In GT3 I was challenged by a friend to run a game without buying any cars. Actually you must buy 2 cars in GT3 to attain 100%, a Merc. and a Speed 6, I believe. I'm attempting this again in GT4, so far I'm at 25.7% with 48 cars and 500,000 credits (along with 79 Gold Licenses) and have not bought a car yet. Has anybody else tried this (or am I the only person that needs a life)and if so do you know how many cars must be bought to get to 100%? I'm 99% sure I'll need to buy a Pick-up truck to finish beginner, can't see where you can win one . Anyone else ever try this?

Anyone else think that Gran turismo kinda went overkill on the sounds of the cars, like how so many of them sound the same, and is it really possible for a 1000+ CLK GTR Race car to sound like a 500 hp JGTC NSX, or for that matter a 400 hp CLK touring car? But most of all, an Audi R8 and Bentley Speed 8 sounding like a JGTC Skyline. I think the sound of those cars were overkilled, I mean you have the Calsonic Skyline (both of them), the Penzoil Zexel Skyline, the Penzoil nismo Skyline, the Bentley speed 8, the Audi R8, and the Toyota MINOLTA having the same engine sound. Where is the uniquness????
I mean in the opening video you have the MINOLTA Sounding amazing and then you have it sounding so....boring. I counted that the CLK GTR Race car, BMW M3 GTR (My favorite car of all time), CLK Touring car, Astra Touring car, both new Ford GT LM Race Cars, the Arta NSX, Raybrig NSX, Castrol NSX, Mobile 1 NSX, and the Loctite Mugen NSX having the same EXACT engine sound. Then you have the Peugeot 905 Le Mans car sounding EXACTLY like the Mercedes Evo Touring Car, Calibra Touring Car, and the BMW M3 Touring Car. Then the BMW Mclaren, Jaguar LM Race Car, and Jaguar XJR-9 sounding the exact same. I really wish they would have the cars sounding ALL different like they should sound.
It would be so much more like racing with the car than having to hear the engine of another car that sounds just like you when if you were watching a replay and you heard the sound of your car you could tell it was yours because your car is the only that sounds like that. Does anyone else agree on that, I mean the best sounding car in the game would have to be either the Pescarolo C60 Judd Race car (Green and dark blue one), the Tickford Falcon, or the S2000 LM Race Car. Does anyone else agree with me?

This is driving me mad!
Have completed all events in Beginner & Profesionnal Hall, with Gold Cups in all series of events. Can't access Gran Turismo World Championship, or the Extreme Events Hall as I get a message saying I have to win all events in Beginner & Proffesional Hall before I can progress. I HAVE won all events in Beginner & Proffessional so I can't see why I can't progress. Is there something else that I'm missing. Your help appreciated.

does the t.v. settings (sharpness, tint, colour, brightness) have anything to do with the way the pictures come out? most people say my pics appear dark. they appear fine on this computer. i've taken my travel-drive to several other computers and they do appear dark... so i guess it's the t.v.. i played with the t.v. settings (brightened it up a bit) but that didn't work, my ps2 is in jamaica so i'm using my cousin's ps2 hooked up to a old t.v.. could it just be that the t.v. is old?
EDIT: i just thought of something... no it can't be the t.v. because i already said they appear fine on this computer... there are lots of computers in the house

Wow, interesting read... I was expecting to see some (original) Xbox titles in there, but given that the Xbox has not even hit the half million mark in total (let alone 2005)... looks like Nintendo and Sony have it wrapped up...Solid Lifters
Would be interesting to see the global sales figures too though... I guess the Xbox is much bigger in the US than in Japan, but I reckon GT4 will still figure highly in overall sales...

The PS2 has it all over the XBox in Asian volume... The XBox's biggest selling point is the connectivity, and internet is crap out here (even the DSL is slow). Most online players prefer MMORPGs and RTSs (huge in the market here), which are PC only. Don't know about Europe, though.

Something that most people miss when trying to gain access to the GTWC is that you need to get ALL GOLDS IN EVERY CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES EVENT.Geecee123
This does not show up in the race series menu of the the Professional Hall. You will need to look in the track menu of each series as the race series menu only shows trophies for each track you've raced on.

Sorry to butt in here, but I don't know where else to ask this. How do I gain access to the fastest laps thread, the one with the arrow next to it? I click it and a vague explanation appears telling me that I do not have access. What is up, man?
