So is this in place of Gran Turismo 7? It looks more like a (very good, mind you) spinoff.

Seems like it, no confirmation yet.

FIA sponsorship seems to be... for prize-giving purposes? Definitely reads as more of a benefit for FIA, looking to be more relevant for the younger generation.

I can't see this being Gran Turismo 7.

What they've done here is reminiscent of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. For those who remember, the title was released before Gran Turismo 5 and featured a selection of cars and showcased the new physics of the full game whilst it was still in development, demonstrating their product on the new hardware and building hype in the process.

Seemingly this is what is happening here.

I'm very excited for it.
