GT Sport Penalty System Under Fire Again as Official FIA Season Begins

And also AC is not controller friendly at all which is the biggest advantage for GT when it comes to console IMO.

Will ACC be controller friendly, or am I getting my hopes up for nothing :)

The letdown of last weeks kart race have completely sapped my will to even try the GR.3 DT:Seaside event today. This must be the first Saturday since GTS came out that I didn't get bothered by the daily workout bonus

Maybe they're fixing everything. Maintenance is from now to 6pm.

Guess it'll be :

- Server maintenance
- update FIA to "Exhibition" status
- adjust penalties again
- apologise for the inconvenience

Yeah but tons of all FREE updates, physics/tire model upgrades/added cars and tracks FREE, great livery editor...
Constantly trying to make people happy with pen system when at release when it was almost perfect, giving free trips around the world to the best players,
But there’s a definite sense of entitlement from many players and continuous stream of negativity towards the developers from a group of folks who lets be honest are not capable of producing a gaming experience like this...
Just sayin, there’s a lot of good and not sure PD totally deserves hate.

The way this forum operates whenever Polyphony is criticized even mildly (and this time deservedly) by bringing up 'fReE uPdAtEs' like it's some sort of Yu-gi-oh trap card really is on thin ice, and tiring.

The penalty system is crap. It has been crap for a good chunk of time now - and the idea that it needed a very popular streamer, at an official event, to get a horse**** penalty, and subsequently get negative press on a site with the series' name placed upon it, is absolutely appalling. It also goes hand in hand with how Polyphony operates in terms of communication with the wider community, and also is part and parcel with how these free updates are announced.

We get it, free updates are nice. That doesn't say anything about literally anything else Polyphony does in terms of community engagement, which can be considered lackluster at absolute best in many categories that isn't pushing out free updates in order to fatten up a game that was lacking in content from the beginning, and only because their lack of communication and cavalier attitudes put their relationship with a not insignificant portion of the fanbase on rocky ground.

It just seems that they are not placing enough resources towards making it functional in blame assignment.
I think they need to stop tweaking how hard a hit is to trigger a pen or if a car goes off pen the other car.
As others have pointed out functional blame assignment may be impossible.
I see no way to make things fair except the simplest thing possible...
Contact? Sr down / pen to both
Contact plus car off big pen to both
Shared fault worked at s sr.
Right now the game is a destruction derby joke.
Clean lobbies are now less common FIA is worse than dailies. I’ve decided I will play by the rules. Anything not penalized is legal. Lotta people gonna be pissed but if there’s no foul there’s no foul.

6pm? That’s about 18 hours of maintenance

Where did you see this information about the maintenance?

Servers are up.

I wish there was more Gt streamers, I love SuperGt but am getting tired of Kie and his immature rants that again makes me wish there was more str....

Any recommendations ?

There’s a few other guys who stream, LionFace, VVise, Aka Gi, GeauGreddy just to name a few. :)

I also stream all my FIA races but I don’t turn the mic on.

I've said before, I think lots of things would be much simpler if the PSN rule against exploiting unintended behaviour didn't exist, and this principle was officially how everyone is supposed to play the game. It's having a mismatch where there are some largely unenforced rules that people are supposed to speculate exist, and follow them, whereas others assume different rules, that causes all the problems. At the moment, you risk being banned for doing what you're doing, but they appear to only take this action for a tiny proportion of people.

Yeah, I've been watching SuperGT on Youtube. I was also watching another dude till he gave up on GTSport stupidly bad penalties.

Did some races in my normal and alt accounts. Could be the players I'm racing, haven't had any issues with the penalties.

Did have a battle with a WRX in Race B. I was using the Mustang and could have overtaken it several times during one of the laps. I chose to be patient.
My opportunity came when the WRX went too quick at one of the esses.
As it backed off, I backed off, to let it recover.
Then, didn't harrass it for the remainder of the lap. Got to pass it at the bowl hairpin. It was gaining on me, but didn't force a pass for much of the lap. At that time, an R8 goes off before the penalty zone. We pass it.
On the following lap, the WRX is going to pass me at the pointy downhill before the penalty zone. As I give it room, the R8 behind us, slams into me by misjudging the apex. I don't go off, but no penalty for either of us.

I feel, as long as drivers adhere to good race craft, the racing sorts itself out. Some players can learn to respect one another, when focusing on racing rather than one upping or winning.

I'm not getting my hopes up, I had a terrible experience with Assetto Corsa when I played it a few years ago. I won't buy the new one.

(...) iRacing has a great penalty system (...)
I was not about that it is not possible. I was about that it is a different target group. iRacing's ~100.000 active users vs GTS' some million. Very few racers, a lot of gamers. In general, gamers are not racers. They are not capable of. Regardless of what we call the title, what the marketing-bs-generator 'tells' us and thus how we like to overrate ourselves. So the 'racing environment' has to be simplified. With the handling, the rules, the whole system. (But not the way PD keeps on tinkering with its penalty system - this is my opinion.)

And this is the biggest guilt of all this issue:
I’ve decided I will play by the rules. Anything not penalized is legal. Lotta people gonna be pissed but if there’s no foul there’s no foul.
I'm not the one to judge anybody, but learning this is not good. Teaching this to the millions of playing kids is sad, if you watch outside of the screen and see a bigger picture.
If an actual circumstance is overriding the general human behaviour and common sense...

I'm starting to take this game not too seriously...PD isn't taking it seriously either.

Last FIA race last night, fighting for the lead, bumper to bumper with an Alfa, racing millimeters from each other but respectfully. To be honest I had a feeling that he was slightly brake checking me all the time braking middle corner but ok, fair enough. Then, the slightest of the slightest touches happens, literally nothing, no one lost or gained anything because it was like summer breeze. There, I got slammed with a 3 second penalty and the game didn't even bother to explain (write why under the penalty) why i got penalised. Are you kidding me. The best thing? Started the race A+ S (99S), got downgraded to A+ A (77S). So, is it Corona also in the game cause it seems like we can race but don't come into my safe space or i will slam you down with penalties and quarantine in a lower rank.
Just LOL.

And why are the points greyed out?

Only your best results count towards your points total. At the moment (for some reason), it's your best one race from the first two (and then three) rounds - it literally says this on the screen. This will change as more races take place.

English is not my first language so i had difficulties understanding. So to clarify, just one race of all the races planned until April counts?

No. It will, eventually, be your best two (or possibly three, I don't know how PD will round it) results. It also says that on the screen in-game:

Edit: Yep, apparently it'll be your best three. I guess originally it would have been your best three in each of the four stages to qualify for the WT events, but your best ten from the 40 to qualify for the WF.
