GT2 freezes when i use three Corvettes and two Camaros

There's a possibility you have an early edition of GT2. Versions 1.0 and 1.1 came out starting in December of 99 and Feburary of 2000 and have massive bugs. Some racers reported freezes during races and black screens in between menu changes. I myself got 1.0 from some d!ckwad on eBay...I remember several times during certain races, the game would freeze. I'd start if over, and it would freeze again.

Does your game feature a carwash that says it costs 5000 credits but really costs 50? When you enter the 2nd Tahiti Maze rally, does the Peugeot 206 turn into a wall and get stuck? These are both features of 1.0 and 1.1. Another question is, are you using a gameshark?

Any specific track? Or just in general?

You've been struck by the garage thief. It's an unusual glitch in GT2 that happens to some of us who use the machine tests. If you get over 8 records in one of the tests, somehow it sometimes starts to screw up game data and your records will be replaced by “Mazda A-Spec 666 mph 0.0” or something...a bunch of gibberish, basically. And in the garage, it'll say No Name No Name. Sometimes, it'll put a mystery car in your garage, too, but you won't be able to drive it normally. Some mystery cars have an insane amount of power yet weight 0 pounds but if you try to race them, they won't move or they'll only go in reverse. Some people have reported that they've been able to get the mystery to go very fast, yet they can't race it against other cars.

Eventually, your entire garage will be erased. If that hasn't happened yet, I advise you stop using the tests. One of my memory cards has all the machine test records messed up, but the garage itself is okay.

What should i do?! Well, the "garage theif" hasn't struck me yet...

Like Toronado said, don't do any more tests. I'm not sure if you were or not, but from now on, testing is a no-no. If you haven't been testing, don't worry about it...the thief only strikes those who test repeatedly for some reason.

As I was saying, I have several memory cards and one of them has the records all screwed up. One day I happened to notice the top car in that garage had several thousand horsepower and I sold it immediately. Since then, I haven't seen any more problems on this card even tho the records are still saying Mazda A Spec 666.66 mph and stuff.

As for the freezing...you didn't answer my question about the carwash. If you've got a version 1.0 or 1.1 of GT2, there's nothing you can do about the screen freezes. Just buy a new or used copy of the GT2 Greatest Hits. This is version 1.2 and it shouldn't freeze...Polyphony apparently took care of that problem.

Man, that sux. I don't know what to tell you, colton. Sounds like a one of a kind glitch to me. :(

I would say you have a scratch on the disc that is stopping the PS2 from reading that part of the disc where those cars are stored.
Similar thing on my GT3 disc. Big scratch stops the PS2 from reading cars in Arcade mode.
