the time shown for the post which reads "test" is 10:09 a.m. US eastern time, use that to figure out an entry expiration date.

Me and ZeroCool85 are in the same time zone.

:( Actually, I've changed my mind !!

This Corvette vs. Skyline thing seems a bit uneven. Already at the startup screen, you can see that the Corvette has got more HP than the Skyline, plus it's lighter too.

When I tried the cars on the tranck, it just comfirmed what I had suspected.
Not a very even match if you want my opinion, so count me out.

But thanks to axletramp and talentless for their little guide. :) I'm sure we will meet in a challenge soon. :D

I hope that the Skyline people can give me a pleasant surprise 😈

Did a few laps with the Corvette last night. Best time was 1:46.528. Should be able to knock quite a bit off that though. May try the challenge itself tonight.

Yep, Vette's gonna walk this... :Pessimist I'm pulling low 1:49's in the R34 at the moment and will bring that down, but the weight/understeer is a real problem when you can't adjust anything. Poo! :(

The good thing about the 'Vette is that you can use the fact that it will power oversteer to steer it around the hairpins. All being said though, it isn't a particularly fair fight.

Having trouble on this narrow track with the R34's reluctance to turn. Just as an experiment I ran my stock 400R and in 2 laps I hit 1:44.664 without any too many problems... :)

Z06 vs 400R might be a better match, although that could be too far in the Skyline's favour this time.

Just gonna have to keep bangin' away with the R34... :banghead:

I am completely sorry for this advantage of the Vette here, I just went to arcade mode and randomly picked a track (scrolled and stopped) unfortunatly that track was monaco, but if the vette's win we'll still run the final round if anyone is still interested in doing this.

how about just splitting it? vette v. vette, sky v. sky

That'll work, good idea man. Allright vette vs vette, skyline vs skyline times now due Monday the 4th.

Yeah, it's one of my favourite tracks these days, but a bugger to get right! I did some test laps last night in my R34 and started to run pretty(ish) clean - not easy over 3 laps! :( Still, ended up bringing my lap times down by about 3-4 secs in quite a short session...

...to be continued. ;)

PS. Cote D'Azur is the stretch of coastline Monaco sits on. Is there some licensing problems with using the 'Monaco' name outside of F1? So possibly is there a similar problem with 'Monte Carlo' and rallying therefore PD had to use Cote D'Azur?

What's next? Tarmacland?

Nah, I think EA Sports have that one with 'Schoolbus Championships 2002'! :D

I ran a few practice laps last night on Free Run in the Z06. I was really surprised - I was able to improve my lap times significantly. :) The Z06 is a little tricky in those low speed corners. You must play nicely with the throttle or you'll be all over the place.

Just for fun I also ran a few laps with an Integra Type R. The handling was pretty clean, if not quite as well balanced and stable as the Z06 overall. You could feel the difference in the weight of the cars. Subjectively speaking, I preferred the "feel" of the R, even if it wasn't quite as good as the Z06. The real letdown was the power. The ol' Teg felt a little sleepy next to the raging Chevy small block. :burnout:

But for best results, get yourself an RX-7 RZ. It's not quite as "gutsy" as the Chevy, but it has more than enough juice to get the job done. Plus it's lighter and much cleaner handling. The Z06 felt a little floppy in comparison!

And then there's that lovely, raspy rotary...

i'm a bit disappointed sofar since i seem to be slower than I would like to be compared to Axle's time, but there are lines i can test out.

how are you fairing, Zero?

Nope. I got mine from somewhere in Sim Mode (hate to be so inexact, I can't remember what particular race I won it from). Its pretty nice, mostly a dark blue mixed with a little dark green. Goes great with some Yokohamas I got for it :D

Haven't managed to get any quicker. :( I must have peaked early...

I thought these races were to settle a dispute as to which car is superior, instead of being a person to person challenge where someone won.

I suggest everyone just does this race and then we determine the results at the end, instead of already scheduling different match ups and saying one car has an advantage.

Also, as a thought, if one car keeps "having the advantage", than cant we just say that that car might be better?

Also why arent we using the free-run mode? I cant stand the AI. If you say to use the racing mode against other ppl, i will. but it just seems an odd choice.

Anyway, im going to give this race a try. I'll try both cars and see what my best is, then ill submit those. Although im pretty sure Z06 will take this one.

Risingson: you should also try the NSX, that is my favorite for the monaco course. Its tight handling and smooth harmonious VTEC engine is great for negotiating all of those slow hairpins. I love all of the accelerating i can do with it from the slow turns upon exit.

Heh - funny you should mention that. I tried the Castrol Mugen NSX the other night. Let's just say the Z06 (as good as it is) felt like an old tugboat in comparison. :D

I think the 3 lap race is a good idea. It simulates running against competing cars, and makes adds the challenge of trying for a good overall time, not just one lap.

...and welcome to the boards!

Well I tried this out last night and should submit my times before the cutoff later tonight. I got more used to racing against other ppl and found it fine. I just thought it would be tough because i remember racing other ppl at monaco while trying to beat arcade mode, since its so narrow they would just bounce all over the place and it was hard to pass, but that was on a more difficult setting. I now think the 3 lap thing is a good idea, its fun trying to get the last 2 laps really low to help the overall time, and makes for a good challenge.

Anyway, i think im sticking with the z06 and am finding one lap times around 1:47

Maybe Skyline v Camaro would be a good match? This is off the top of my head, but aren't they similar weight and similar power?

This spot race is based on a thread in the GT3 Forum I had no idea about the power and weight I just thought it would be fun and whatnot, geez
