GT Sport's Next Update Arrives April 23

i was watching tidneys stream the other night. he seems to know what cars and what tracks are coming somehow. he said a single car pack also coming soon, and tracks that we havnt seen before
Wasn’t he the guy that “confirmed” that Spa was coming first quarter of this year? If it was then I think his credibility is somewhat tarnished for GT Sport info.

For all we know the track could very well be on its way to the game already, but then the licensing agreement PD had with the racetrack managers fell through and now it's on limbo.

I think everyone knows that Spa GT Sport edition is already done and dusted.

Its just sitting on their server waitng for Kaz to 'flip the switch' Lord Nelson style once the negotiations with the Belgian authorities are signed.

Just to clarify, it isn't "based on" the Rothmans livery per se.

It is the Rothmans livery, just with the 'Racing' logo retrofitted to comply with tobacco advertising laws in the country where it competed at that time. Sometimes this is done long after race cars are retired from competition, so that teams can use it as a show car without worrying about potential law suits or further censorship.

In any case I can nearly 100% guarantee that you will not see the word 'Rothmans' on the car in-game. It is for the same reason that you don't see the words 'Silk Cut' emblazoned on the Jaguar XJR-9 in-game.
I was thinking that. Is that a censorship livery just like the strobe XJR-9 as I expected?

Short answer: Yes.

Longer answer:

Tobacco advertising was banned or at least restricted in some countries in the 1980s, but it was not as widespread and stringent as it is now.

That particular car exists in real life with the 'Racing' decals instead of 'Rothmans' due to tobacco advertising laws. These decals were either:

1. Added at the time it raced (due to laws in some countries where the car raced at the time) and the car has been preserved in that state ever since; or;
2. These were simply retrofitted after it was retired from competition to comply with the much more stringent laws that exist today.

I don't know exactly but I think option #2 is much more likely. But we don't even know which particular 962C was scanned for GT Sport so it might not be relevant.

On the other hand (unless I am much mistaken), the XJR-9 that is in game is modelled on the 1988 Le Mans winning #2 car, which still has the Silk Cut livery, so the barcode would have been added post-production.

I've been using GTP for about 5 years I've registered today (for future use) must mostly to say, what a dissapionting update. I know the AE86 has a big fan base but for me it's Audi. I've been mentioning new Audis since the games release, and what do they had a 16 year old Audi TT that I think has been in almost every other GT - absolutely nothing new here. What about a basic Audi A3 2011? A3 Sport 2014, S3 2012, RS3 2016, R8 Spyder, A4 2018, dissapionting. Same with the Honda fit and Renault Gordini... Yes everything is free am Im truly grateful for this and commended them imensley but maybe they need to change their business model to give players actually new cars. Forza Horizon 4 wipes the floor with this car list. Whilst I'm on the subject and having a little rant, sport mode races. PD are using repeats and then players are using 1 op car. Same in multiplayer N200 4C N400 911.. Starting to feel like I'm playing a demo or prologue.

Rant over.

Keep the racing clean people and give room.

This is a good thing for me because I'd be able to properly recreate this car:

I think it's this type of rear spoiler. In the silhouette you can see the split across the spoiler itself. Shame i'd much prefer the other styles. I could be wrong though.

But I did make the leyton house livery for the Sauber. So I can fix that at least.

Edit: It's good to be wrong.

This is one thing I definitely have to disagree with.

Since release GT Sport has had 113 Cars added all in FREE updates.

3 have been duplicate cars

82 have been from a previous GT games

28 are new to the series

Meanwhile Forza Horizon 4 has had 112 Cars added as either seasonal rewards or PAID DLC

18 have been duplicates

17 have been tuned variants of regular cars

35 have been from a previous Forza game

42 are new to the series

Sure Forza has less cars from a previous game and more new additions, but it also has 6 TIMES more duplicates than GTS does, and that’s with all of GTS’ cars being completely free. And that’s not even taking into account cars that are essentially just tuned up versions of cars already in the game.

Daily Race C hards, meds, inters and wets are available for tyre selection. I’m unaware if this has occurred before this week?

If it hasn’t, could it be a hint at getting rain in the update?

I'm not even changing that 962 livery.

Mud flaps on the Hachi-Roku. Arrgh! THe tyrs are going to be really far in when it's lowered and with plus 1 wheels, because those sidewalls need to be replaced.

Any renders of the TT and the Gordini ?

Very happy to see the 962 in his "Racing" livery, but they said the car is the 1988 version. Sure it's just the last evolution of the works cars before Joest became the works team and make their own evolutions between 1989 and 1991. The turbo boost was improved and Bosch made a better electronic fuel injection after the flaws of 1987, if i remember correctly.
