GT Sport World Tour 2020 Sydney

Audi TT Cup is a FWD race car in the real world.
Yep.

But weren't the TT cup cars a one make series and not a gt-gr 3 or4 class based car?

The Audi Sport TT Cup was a one-make super car racing series by Audi based in Germany first held in 2015. Audi Sport TT Cup cars based on the Audi TT.[1] It was a support series for the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, replacing the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup. For the 2018 season, Abt Sportsline was scheduled to take over the organization of the championship however due to lack of entries, Audi Sport Abt TT Cup were cancelled.

Correct. They also had a DRS system that is absent from the game.

TBF, there is a legitimate argument for the lack of proper classed cars. There are cars in both Gr.3 and Gr.4 that don't belong and should be replaced by cars that actually fit in the categories. Also an argument to be made for existing cars being replaced by updated cars. It's what PD should be doing, especially with eSports interests, but none of us will ever know why that hasn't been the case.

Actually I do not see why PD does not "convert" the Audi to rear wheel drive like the real world race cars.

No reason at all for the Audi to have ff drive in the game.

The TT Cup is a real, FWD, GT4-homologated race car.

Is it GT4 homologated? They were all RWD as far as I knew.

It was allowed to race in TCR temporarily before the Golf was ready for Engstler but I didn't know it had raced anywhere else outside of the TT series (VLN or N24 perhaps?).

Audi’s current GT4 car is the R8.

When GT Sport was in development, and the car list finalised, the GT4 category was struggling. There where only a handful of true GT4 cars with many others being converted single-make models.

As of today GT4 is very strong. So I expect GTS/GT7 to a get whole host of new GT4 models. None of which will likely be FWD.

GT4 has to maintain factory drivetrains.

And this is just one of the reasons that GTS will never be considered a proper e-sport racing sim and will continue to be considered at best a simcade as compared to other titles on the market as long as they mix fantasy with reality within the racing car classes.

In what series did they race it? I am not aware of all the series overseas from the U.S. and their rules but mainly just the more mainstream stuff and I was under the assumption that the gt- gr 3 and 4 classed cars were all RWD.

None. In fact the only time it ever saw a race circuit in GT4 was the SRO's GT4 Balance of Performance test day at Le Castellet (Paul Ricard), on February 29 2016.

I know we probably won't get a new track reveal in a few hours, since Jordan said to expect just a little something, but I simply need to make this comparison. I must say it hurt a little bit when I saw the Sydney Harbour Bridge yesterday because of this.

The origin of the car doesn’t really impact the legitimacy of the racing as an Esport.

But as mentioned earlier. Many of the fantasy cars, or ‘misfits’, like the TT. Where included because the GTE/GT3 & GT4 classes where not as well developed or diverse as they are today.

Ford now has a real world GTE and Mustang GT4. Chevy has the C8.R and Camaro GT4. Bentley could replace Bugatti from the VAG Group.

The only oddballs are brands like Renault, Peugeot & Hyundai who don’t really produce GT’s. So maybe they can be dropped from Gr.3 & Gr.4 and be part of a new TCR class.

You learn something new every day. I always assumed GT4 was RWD only since all the popular cars at the moment are, I was surprised to find out FWD cars used to race in JGTC.

The TT would fit better into GTS if they put it in a new class of its own then added about 10 TCR cars to make up the numbers, the tyre wear is not really compatible with the other Gr.4's at the moment.

Then it should be replaced!

People getting salty over the Lexus pass. Again, history shows its a classic move. Contact happens.

Had Whincup not run out of fuel immediately afterwards I'm sure there would've been calls for Mostert to be penalised in much the same way there are calls to penalise TsuTsu now. There's clear illegal bumper-to-bumper contact pushing Whincup off the line.

The 2019 move is how you should pass at Forest Elbow if you must pass at all. Though I will argue to this day that said Porsche should've been penalised earlier for Campbell's move on Mostert into the Chase earlier in the hour.

In any case, TsuTsu's move on Tidge was a more egregious divebomb than both of these examples.

Are you for real PD? Continuing to go backwards with older cars instead of proper generation upgrades in the modern. Good job. Are they gonna fill out the GT1 field too? Provide a last gen Corvette, Porsche, Audi, McLaren, Lamborghini, etc?

The origin of the car doesn’t really impact the legitimacy of the racing as an Esport.

It does if you are trying to promote and pass off the finished product as an actual SIMULATION of real world race classes and racing. Trying to use the FIA branding to legitimize the product as being endorsed as something recognized and backed by a real world racing org. should require adhering to real world car classes and rules.

FIA would be better off backing ACC as far as reality is concerned. ACC is rumored to be adding the gr4 car class in the future which stays within the real world paremeters of what is is attempting to simulate both with the cars and the real world circuits raced.
If you are trying to promote your product as an online racing game that has championships then mismatched classes and fantasy non existent futuristic cars racing or anything else for that matter is fine.

It's not a new car but the DBR9 is just about old enough to be considered a legend now. I look forward to it being added but hope it's not added to Gr3, atm it can only fit Gr.X.

Many of the new GTE cars have been scanned. We’ll have to see when they arrive.

Pace wise the DBR9 is very close to a current GTE/GT3.

I already said a little birdie told me we'll be getting them this summer but I was shot down like another crazy rumor starter. I heard from someone who was in PD HQ during the Tokyo World Tour event. We're definitely getting GTE cars sometime in 2020. Maybe early 2021.

We obviously want more race cars but if you're gonna add something from the past maybe don't make it something nearly identical to what we already have? A Porsche 911 GT3 cup car would be great since it's actually rear engine unlike the 911 RSR.

You know it's gonna be Gr.3 and give Aston Martin fans an option between this and the Vantage.
I'm fully expecting it but I think it would be more fun to drive it without the BoP to match it to the new cars. We saw it with the McLaren F1 (I know that is built to a different set of GT1 regs) the BOP made it dominant at some tracks and useless elsewhere. Gr.X would mean it can show up as a one make in daily races.

E- I'm sorry for moaning about something before it happens, I hate people like me!

I like to point out that a DBR9 did run in 3 races during the 2009 Super GT season as a GT500 entry.

Hopefully PD puts it in the Gr.2 class to go along with the '08 cars in that class.

The FWD Audi TT Cup is not homologated for SRO GT4 specification.

There was a previous generation, RWD Audi TT developed by Jorg van Ommen Motorsport in 2008 that was homologated (GT4-010) but it never took off. The only other Audi currently homologated by the SRO for GT4 is the current R8 LMS GT4 (GT4-038).

All SRO GT4 cars are required to be RWD.

On the other hand, we do have the Audi TT RS which was developed for the VLN SP4T category, a class that allows SRO GT4 cars to compete, but also allows non-homologated cars to enter. This car is FWD, but it is not based on the TT Cup car. This is not the car featured in Gran Turismo Sport.

The Audi TT Cup in Gran Turismo Sport is not a GT4 car, it has simply been stuck in the Gr.4 category for convenience, and it was equivalent to the Scirocco Cup car that was also in game (yet also not a GT4 car)

Oddly, the DBR9 raced in Super GT GT500 in 2009. We have 2008 and 2016 Super GT cars in Gr.2...

Edit: Yes, like @Panoz just said. It's late, I've been up too long because World Tour writing.
