In 5 years time we will be watching teaser segments of these 8K models buzzing around the nurgurgring in some unreleased showcase build, and hearing all about the monumental task of building the new GT universe!

What this means is that come October we will have the game.
November or December when Playstation will announce PS5 for Fall of 2018, and then we do all this over again.

If true I will throw my Playstation out the 🤬 window! I'm not going to waste my 🤬 money on a new 🤬 console every 🤬 few years.

Again with this? In a time when almost every car game looks fantastic, this statement holds no value.
I feel the same 'Again with this?' statement, but that 'almost every car game looks fantastic', that's your opinion.

Its a statement that is shared between many, many people. I haven't found an ugly game this generation that is set to come out soon. They all look damn beautiful, even NFS Payback, but thats something to be weary of. I can't wrap my head around why anyone would disagree.

I think the online aspect will be better suited for me in gt. But Kaz and his lies (at a certain point one can not keep pretending this is a communication error or that Kaz really believes what he says) are actually making me doubt. Does a company that willfully lies to it's customers deserve our funds?

I'm kind of hoping this is the last straw and gt falls of it's pedestal. This way players migrate to an other sim.
Because the only reason gts will have a better online system is due to the sheer numbers playing it and they do not deserve that just due to their public actions.

Sorry for the salt. I got a ps4 last christmass and was so excited to get a gt since gt4. To then find out a few years in ps4 life cycle still no gt. To then come to this forum and read statements Kaz makes left me confused. Very confused and torn by both ideas of buying and not buying.

I was seriously considering getting GTS despite my reservations about the actual game, but this just reminded me of the rollercoaster of bullshot that was GT6 and the futureproof nonsense back then that seems to have had zero benifit/involvement in this current title.
I seriously think Kaz is some sort of hyper-perfectionist living in a bubble at PD and not enough in practical reality. It's just such a shame because there is so much to like about GT games but also so much disappointment and wasted potential, it's like a dysfunctional relationship to be a (buying) fan of this series lol.

Oh, same old PD. Cant keep to a schedule, making promises they cant deliver and outright lying to their base. Wasnt GT5 and GT6 premiums too good for the PS3? were are they now? Instead we get a game with stripped down content only so they can make another game this GEN with more content and charge for it. Canceled my pre-order until i know what the heck it is am getting.

I'm going to buy Project Cars 2 first and wait for people to review GTS and if its as bad as I think then I will not buy it. Or maybe I should just buy the xbox and get project cars 2 and Forza.

It's expected though. With higher graphical power, people have higher expectations. And with diminishing returns, the gap and differences get subtler.

Why is it expected? Those expectations are being hit by all these games coming out, to be honest. The only reason I can see someone disagreeing with it is because they favor one game so much that they unreasonably deduce that anything other than that game is bad. It's a statement that doesn't make any sense, considering how pretty much every game is bringing their own level of beauty, and doing it exceptionally well.

You always have a benchmark to compare too. Take Fallout 4 for example. It's a huge step up from Fallout 3 and has pretty exceptional lighting. So in a vacuum it would've been considered a good looking game. But there are games like TW3 and HZD out there -- and comparing it to them gets it labeled as ugly a lot of the time.

Yeah, but the level of graphical quality when specifically talking about these few racing games, the only ones I've been talking about, is through the roof right now. All of them are outright beautiful so it still doesn't make much sense to bring in a comparison of game that is comparably awful in comparison to the latter two that you stated.

It's the same ol' about how if one game looks slightly better, than the rest look like crap. It's a statement I'll never understand. Of the three main titles coming out in these next few months, I can not understand how anyone would say that as a truthful statement. Currently of the three, it's hard to say which is leading the pack when you focus on the grand picture, not just one specific area.

Yamauchi is a straight on liar. He said the same thing last time round+ many more things that we never saw.
Another waste of time looking on the car and track list nothing more than that.

He said CAD models from manufacturers have more detail so no - GT on next PlayStation will have 40 cars because you can use even more polygons or some new tech will render the models obsolete etc etc etc.

Cycle never ends

But I get it - this is what they have - "PD attention to detail" so they HAVE to ride it.

Nah. you get 170 cars and not 700+ for a reason.

Like it or hate it (I hate it because I love variety) they future proofed the quality of there cars they are offering. Quality over quantity. The car models are designed to be utilized for the next gen of consoles.

That reason is outsourcing and the cars in Forza 7 are in 95% as good as those in GTS.

From what I saw there's barely any difference PLUS you can open the cars and see the engine.

Yeah, and it's the same reason they state at the end of every cycle. "They are future proof, we'll use them for the next X amount of years."

It's already a proven fact that Forza is modeling more, as that's the game you're talking about when you label 700. The difference between the modeling is not worth the difference in time, to be honest, as the former is relatively a small difference and the latter is a huge difference. The difference in these games isn't the modeling, it's the lighting, materials, and textures that PD nails.

I'd rather take 400+ new cars in 4 years with all the bells and whistles, fully modeled engine bays and compartments, with a slightly, very slightly lower modeling than 150+ cars that are actually lacking when you look at what the game you mention is actually modeling. They need to learn to balance time and output, in my opinion, if they ever want to reach the goal they have set out themselves.

Huh? Why are you bringing up Forza lol.
Because there is literally only one game that is doing 700+. It is extremely obvious what you were getting at.

You forum goers are funny. I was in no way defending GT. I'm as disappointed as all of you are, I simply stated they over modeled the vehicles to utilize in the next game they create, maybe in hopes of not pushing back their next game 2 years. Geeze, I am reminded why I don't involve myself in forums anymore.

Edit* I guess you missed what i wrote in brackets?

But they didn't do that. The only thing they have done so far is spent more time on asset creation than they are actually able to utilize (even though they also could have gone back and improve their assets as needed later) in the face of a dramatic quantity shortage and no dramatic quality advantage; and they merely hope (or at least have justified to themselves) that that will give them a jumping off point for the next time they make a game.

It didn't when they included models in the PS2 era that were higher quality then the PS2 could actually use in a race, because they never used any of them (save a few) on the PS3 even though they had no qualms of just dumping them all on the PS3 in their inferior form regardless. Kaz said similar things then about those higher quality car assets (though I haven't been able to dig up that interview in a long while).
It didn't when they designed models for the PS3 era that were loaded with frivolous detailing even though they were cut down for use on the PS3, because not only have they allegedly thrown them all out but possibly were forced to. And Kaz said things for the Premium cars that were almost identical to what he is saying in this case; and some of those assets were undoubtedly made while GT Sport was also in development.

Not until the PS5 or whatever comes out with this next generation game with a baseline being the cars in GT Sport have they actually future proofed anything.

The models look incredible but on PS5 we will probably hear PD say how they decided to build them from scratch to ensure the detail is unmatched.

Hopefully the same old LMP1 cars won't be used.
:D

The examples of text on tyres and headlight fittings is very funny. I recall exactly these sorts of details shown off on GT5 Prologue car models back in 2007.

(Tried to find the comparison shots from back then, failed so far)
