GT Sport's Next Update Arrives January 9

PD= Polyphony Digital
Yes, we know. However @DesertPenguin was making a joke because you didn't type PD. You typed DP - which could be short for Desert Penguin.
One thing comes to attention:
If it's a server maintenance, then it would be a simple fix.
but as it contains an update it is possible that DP is coding some command to first ADJUST and then ACTIVATE.

I know another two words DP could stand for but don't know if it's safe to write them here. I don't want another warning (got 2 already). :lol:
A classic Nickelodeon cartoon from 2000s suddenly came into my mind. :D

You know something is horribly wrong when a game takes longer to update than it does to actually install
Hahaha! It's becoming a norm that the update takes way longer and forever.

This update kind of wrecked the livery download for me. I've been getting livery data download error numerous times, despite my PS4 sitting literally next to the network router with no internet connection issues.

so what have they done? weekly race gr3 autodrome lago maggiore , the turn after long straight, guy rammed me off the track , didnt bother breaking , lost pos and he never got a penalty ???

Yep. It seems that they turned off collision penalties. You can push or get pushed with no penalty now. Expect more of this...

I read somewhere that PS updates take so long because they're basically reinstalling the game with the new code put into it.

So, your PS4 has downloaded the update file for, say, Gran Turismo (116GB) It then needs to install it, and it does this by basically copying the whole game file, and adds the patch in the process. Long story short, this process helps to prevent file corruption, but take lot of time. Bigger game = more time.

So, beside Duck Pics, what's new in this version? Only thing I've noticed is that ppl can trash you more without getting penalties. Was used as a berm twice in race 2 and I went of and spun w/o other guy getting any penalty. Once I got one though when someone passed me and turned in infront too early.
