics and stunning graphics of DriveClub, the immersion of Pcars and car count of Forza6. If I can play a mix of the first 3 of these on my T300 and all on PS4 rather than switching this is all I ask and I think it will deliver my needs comfortably. What else can you buy for £50 that will last months years of joy/daily use in this day and age when a meal/night out even 1 tank of fuel/gas costs that-In England anyhow:ill:?..(thought of the day):gtpflag::cheers:

Just a little question, can somebody explains to me the thing about different builds of the game? There are people claiming that the trailer used old builds, and that the game they were using was completely different, graphically speaking for example.
If that's true, does anyone have a source to make that kind of claim?

I don't know that we really need a source to come to that conclusion. It was pretty obvious. I think the biggest example was the footage at Nurb that showed flat trees in the distance. If you look at the gameplay from Thursday, the flat trees are still there in the distance, but now there are 3D trees between the track and the flat trees that hide them better. It is expected that the build with the 3D trees is a newer build than the build that did not have them. Building a trailer would take putting together a bunch of previously recorded footage, and they likely had to have the trailer finished a few days before the event to be signed off by management, so it makes sense the footage they were using would have been anywhere from a few days to a few weeks old. I think I saw claims by folks at the event that the build used for the Wednesday night qualifier was different from what they used Thursday.

Been playing for almost an hour, you are basically stuck using arcade mode on all 5 available tracks (two of which are brands hatch). Most of the menu system cannot be used in this version either. Sport mode is unavailable although it shows what you can do. I did however manage to turn off all assists, only issue I found was that I could only hear the cars as I passed them or if they came right up behind - I couldn't hear my own car so it was hard to adjust the gears as I like to hear the engine as to when I change gear etc. Everything looked smooth and yes it is only 16 cars on track but like I say you could only use ARCADE mode which to me represents nothing in my eyes.

Did you have a crash? If so hows the damage?

Damage!?, if there is it isn't in Arcade mode and I saw no option for it in the ltd options in this particular mode

Can you go to tuning options ? If so, is there tire pressure or caster listed ? :) Have you tried to launch hard from standing still and see if it shoot straight or you have to tame it ?

What car did you drive ? If the Miata, can you induce lift off oversteer mid corner ?

Nope, there are a few sections which are greyed out. I'm only guessing that the serious options are to be found in GT Sport Mode and not in the ltd Arcade mode. Also you have to tame it from a standing start, I found I was turning either left or right form a standing start which I quite like

Can someone please go to any Scene and try to move around (walk) in the place or around a car? :) that would be nice. Some shots of the menus would also be cool.

Are you sure about the 16 cars? In this video there are 20:

That would be incredibly dumb, ideally all options should be available in all game modes.
My main interest is practice and setting up custom races in arcade mode (similar to what I do in PCars' solo mode), if GTS doesn't have a good offline mode that lets me setup proper races offline then it's pretty much a no-buy for me.

How are the physics?

You are talking about PD, dumb is what they do.

Or maybe they have restricted options for the on floor build.

I only did a few laps around Brands Hatch Indy Circuit with Lotus Evora. Last time I played GT was probably like a year ago or so. Think it feels quite similar in FFB and handling to GT6 from what I remember, maybe a bit more evolved in all areas. It felt quite easy to push the car to near limit and also easy to control it when back end stepped out. Tyres and force feedback settings IIRC is the same as GT6. Hard to say really how good or bad physics might be at the moment due to so little running.

Sound I didn't hear much of, heard it better in the live stream yesterday. Seems there are promising signs in that department.

AI I didn't race against so don't really know about that, saw someone be faster quite easily than AI in race but not sure what difficulty setting it was on.

Graphics look quite good but there are some issues with it a bit like GT6. I wonder how much improvement they can make by full release if it's only at "50%" quality.

My Impressions:

First of all I have to thank @Jordan and the other forum staff for arranging the GTP tickets for this fantastic event. gtplanet has been my primary source of procrastination for the last 6/7 years and it is great to see how successfully it has grown. Oh, and cheers for the magnet!

Now for GT Sport:

Played various combinations, I'll list all the ones I can remember below;

MX-5 at Brands Indy (controller)
Golf GTI at the 'Ring
Renault Sport GT3 at Willow
F-Type GT3 at Willow
MX-5 Gr N200 at Tokyo
Alpine VGT at Brands
MX-5 at the 'Ring (on CM tyres with all assists off - great fun!)

AI:

Used 50/50 Intermediate/Professional, the former were pretty easy to beat, rather like the GT6 AI. The latter however were significantly faster, and pretty hard to beat, you would easily end up well down the pack after one 'off' and struggle to make it back up the field. In terms of intelligence I noticed a few incidences of them making their own mistakes, plus they seemed to follow the racing line less religiously than I remember from previous games. I still had a few cases of blindly being punted off by a car that had not realised that I was there though.

Graphics:

The Cars were stunning, honestly the best models I have seen in any current gen racer. Yes a couple (SLS GT3) had some small tessellation issues around the arches in certain scenes but on the whole I was seriously impressed. I did not expect such a large leap in quality from PS3-4. As for tracks, Brands, Willow and Tokyo looked like fair improvement to GT6, although some lighting a scenery tweaking is needed for them to really look complete. The 'Ring was more of a mixture, there are some proper ruts in the grass now which looks great, but something about the rest of the grass didn't look quite 'right'. I also suffered some frame rate drops and flickering of the scenery which was quite noticeable.

Physics:

Seem like a fair improvement on what was already a good base. The cars seemed to move around more naturally in response to acceleration or cornering which was good to see. The collision physics were bad considering the type of game although Kaz did mention that they plan to implement a damage model in the Q+A. Driving the MX-5 with all assists off was excellent fun, I did not expect a 130bhp car to be as enjoyable as that was which is promising for the game as it means the lower powered cars can be properly enjoyed. The racing MX-5 behaved unusually on the Tokyo track, and I found myself sliding around like the people in the stream, could be a bug on just an unusual set up on the car. Braking and Steering assist are now an option (so you presumably literally have to mash the throttle in order to go round a track, trying to add appeal to a casual audience?).

Sounds:

Experienced a few knackered pairs of headphones so can't be 100% certain with my points. On the whole they seemed like a fair improvement. Best comparison I can do is for the Golf GTI, since my old man has an 'R' of the same generation and I would say the sound is very close to how the real car sounds when its cabin resonator/speaker thing is switched off. The MX-5 sounded reasonably sporty, and the difference in volume from bumper/cockpit view and chase cam seemed more apparent than in previous games. The F-Type sounded very good too. The tyre squeal is a bit overpowering although it is not as bad in practice than it is in the videos shown on here.

Finally, whilst I was somewhat cynical at first, now I have seen and tried out the game I firmly believe that the whole 'E-Sports' idea behind the game could be a really successful one. Competed in one of the network races on the main stage with a variety of people, and it was a very fun experience, even if I did get pushed wide on the last corner of Willow and lose 5 places...

Don't want to make this post too long so I'll leave it there, if anyone wants to know anything else then please ask! :)

Thank you for taking the time to write your impressions. Loved it.
I'd like to ask you, compared to Forza's version of the Nurburgring, would you say that this actual version can... Well, be as good in that game?
Also, did you notice any particular details in the sounds that weren't there in, say, GT6?

Thank you.
